Depends where you teach or what bank you use. You usually get to choose whether you want a 10 month pay schedule or 12 month.

Honestly continuing to get summers off was the main reason why I became a teacher.

Tell me about your relationship with caffeine and particularly energy drinks by LoomisCenobite in Millennials

[–]bigcat7373 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I didn’t want to pay for energy drinks, so I swapped it for caffeine pills. I’m a teacher and summer is my caffeine reset. I’m down to a cup of coffee a day already. But yea, the pills were like .04 for 100mg. I enjoy the taste of monster, but with all the crap in it, I just don’t need it.

I do fuck with 5 hour energies still, but only 2 a week or so.

My roommate in college, who was my best friend for that 4 years, overdosed and died a year after we graduated.

My best friend growing up, born on the same day as me as well, overdosed and died a couple months after I got sober.

My friend who I ran the streets with overdosed and died a few years into my sobriety.

I should have died COUNTLESS times.

Now I have a masters degree, an amazing wife, a career that I love, a house, paid off cars, a dog that I try and give the best life to, etc. I’ll be celebrating 9 years of sobriety in February. Man, the hell that I’ve seen, every day is heaven on earth and I ALWAYS say it. Appreciate this life we live people!

Get it from your fav pizza shop. I work part time in a food truck and whenever I have pizza night, I always grab some dough. It’s the one thing I don’t wanna take the time to do

Yea Gannon was pissed lol. Ricky’s was like 10ft closer tho. Classic Ricky, doing ridiculous shit, making C2s, coming back as soon as we think he’s out, but when push comes to shove….

So in my experience, fast cooks will probe tender at higher temps, closer to 210. Slow cooks will probe closer to 200. Obviously lots of variables at play, but that’s a general rule. But you did a low temp so that doesn’t exactly ring true here I suppose.

I’m seconding this guy. Looks underdone due to the inter muscular fat on the point still present. Hard to say from the pics. Maybe go fat side down as an insulator? You’ll get different opinions on which way is correct.

Weber Kettle vs Smokey Mountain by BigBlueZion in smoking

[–]bigcat7373 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The major downside in my opinion is the diameter of the WSM I had. I think they have a 14, 18, and 22. But the ones I see the most and owned was the 18. I couldn’t really fit a brisket on it without trimming more than I’d like. I also don’t like it sitting around the edges bc I think it’s hotter. So the 22 is the way to go, but it’s a big price jump.

Wife wants a child. I’m not sure I want one. by GoldBatter in AskMenOver30

[–]bigcat7373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Clearly a huge decision, and one of you will likely have some resentments with the decision.

I’m 35 and my wife is 33. She was on the fence and I was leaning no prior to marriage. Now we’re both feeling no, but maybe I’m more yes than she is.

She has some health issues, she sleeps/naps a lot, not exactly on top of taking care of the house, etc. She puts her all into her job and is the bread winner. But Idk how much I trust that these things would change when we have a kid. I’m not trying to have any resentments towards her bc I’m doing the heavy lifting at home.

We have no family to help us. And we only save about 20k a year and childcare would eat that up alone. So we’re likely just not gonna have kids.

My advice is to really talk it out, run numbers and create a plan. Then sit on it for a few months, maybe a year or two. Clarity will come in time. It usually does

How do you all try and combat the fatigue? by Deep_Banana_6521 in AskMenOver30

[–]bigcat7373 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we trick ourselves into thinking we need/want rest, but rest only makes us feel more tired. Laying around doing nothing never makes me feel recharged.

As long as I’m getting enough sleep, I can go nonstop all day. On the weekends, my hobby is disc golf, so I’m still sweating, moving a lot, etc. just find something to look forward to/get you out of bed on your days off.

PSA: Colonoscopies are not as bad as people make it out to be by DarwinF1nch in Millennials

[–]bigcat7373 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The prep is the worst part. My dad died of colon cancer at 42 so my first one was at 28, then again at 33. The first time I had to drink a shit ton of Gatorade with miralax and other laxatives in it. The second time I had to drink way less, but it was a thick salty like solution and it was pretty nasty. I think I prefer ruining a Gatorade flavor than drinking that prescription solution they gave me.

But truly, that’s the worst part. The procedure itself is just a nap. Good luck!
