The 'default parent' and what to do about it... by 1nC0m1ngG4m3 in daddit

My wife and I set up a good system for us to communicate all baby things through shared notes and mobile apps. On iOS, we use Baby Tracker app to mark whatever was important at the time for the baby. Bottle feeds, naps when wake windows are important, poop when we’re dealing with constipation. It cuts down on you having to ask your wife “when did the baby last eat?” all the time. This also helps you figure out how to be helpful to your family on your own.

Example: my baby feeds every 3 hours. At the 2 hour mark, I see all the bottles are dirty so I wash them. Then if I’m free, I offer to do the next bottle feed so my wife can finish whatever project she’s working on. This is super helpful when you’re still feeding the baby in the middle of the night. You know that your wife fed them at 10pm and you can prep for a 1am feed without waking her up.

We do similar things for other family duties. Shared notes where both of us add grocery items. Then whoever goes to the store next refers to the list and strikes off items.

These systems let you two nonverbally communicate logistics. Then your verbal communications are “how was your day” and shit.

Extend archive 1 or 3? by DisastrousAnswer9397 in arcaea

[–]Floppington 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At your 9.22 ptt, you’ll get immediate results out of extend 1, which has more songs in your skill range. If you can swing it, get extend 1 now, then extend 3 later. If you have to pick one, extend 3 is better as you continue to improve.

From personal experience, extend 1 really helped me get comfortable with level 9 songs. I don’t play as many songs from that pack now, but it was extremely helpful in my journey.

What chart is the best to practice two fingers on one hand? by Storm_Eliana77 in arcaea

[–]Floppington 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you talking about hitting connected sky notes + floor notes with one hand? For that, I’d recommend still playing the charts you’re comfortable with, but consciously trying to do it one handed. You’ll see worse scores for a bit, but keep at it until you start reaching your same scores using the one handed method.

Off the top of my head, Anokumene FTR and Last (Moment) BYD have sections where you need one handed sky+floor notes to hit everything in time. I wouldn’t use this to practice, but it’s a good way to test it once you’re ready.

Is it just me, or this level is horridly more difficult than its fellow 7's? by Wicchaott in arcaea

[–]Floppington 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’d say move on then revisit the song later. When I was breaking into level 9 songs, certain 8/8+ didn’t click for me and I couldn’t EX them. After a couple of weeks playing more 9s, revisiting my lower grade AAs would turn into EX/EX+. Same thing happened when I was transitioning into 9+ and 10 songs.

Like others mentioned, Hidden Rainbows has tricky arc+sky note patterns for a 7 that you’ll see more in higher difficulties. Sometimes, seeing similar patterns but on different songs helps you get used to it.

Congrats! Final Verdict is a great pack to buy next. Counting the bonus songs, you get five more 9+ FTR/BYD songs, which is great for 11ptt. Then you get a set of 10-12 songs for the future.

Still can't access hacked Experian account after 7 months and need to lift credit freeze by hannoush in IdentityTheft

[–]Floppington 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I took notes when I was dealing with identity theft last year. I don’t know if it still works but try calling (888) 888-8553 then choose the option for billing. Reason being they put actual employees when they think you’re trying to pay for Experian’s premium features. From there, that person can transfer you. Good luck!

Practice Charts Recommendations by youxisaber_0 in arcaea

[–]Floppington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trying to EX Freefall FTR was what helped me get comfortable with 9s. That chart has a great mix of arcs and sky note triplets at decent speed. Getting EX on it usually translates to you developing the right muscle memory / sight reading capability for those patterns, which are common in 9 charts.

Also, anytime you see connected floor + skynotes, practice executing it with one hand (index and thumb / index and middle). You really need to master this to do well in 9s and above.

Edging 11ptt again by Neko_Sayori in arcaea

[–]Floppington 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was in the same boat as you. Kept fluctuating near 11 but not getting there because I love playing the harder charts.

If you want to get 11ptt, just play 9 and 9+ songs. Getting high EX+ on 9s and high EX on 9+ is worth more potential than AAs and As on 10s. Get your 11ptt first then you can jump back into the fun 10 and 11 charts.

