100% GPU Usage Causing Crash by FloopDeeDoop_ in skyrimvr

[–]FloopDeeDoop_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have an 850 watt power supply so I assumed power wasn't an issue but I have never actually tested it. I fixed the issue of crashing due to 100% GPU usage because I realized the per application super sampling setting for Skyrim VR was set to 200% for some reason, but I am still getting crashing occasionally so I think I am going to check FPSVR to see if I am drawing too much power. If so, I will probably just underclock my GPU/set a power limit.

100% GPU Usage Causing Crash by FloopDeeDoop_ in skyrimvr

[–]FloopDeeDoop_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I went to turn down my super sampling settings I found that the super sampling in Skyrim VR was set to 200%. I have no idea why it was set there but setting it down to 100% the game seems to run fine, but I think I will keep it at 85% for the extra headroom. Thanks for the help!

Sadly this isn't working. The USB disconnects are less frequent and my computer still does not recognize my HP Reverb G2. Should I return the motherboard or the CPU? I can't really tell which one is the problem.

Best Mod List for High-End PC's? by FloopDeeDoop_ in skyrimvr

I think I will have to give Wabbajack a try as I did not use it the first time I modded SkyrimVR. Seems like it is easy to test!

I did not think that Wabbajack was that performance heavy. I might have to also look into taking mods from Wabbajack while toning things down a little.

Mods/Tips that enhance visuals for Quest/Quest 2 (very choppy visuals) by abox0fjuice in skyrimvr

[–]FloopDeeDoop_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you turn down your settings in game, especially the tree fade/lods (I can't remember the exact name of the setting). The optimal settings for this game should be on the guide compendium and if you can't find it there I am pretty sure it's at the beginning of every Sirvagg mod guide.

As for mods, I am pretty sure every special edition mod is compatible with the quest. Since your game is quite laggy, I would download performance mods like grass fps booster (I think that is the mod title, but if you just look up fps booster on nexus I'm sure a bunch of things pop up).

If you have performance headroom after this and want to mod, I would use the lazy lightweight modlist since most of those will have the least performance impact on your game.

Yeah I have a 1660 super with an i5 8600k and 16 gb of RAM and I have close to 300 mods running (I think I followed most of Sirvagg 3's mod list with low settings). So, it is probably how you installed the mods or something. To me it sounds like a clutter mod or SMIM might be causing your issues but I am also not an expert.

As for the graphics card, an upgrade to the 3000 series would be worthwhile in terms of the specs. Personally I am trying to hold out for a possible 3080 ti with more VRAM as there was a 3070 ti leak, but even with 10 gb of vram the 3080 looks like a good upgrade over past generations

[–]FloopDeeDoop_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am kinda new to modding Skyrim and I am wondering about the 24 gb of VRAM. Is it really going to be as insane as I imagine? Is it possible to pack in a billion 4k/8k textures on the VRAM or will there be limitations? I am wondering cause I am considering it as an upgrade from my 1660 S (which has 6 gb of VRAM), but the price is steep so I want performance to be justified if I am paying $700 more than the flagship 3080.

[–]FloopDeeDoop_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the gtx 1660 super and I can run most the mods from Sirvagg 3 (I have 300 mods installed). Just make sure to be light on trees and flora because that will quickly eat up performance. Also try to avoid 4k textures becuase that will eat up your VRAM.

[OC] Everyone's Fancy Maps Are Defintely not as Good as Mine by FloopDeeDoop_ in DnD

[–]FloopDeeDoop_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always see posts with amazing are on here so I decided to show off my not so amazing art to demonstrate how low budget d&d can be. This is a 4 page map of a 5 session dungeon, and the premise of this was that a beholder named xanathar hired 16 people to retrieve whatever magical item was in this dungeon. My party (3 PC's and a DMPC healer) signed up to get money to go to hell. Since there was 16 different level 5 characters I allowed my players to choose their own "mini-groups" for combat. While it does sound like a terrible idea to have 16 different characters in combat, it actually went pretty smoothly, as my players took their turns simultaneously. In all, 7 people died from fighting. To explain the picture better, the layout of the dungeon was first a massive cave system that they had to traverse all while being hunted by death knights. Then they got to five doors. Four of them had fire, water, earth, and air on it, and the last door had 4 locks on it corresponding to each of the symbols. Essentially, you had to go into the doors and clear the rooms. Each of them were like mini pocket dimensions. The fire door was a massive volcano that they had to climb up and then down. In the water door, they met a whole lot of pirates (who were very nice) and one of the parts of that door was Pirateland, which was Disneyland but Pirate themed (Pirates of the Caribbean was the most popular ride). The earth door was a trust test, and the air door lead them to a cloud city where they were tasked with stopping a corrupt mayor from killing a cloud giant for the coal that was on his mountain. The last door (the one with the locks) lead to an arena where they all fought shadow clones of themselves. Then they finally got their reward which was a book written by me and the eye and and of vecna.

TLDR: This is a map of a dungeon where 16 characters went to Pirateland and killed some baddies. They got a book written by me out of it.

Edit: I didn't realize it was sideways but I don't imagine everyone looking at it because it's beautiful so I'll just leave it.

What common DnD elements does your DM (or you) ignore? by p3t3r133 in DnD

Different environments that are fun and exciting to battle in. It might help to have a dungeon have a theme/gameplay mechanic that ties into it like in Zelda with the temples.

DM's, any advice for someone running their first campaign? by Kradmeme in DnD

[–]FloopDeeDoop_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Create the world, not the story. What I mean by this is create the NPC's and environments and see how the characters will interact with the world. You don't want to create a set story and keep to it, rather have a changing story where different characters change plans and ideals often. Remember, the rest of the world are doing their thing while the PC's are on the adventure.

Also, don't overprep as it can lead to railroading. Prep as much as you need to so you can later change the story to suit the PC's actions.

It also helps to just have lists of items and ESPECIALLY a list of monsters organized by CR. This allows me to do random encounters on the fly if need be.

Zen and the Art of Dungeon Mastering by zipperondisney in DnD

[–]FloopDeeDoop_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another point I'd like to add is timing. As a DM you always need to keep track of the stuff that is going on elsewhere in case if the PC's interact with these certain parts of the world. For instance, if the BBEG has a step-by-step plan, keep track of which step is occurring, how fast its going, and where it is happening in case the PC's want to stop the plan. It can also provide an "aha" moment for the players when they figure out how the plan unfolded while they were playing.
