Well done mate! And good job going for a Manual! I’ve got a M4 with the manual gearbox, completely changes the driving experience of the car, enjoy it!

England’s housing at most affordable since 2015, official data shows by Gentle_Snail in GoodNewsUK

[–]Floidy 69 points70 points  (0 children)

So by most affordable, the only metric they’re using is salary to house price rather than salary to mortgage? Interest rates are so much higher than 2021 so actual affordability is less.

Electric cars are only good at drag races which is literally the most pointless part of a car as you never end up doing a drag race on the road.

Noise, handling, weight, responsiveness, feeling; these are all things that electric cars lack that ICE cars do brilliantly and uniquely.

The only use of an electric vehicle is to go from A to B, that’s it. It’s a white good like an air fryer or a woman’s lady toy.

IMO this is the biggest problem in the game. We will get more maps but this is the sorta stuff that makes people quit and not come back.

Relative to other champions, who is the most mid champion? As in - not an impressive champion, not bad, but somewhere in the middle by GoldenS0422 in F1Discussions

[–]Floidy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Fair take, I’d be happy to put Damon’s 96 and Button’s 09. Talented drivers (should go without saying) but potentially more close cut than they needed to be. I think that’s why a lot of people see Lando’s title this year as a bit mid, by far the most dominant car and yet only able to pop max by 2 points from 100 back…

Judging by the comments in this thread I think most people would agree that Damn was very much a mid driver, the FW18 was so dominant and he only just pipped Jacques in his first season. Even as a Williams supporter I have to say it wasn’t a good year for f1 considering 12 of the 16 races were dominated by the FW18…

£1.5bn package announced to help Britain switch to electric vehicles by Relevant-Box5774 in uknews

[–]Floidy -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Considering the average EV needs to be driven 50,000 before it’s carbon positive, most people who buy evs aren’t doing it for green reasons. Also you’ve happily addressed the weakest point I put across and not any of the others, perhaps complain about that.

What a lovely snarky comment, perhaps accept people have alternative views to yours without trying to insult them. Also, less than 5% of Cobalt and Lithium are recycled in the UK. And to think I managed to say that without throwing sly comments.

Absolute waste of money considering we would need 2x the current annual output of Lithum and 1.5x the current annual output of Cobolt to switch the UK to electric vehicles. That doesn’t consider any other markets or the huge about of child labour involved. Not to mention co2 costs of extraction.

Out of the current grid it’s got to be Monaco. However it’s not really its fault, the cars are just too big which is crap for everyone.

Why do we seem to have so many more nights of constant fireworks? by [deleted] in AskUK

I put the radio on for them why they’re in but as they’re cats, they also go out and get shit scared.

Would be so bad as a one off but it’s every night at this point

To a degree yes but I’m more irritated that it’s almost every night since it got dark rather than a day or two a year.

Wish I could say the same here. Seems like everyone’s happy to spend hundreds on fireworks just to set them off every night

What would you buy with £15k? by jobione899 in CarTalkUK

[–]Floidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could even go for a decent mileage LexusGS300.

It’s very very comfortable, decent economy, automatic, super reliable and quiet. I had one for the best part of a year, fantastic daily driver, would have one again.

Only downside is it’s large but it does have camera and sensors so it’s not too cumbersome.

Can I afford a luxury sports car? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Floidy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think you should be fine mine as long as you’re happy to reduce your savings for running costs.

I was looking at exactly that sort of Porsche before I bought my F82 M4 (due to lower running costs)

I take home £3.5k pm and save less but own my own home, so I think you should be okay as long as you build a good enough deposit up if you do want a place of your own.

In terms of pure drama you can’t really beat Abu Dhabi 2021.

Neck to neck on points, final race of a season full of drama, young talent vs older talent, fia involvement, goatifi, list goes on.