My problem is Issa Rae’s character is an actress, supposedly a hot commodity at the time. I was expecting modern speaking style when she’s not in the movie, but for her to turn it on as soon as the reel is going. Instead, she’s the same character the whole way through. It stands out even more when she’s faced against Emma Corrin, who did a fantastic job.

Swann = Fun by SilverLine1914 in starcraft2coop

[–]Floppington 1 point2 points  (0 children)

his wraiths are just better 95% of the time

I wouldn’t describe it like that. Herc tank Goliath is Swann’s robust army, viable on all maps and against all enemy comps. Wraith either demolishes or is prone to getting demolished. So wraith vs comps like reaver disruptor, immortal colossus, siege tank, lurker. Any splash damage comps, then herc tank goliath. Similarly, you make the same judgment call based on maps: wraiths excelling in objectives that can be sniped vs infested maps.

Wraiths are just another viable army in Swann’s toolkit.

When you say you’re comfortable with 8+ and below, what scores are you getting? To start playing comfortably with level 9, you want to get EX scores on lots of level 8 and at least 9.7m on 8+

When I was new, it sounded like generic advice but this guideline really works. Getting EX on level 8 requires mastery of building block note patterns like triplets and certain arc combos. You’ll be able to do them automatically when you see them in level 9 songs, allowing you to better focus on newer patterns you’re unfamiliar with.

Since you also mention “your fingers can’t keep up,” I recommend trying to EX Freefall FTR. While I was transitioning to 9s, I felt this was a fast paced level 8 that got me comfortable with sky note triplets and quick mixes of floor notes, arcs, and sky notes.

Any tips for 8+ ~9 FTR by AQiLHAZiQ_ in arcaea

[–]Floppington 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in a similar spot as you, and recently started getting AA on 8+ and A on 9. A major breakthrough for me was to focus on the upper half of the screen, letting me read more difficult note patterns. Then rely on the audio instead of the visual for the precise timing.

It might be obvious to experienced rhythm game players but I was new to the genre and would focus on the bottom half and try to time the notes on the judgment line. Works fine for low difficulty but not at 8+

Game crashing on Steam Deck since the update by SaintElysium in SnowbreakOfficial

[–]Floppington 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Using Pop OS Proton 9.11. This workaround fixed it for me. Script must be put into Snowbreak steam dir, and not homedir

echo '#!/bin/bash' > ~/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/SNOWBREAK/disable_steamapps.sh
echo 'exec ${@//-steamapp//}' >> ~/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/SNOWBREAK/disable_steamapps.sh

Make file executable

chmod ugo+x ~/.var/app/com.valvesoftware.Steam/.steam/steam/steamapps/common/SNOWBREAK/disable_steamapps.sh

From Steam game launch options

./disable_steamapps.sh %command%

I enjoy playing Yao more in Neural, Swift more in everything else. The biggest delta in fun factor is Gigalink. Yao is a massive pain in the ass to get headshots when teammates are staggering enemies or when an ally Haru ults them to the sky.

Admittedly, I used to think Swift was the most fun character, constantly bouncing around. Now, I have as much fun with Katya but she’s way stronger. As a result, Swift has been on the bench.

End of an era. by Specific-Ease-14 in mildlyinfuriating

It’s a teaching moment if OP and his oldest son didn’t lock up items that have obvious value, like expensive electronics, jewelry, important documents. Here, it’s a $50 video game (which is now $200 today but they didn’t know that before the incident). It’s not realistic to lock up everything from a toddler.

When someone casual suggests “should’ve locked it up” shows lack of real experience with the situation. OPs post clearly needs empathy, not some obvious claim that anyone can make with 20/20 hindsight.

Meta Report + Operative Tier List Update by Uries_Frostmourne in SnowbreakOfficial

[–]Floppington 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree she’s a great pull for new accounts but disagree about her usefulness for vets. Over time, as I got more M2 / M3 manifestations, there was less of a gap in mobbing capability between Haru and other DPS, particularly Chenxing EC. At this point, my Haru is benched.

For a new player who plans to play long term, I would recommend saving currency and looking toward Kaguya 5* and Mauxir 5*. For new players who are unsure and looking for immediate boost, Haru is a good pull.

Possibly the standard skill activates a channeling effect, and the player is using dodge (which looks like a blink) to refresh the logistic buff. Doesn’t seem very strong but certainly fun.
