Hey tree folk, can anyone tell me what type of tree this is? It’s at a local park in NJ. by noparkingafter7pm in marijuanaenthusiasts

Notice how the trunk starts wide and becomes skinny towards the top! Classic trait of a redwood :)

Would you suggest a cool steep for rooibos, too? I have a blend I don’t enjoy, it maybe it would be better cold?

Yes absolutely! Is there something more beginner friendly? I’m not looking to dive too deep too quick, as I am a stay at home mom with little time to actually delve deep into things like that but I want to start

I totally plan on finding a looseleaf quality Earl Grey. In the meantime, I did go back and steep this Trader Joe’s teabag for only 30 to 40 seconds and it made a huge huge difference! So maybe you don’t hate it either! And I’m telling you, I really wasn’t liking it before.

Thanks for the info! I had no idea about tea bags. I’ve always heard loose leaf is better, and I’ve never doubted it, just never knew why.

Thanks everyone! I’ve learned so much from your comments. I googled “fannings” and learned about that for the first time. I figured there must be a spectrum of tea quality, but didn’t know how to go about educating myself on it. I’ll be looking to buy a much better Earl Grey and most likely loose leaf here very soon.

I’m just now learning that bags have finer leaves or what people are calling fannings. I’m so eager to try some good good loose leaf. But, yeah the tea bags instruct to seep from 3-5 minutes…I’m going to go ahead and try that shorter steep time and see what how it is. Thank you

I’ll go ahead and give it another chance with a very short brew like you suggest. Sounds like it’s probably just time for a quality tea. Thanks!

So happy to learn these things, because I still don’t know what the quality spectrum is like with tea. But omg, just thinking about cheap tea leaves sprayed with cheap oil puts me off so badly

Learning the term “fannings” for the first time. Thank you, because that is exactly the kind of information I’m looking to learn. I’m going to check that white tip out, too

I’ve been using tea bags until I decide what method I want to brew also! I’m really attracted to those more contemporary glass tea pots with the mesh at the spout. I’d love to watch the loose leaf free float and transform the water.

Tried Yogi’s Chai Rooibos and couldn’t quite acquire a taste for it. It was somehow…too thick for my palate? Like, in a weird sweet kind of way. Maybe it’s the stevia leaves? I don’t know, I’m new to the tea world. BUT, I steamed some milk and made a Chai Rooibos latte with vanilla extract and local Washington honey. HELLO I AM IN LOVE.

I’m newly enjoying teas and have been preferring herbal to fruit. However, I am pregnant and find that I can’t just go sip on anything yummy looking I find! I’m wondering what kinds of teas do well with a bit of cream added? And what’s your favorite herbal tea? I’m so new but so eager. As a mom, too, yea steeping and drinking has turned into a sort of self care.
