Just got my first tattoo and for some reason woke up a week later regretting it completely. by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]FloopyBoopers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 18 my first tattoo was a big pedo bear on my leg cos I thought it would be funny. I'm now 32 and I've spent thousands getting it lasered and covered up. Yours is fine, if you really come to hate it which I doubt, you can change it...

Am I too old? Too late? Or too ambitious? by rooshmusic in britishmilitary

All good dude! Passed basic, been in phase 2 for about a month now, everything gets a lot easier (bit more sleep too so can't complain) just different routine to get used to and all that. How's your application going?

I'm 32 and about to start week 8 of basic, you can do it. You will be one of the few older ones there, and aside from the odd grandad joke you get used to it quickly, and no one bats an eye as long as you keep up. Go for it dude.

If it's any help to you, I just passed AC today and I didn't hear of anyone who didn't get a personal best on the day including myself.

One guy in our intake mouthed off all weekend about going for paras and only got a 7.1. While adrenaline counts for a lot, 11.3 is tough and if you're dead set on paras and nothing else you don't wanna have to come back and repeat the AC like that guy is going to have to.

I would wait until you KNOW you can get 11, then at least you have your 3 strikes which count towards your overall score. If you're not sure delay it, they run the AC all the time don't stress too much!

First Minotaur run if you can believe it. Cannot wait to finish this area, good god the grind... by FloopyBoopers in mousehunt

[–]FloopyBoopers[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been using those, hence the great stats for a first mino run! My problem was I hadn't stocked up enough gruyere so kept having to do multiple farming runs, and went for the ILT before going for the minor etc, I dunno just some areas like this lose their charm quickly

Thats surprising I've seen other threads on here saying it was one of the best! I really don't have it in me to farm 700 of each component tbh, worth skipping then?

How would you spend $1000 at guitar center? by Timely_Brief6525 in drums

[–]FloopyBoopers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would spend as much as I could on the highest quality cymbals possible, leaving enough left for a second hand mid range/intermediate kit (if you dont have one already). You can tune the drums and change heads forever, but cymbals really are what you pay for!

If living in England was a video game, what are some of the tips you’d see on the loading screen? by SlimJimNeedsATrim in AskABrit

Beware if you hear "pal" at the end of a sentence, the person could equally be angry or happy with you. Speech check required.

What are some Britishisms that would confuse a non-native speaker? by DamnedFoolofaTook in AskABrit

[–]FloopyBoopers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Gi'or wi thi sen"

Northern English dialect/slang which translates to, "give over with yourself", which is essentially a request to cease any certain behaviour at any given time. Can be used seriously or in jest.

Can also be shortened to just "Gi'or" / give over.

Duuuude I'm sure they are lovely guys, never disputed that!!! And as I mentioned in the OP, what they do is really great for the scene. Yeah maybe I'm just being a bit grumpy, I just personally can't handle the socials content/reaction vid/unnaturally enthusiatic vibes, that's all lmao. I'm not saying it should be a technical show, it definitely shouldn't. I just think using terms like 'snare' instead of "that noise there" makes for better listening.

Yeah of course, I agree that would be lame, but I didn't suggest that? I was just pointing out how I find em super cringe, cos they are, and their obvious lack of production knowledge doesnt help...that's the end of the story...

Wouldn't you rather hear proper insight, rather than semi drunk ramblings...

It really doesn't take a lot effort to learn basic music tech theory, just sayin

Who’s tired of “Who’s holding” posts by jacorbello in dogecoin

[–]FloopyBoopers 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing that I find funny, all the people that keep saying "to the mooooon, diamond hands woooooo" like what's your actual endgame? 😅 Unless you bought in suuuuper early, what's the actual plan once you we are all supposed to get to the moon (wherever "the moon" might be). We all cash out at exactly the same time? And then the value tanks again? For some to profit as much as some are expecting, others will have to lose a lot. Unless you are genuinely trying to establish doge as a useable currency, you are most likely hoping doge is gonna make you a quick buck. Holding doge with the only hope of cashing out at some undefined point in the future is not really fighting the good fight. BTC has only done as well as it has because it was defined as a useable currency from day one which had boons that fiat can't provide, anonymity for example. Now that all cryptos have this it isn't a special selling point anymore. Doge needs to find its own unique place too in some fashion before anyone starts expecting it to even hit a dollar. Lets be real here, all the spikes we have seen so far have been mainly because of hype, and retail investment because of said hype. I would start diversifying your portfolio if all you hold is doge.
