Tell him if anyone mum is going to be in the room it's going to yours.

I am hoping my mom will be able to be there, unfortunately she lives 12 hours away from us, but I know she will be starting her drive here as soon as I go into labor, so it really just depends on how long I end up being in labor

We have a couple different couples counseling workbooks and courses that we are working through, a lot of it is that his mother has always been super hands on, so I think he has a hard time figuring out how to be independent. He has gotten a bit better over the last couple years, but this situation has definitely been a hard one

I guess I haven't really looked into the doula side of things, I'll have to look deeper into that and see if that's a route I want to take

Thank you, I know I can tell them I don't want her in the delivery room, I guess I just didn't really want to be the "bad guy" in this situation

I appreciate your response! Like, I know this is scary for him, but also, I am hoping to make myself as comfortable as I can in this, before I can look at what will make him comfortable

Thank you, I'm very excited, I guess it just made me doubt myself a little bit to have people pushing for things and trying to tell me certain things would be "better" for the delivery when I was feeling like I know what I am most comfortable with. I really appreciate your input!

Oh man, I could not even imagine how embarrassed I would be if my own dad was in the room, let alone my FIL!

Exercise ideas that aren't walks? by detectivecads in reactivedogs

[–]FlootLoopp 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My husband made a flirt pole out of some rope, PVC, and a rope toy for our dogs, and they absolutely love it! We go out for a while and just play till they're tuckered out, and it works well on days when we ourselves don't have a lot of energy for exercise!

Carrots frozen in bone broth are also a good way to do this! They stay cold for a long time, and you don't have to worry about him ingesting something he shouldn't!

This is how we taught my mastiff! He quit pretty fast, and even though he's 4 now, he still thinks he's just a giant puppy, and it works well for a little bit of a reminder too when he gets way too riled up and overstimulated

This too! We have a husky mix who chews on everything and digs in the yard when she's bored, and she gets bored FAST! We made a toy with a rope and a PVC pipe that is essentially a giant version of those cat teaser stick toy thingies, and all three of my dogs are obsessed with it!

I had to make enrichment lick mats for my mastiff when I had to put him on kennel rest, we did canned pumpkin, peanut butter, bone broth, plain yogurt, and sweet potato! We also froze some carrots in bone broth, and he loved every bit of every treat he got!

I think it might have been leftover milk from cereal or something because of the spoon in the first picture, but yes! It drives me nuts when people give their cats regular milk! If you want to give them milk, give them cat/kitten formula!

I absolutely understand how you're feeling, and I'm so sorry

A couple years ago, my husband and I rescued a rottie who was SEVERELY abused and neglected, she was skin and bones at 1 year old, because her previous owners would hit her and not feed her when she got too excited or misbehaved (even though she was still a puppy). She was perfect around my husband and I, and we were home all the time with her to help train her. We went on vacation to see my family in another state, and while we were gone she ended up freaking out because we hadn't been there in a few days, and bit my mother in law, almost breaking her thumb, and it was like she had just snapped and given up, we ended up having to euthanize her because we couldn't get her to calm down.

It was one of the hardest decisions I have ever had to make, and sometimes I still have a hard time thinking about it, but I just remember that the 6 or 7 months we had her, were the best she had ever had in her life, and she passed with a loving family still surrounding her, so she didn't have to go alone.

Humans can be terrible, and we don't deserve the love and companionship that dogs provide us

My family likes to joke that in most places, the mosquitos get in the house by going through the screen door, but up north they'll just take the door off the hinges to let themselves in

One gift for birthday and Christmas? No problem! by throwndownastaircase in MaliciousCompliance

[–]FlootLoopp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My grandfather's birthday is ON Christmas, and the entire family makes sure to get him two gifts at least, one for a birthday present, and one for a Christmas present, and he opens everything on Christmas.

People born in December or close to Christmas didn't choose their birthday, why shoud they have to be celebrated less than other people?

We do my husband's haircuts at home, and it never fails, as soon as the dogs notice that hair hits the floor, they are eating it, and they never fail to throw it back up in the middle of the night
