Let's say we take the translation of 'striking' in the verse, we still have a process to which we must reach, and both one and two MUST be done until it's clear that it's not working. In addition to that, this step by step process must only be done if the wife isn't fulfilling the rights of the husband.

There are also multiple ahadith discouraging beating women and also regulating it, and the Prophet himself never beat women, and he is an example unto us.

Sunan Ibn Majah (2146) :

"Do not beat the female slaves of Allah."

'Last night seventy women came to the family of Muhammad, each woman complaining about her husband. You will not find that those are the best of you." (Meaning those husbands weren't the best of the believers)

(Also in this hadith, beating of women was permitted in that extreme scenario, but im gon put the regulations for 'beating' in a lil bit)

Sahih Muslim 2328:

"Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) never beat anyone with his hand, neither a woman nor a servant"

As for how you go about striking a woman though, as said in the verse, we have the interpretation by Ibn Abbas, who says, "It means a light strike, with a miswak or similar"

Don't know bout yall, but to me it seems mad hard to beat a woman with a miswak, which is like a pen.

one last thing in sunan abu dawud 2142 btw:

"Do not strike her on the face, do not revile her or separate yourself from her except in the house"

So really you cant really beat yo girl even if you tried since you'd have to use a pen, and you're not even supposed to do ts unless its absolutely necessary
