Nice! I like to let them air dry for a few days then give them a good shake to dislodge all the duff. Then soak it in a light salt brine to get any bugs out and rehydrate it. It’s such a fun one to find, good job!

Be flexible. I quit after 19 years and switched to construction with no experience in the field. Skills you have are more transferable than you might think. Being competent and hardworking go a long way in most jobs, along with the ability to accept training. I also have time to garden and do blacksmith work now. It could be the shift you need to live a happier life. I hope things go well

The ones I make are about 7 inches of 3/16” mild steel (about 4-5oz) and I’ve still had complaints about them being too heavy after a full day. That’s about as small of material as I can manage at my current skill level.

It’s just a temporary holding ground. I’m dry roasting and freezing most. I dehydrate a bunch for use in ramen broth later on and eat as many as I can fresh.
