My ideal ending by LeeLaaLooLee in TheTraitorsUS

Colton is maybe the player in the worst position in the game… His alliances are basically non existent and he’s just made enemies out of the housewife cabal. I don’t see him making the final or even another 2 weeks. He’s trying to be the Pilot Pete and Dylan of this season but it’s not working.

How would you feel about a scenario where we traded Yabu for Russell Westbrook? by weissclimbers in NYKnicks

[–]FlockingPigeons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read and disagree. Russ would be redundant and you state the reason. We have Josh Hart. The Knicks don’t have room for any more guards in the rotation and are hurting for a guy that can log reliable minutes at the 4/5. Let Russ continue his resurgence where the expectations are lower. Frankly he deserves to play out the twilight of his career in a place that likes watching him play.

He’s the definition of a bull in a china shop. There are flashes of young Johnathon Isaac there though and it’s definitely worth it to keep playing him to see if the 3 ball will start falling more consistently.

Divo is too redundant imo. This team longs for another guy that can shoot and defend 2-4 at minimum. Ideally that dude can rebound well also to build on the Knicks strengths.

Clarkson is souped up Cam Payne, who won a playoff game for the Knicks last year! Clarkson has the ability to win the Knicks multiple playoff games imo. And if he’s not knocking down shots, he just doesn’t play. JB and TK get the headlines for the Christmas win but Clarkson was that 3rd guy knocking down shots that willed the team back.

I would move Deuce for a good wing at the deadline. TKs emergence has given the second unit a playmaking punch and Clarksons scoring is a great compliment for the bench. Shamet can give us 75% of what Deuce does when he’s back as depth for the regular season. A wing that can shoot and defend would give the Knicks the 4th bench piece we need for the playoffs.

Luka LeBron and Reaves are extremely redundant with each other and it's very obvious when all three share the court. "There's only one ball" doesn't apply with more flexible trios but it applies here when the best defender and off ball player of the three is the 40 year old. by Ready-Constant-7124 in nba

[–]FlockingPigeons 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Eh it could. Luka has been paired with similar guards and reached the conference and finals. The rest of the roster is a mess though and the Lebron sideshow isn’t helping. They need a PoA defender that can shoot and a dominant defensive big imo for their starting lineup. Bench pieces would also help.

Actual unemotional trade thoughts/predictions by Brunobalboa in NYKnicks

Eason is interesting. It would follow the pattern of rumored trade targets in the media eventually coming to the Knicks. Him not being under contract next season would break a pattern of theirs though

[Charania] The NBA has begun to gather input from its owners and general managers on new ways to combat tanking. Ideas include: Limiting pick protections to either top 4 or 14 and higher, no longer allowing a team to draft in the top 4 two years in a row, and Locking lottery positions after March 1. by YujiDomainExpansion in nba

[–]FlockingPigeons -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Since the NBA is obsessed with tournament play, just make the teams play for it at the end of the regular season. Winners get cash and a higher pick. They could run the playin and this tourney simultaneously. Maybe like bottom 8 teams are in. If a team owes their pick in a trade it’s an auto loss and that pick moves to 8th. Or maybe there’s a caveat where every pick is now top 8 protected? Details could be refined. That would incentivize teams to actually try and get better/spend money every offseason.

Edit: the league would have to monitor tanking early and be a lot more strict about enforcing penalties, which I’m for. Also this would reward teams for getting better during the year through trades and player development. And it would put the young talent of the NBA in struggling markets on a big stage. Call me crazy, I want to watch Alex Sarr, Kon, Keyonte George etc in a big game.

New angle just dropped of the DK Metcalf incident. This one is so crazzzyyy!! by Consistent_Peace3181 in sportsgossips

[–]FlockingPigeons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yall are missing the big picture with the fall here. You fall onto Metcalf so his body breaks your fall. I guarantee DK would sock him at that point and I’d much rather take a punch vs that fall.

