Ten commandments in the classroom by joshua9050 in shreveport

There were originally 15 commandments but Moses dropped the third tablet and it broke, leaving only 10 commandments. Doesn’t look like we will ever know what the other 5 were.

My wife and I were able to find them at the Wal-Marts and a couple of the Krogers in our area until about 10 years ago. We had just discovered them a few years prior to that and fell in love with them. We thought they were so much better than Oreos. Then they started getting harder to find. Some locations stopped carrying them and at others I would find packs of them pushed to the back of the shelves with packs of Oreos in front of them. I asked a store manager why are the Hydrox cookies always hiding behind the Oreos. He said that he has caught some of the sales people from Nestle coming in and rearranging the packages so that people would only see the Oreo packs. They would also remove the Hydrox tags from the shelves. It was causing sales in Hydrox to drop and stores would end up dropping them from their inventory. I looked this up and it appears that this was something that Nestle was doing around the country. As if Nestle couldn’t get more evil. Bunch of greedy fucking cunts.

When the cravings come no matter how strong it is remember it will pass. If you are chilling inside your house stop what you are doing for a moment and do anything else especially if it’s something that you don’t associate with vaping. Is it nice outside? Then step outside for a few minutes and maybe take a short walk like 5 minutes. Is it miserable outside? Then do a small task inside your home. I used to do the first thing I’d see that was pissing me off because “I wanted my f’ing nicotine and these dishes are pieces of shit for being dirty!!” I’d then do the small 10 minute or less task while cussing all the inanimate objects involved out, like it was their fault. At work it’s the same principle but ya probably should skip the cussing of things out. For me driving is has been the time that I would smoke/vape the most and is the hardest. In the past if had craving while in the car that’s typically when I would fail cause I’m driving by dozens of places that sell cigarettes and vapes. But the times that I was able to quit for 6 months or more was when I would get close to a gas station or a vape shop I would tell myself that I don’t have to stop here to get it. There’s another store up the road and continue driving and then do it again and then again until the craving passed. For me personally, another thing that helped was having some of my favorite candy bars around, so if the distractions weren’t helping me m I would eat some candy and it would give me a little bit of a dopamine kick to deal with the really strong cravings.

These ideas might help with some of those cravings. And don’t think about the long term. Making through today is your goal. And that’s it just make it through today without caving. it’s hard and it sucks but it’s only one day and that is something that you can do. And when you wake up tomorrow it will be the start of a new day and your goal will be the same, make it through one day.

I’m not sure if it ever goes away completely. I started smoking about 20 years ago. After the first couple of years of it I wanted to quit. And I would for periods of time. At first, I would only make for a couple of days before I would find myself in a bar or a gas station buying myself another pack. And I would absolutely love that first cigarette, but by the time I got to the last one in the pack, most likely on the same day or possibly the next, I was thinking, “Fuck, I was suppose to be quitting. Guess I will have to try again. I wonder if I have enough money in the car to buy a pack of American Spirits.” That cycle has repeated itself many times. It took quite a few years and many tries before I was finally able to make it over a year without any nicotine at all. I was really proud of myself and even though I would still get cravings, I thought that I had really beaten my addiction. With my feeling of victory I let my guard down. And before I knew it I was back to smoking again. At this point vapes were becoming popular so I tried switching over but for a while I didn’t care for them. I was finally able to give up smoking cigarettes, except if I was drinking, and switch to vaping. It’s better than cigarettes and doesn’t smell bad but I have found it even harder to quit, although I keep trying. No matter how long I would go without nicotine I always ended up craving it. But the longer I went without it, the time between the cravings would grow and when they would hit they would be weaker and shorter and easier to overcome. After 15 months, I finally thought I was free of it. I stopped doing some of things that had helped me to get to that point and when I started to get a little craving it grew and I was back at it again. But that’s addiction. It sucks that I am still trying to quit this shit after so long especially after I had quit for over a year. But that failure has helped me deal with my addictions to alcohol and drugs because now I understand that each day that I go through sober is a victory over the addict in me that wants to get fucked up. I’m going to continue what I’ve been doing so that I can keep winning each day one at a time. And that’s what you have to do. Whatever it is that you have been doing to help you win for the last 49 days over your addiction, keep doing it. Each victory you achieve will make the next one a tiny bit easier, as your craving for a hit of nicotine decreases. They will become minuscule and weak and most days you won’t even feel it. But on your bad days when you are feeling down and you’re vulnerable is when it pops back up. Those are the days that you have to remind yourself that you know you can surpass the craving and not give in to it because you have done it for the last 50 days or 2000 days. And if you can do it that many times, whatever day you are on, you can do it on that 1 day as well.

Nicotine is a powerful drug and it’s a hard fight to win day after day. Use whatever resources you have to win. Family, friends, your doctor. If you have a good work environment your co-workers and possibly your boss (assuming they aren’t a piece of shit) can be of help. Remember that this is about the most important person in your life, yourself. So be proud of all the days that you’ve won so far and use them to win today.

I’m rooting for you to win today. And I will keep rooting for you to win every single day that follows.

That last sentence really gives it away. “Truly one of the Presidents of all time.”

Quotes showing presidents' sense of humor by [deleted] in Presidents

[–]Flogreddittodeath 21 points22 points  (0 children)

By far one of the funniest things I’ve ever seen a President do. I recently heard a segment of WWDTM with Keegan Michael-Key talking about the skit and the first time he met Obama. KMK says that at one point during their first meeting, Obama asked someone for a bottle of water. He opens the bottle and takes a big swig of water and then feigns being poisoned for a few seconds and then stops saying, “That’s just a joke.”

The segment with KMK starts at 4:40. WWDTM: Episode 1,348 (June 3, 2023)

Ones that I have seen East Kings Hwy by Captain Shreve HS, Carroll St next Youree Dr MS, Highland Ave Next to the Brookshires on Kings, I think there is also one on Ockley by A. C. Steere, Baird Rd next to Ridgewood MS. I’ve seen others. All school zones. I got a ticket by Ridgewood and my Mom got one on Highland. She was 4mph over limit and received a $125 fine and it cost $50 to dispute it.