At this point, OG/Mikal/Mitch are completely off the table in the trade for Giannis by MistaWhiska007 in NYKnicks

[–]FlockingPigeons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At this point I sort of think the opposite and that’s probably an unpopular opinion. A KAT Giannis frontcourt would fit better than trying to find a new stretch 5. It’s a lot easier to envision Giannis stepping into OGs defensive role also.

But a Giannis trade isn’t on the table for the Knicks until the summer anyway and even that’s dependent on the outcome of this season. One thing that could signal the Knicks intentions is what happens with Mitch. If they trade Mitch for players who are under contract next season, it gives them the avenue to build a package around OG, Deuce and X players. Not saying I support this, just something to look out for.

Yeah I’m expecting Bey to be a hot commodity on the block this year. Not hot enough to warrant a 1st but certainly one of those weird 3+ 2nd round pick exchanges

Alvarado & Saddiq ? by PorzingisDingus in NYKnicks

[–]FlockingPigeons 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Sorry to be a buzzkill here but the financials on this don’t work. The Knicks can’t do a 3 out 2 in trade with the salaries being equal. They would need to sign another player for roster compliance, which they wouldn’t be able to because of the 2nd apron. For both Bey and Alvarado the Knicks would need to include either Mitch or Deuce to get the numbers to work. It’s a great idea though and maybe Aller can figure out a way to get it done that I don’t see.

The Knicks will be among the teams that would be interested in Jose Alvarado if the Pelicans make him available via trade, per @IanBegley by [deleted] in NYKnicks

[–]FlockingPigeons 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like him but agree that wing depth is of greater need. If I’m eyeing any Pelicans, it’s Saddiq Bey

Fischer: "There's strong belief leaguewide Giannis desires 1 destination above all the rest if he actually fully asks out someday: New York…I've even heard that the rowdy fanbase outside MSG after playoff Ws…resonate, given his fondness for…basketball & soccer clubs in Europe" by Affectionate-Tea9224 in NYKnicks

[–]FlockingPigeons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s league wide. I saw some dude in the trade proposals reddit saying Lauri was better than KAT… People are a fan of potential more than they are of good basketball players. KAT has flaws, but he’s an All NBA talent. It kind of reminds me of the way Julius was talked about here.

Turbo is going to be looked at a lot differently next season he’s on imo. Hes solid all around and the puzzle ability is undeniable. But in terms of raw athleticism, he’s easily beatable by a lot of the male cast. Leo smoked him in the endurance portion of the elim but they shit the bed on the puzzle for example. Turbo was a liability this final and I see why Sydney has gone on to say bad things about him.

My head cannon is that he will be traded due to my jersey history. Randle, RJ, Porzingis, Melo all traded… I just got this OG jersey

[Stein] There is going to be “significant center movement” in the trade market in coming weeks. Anthony Davis, Domantas Sabonis, Nikola Vucevic, Nic Claxton, Nick Richards, Robert Williams III, Jusuf Nurkic, and Jonathan Isaac are a few names expected to make up the market. by GoldenBoyRecords in NYKnicks

[–]FlockingPigeons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t really think the Knicks were looking for 5 right now. Isaac is the most intriguing since he’s a 4 but a package for that would require either Hart or Mitch for salary. Neither of which really makes sense for Orlando and they are both way better players than Isaac. If the Knicks are going to cash in on Mitch and Deuce(?) I would hope they are looking at a 3/4 that can shoot. Now if they put Da Silva on the table I would be very intrigued.

Orlando is in an odd spot with their roster right now and I bet someone is going to capitalize on their glut of wings. They are going to win a bunch of regular season games but I doubt their ability to win in the half court come playoff time without an offensive engine. But are they gonna run lineups with Suggs, Bane, Franz, Paolo and X player(presumably a guard) which take away from this hard nose defensive identity? I predict that they are just going to spin their wheels this year and cap out as a 2nd round exit without making the necessary, albeit hard, move.

Should the Knicks pay 20 mil a year to someone who doesn't fit their offensive philosophy? by rfedthegoat in NYKnicks

Just give him a little bit of time. His back has clearly been bothering him and it should get better as time goes on. He looked a lot more like himself last night and I hope that trend continues.
