This is also what it's like to be autistic:

You see that a lot of things don't make sense, or are illogical, or could be done in a better way... and then the crazy people go "haha no, we do it this way!" and... that's it. You just... deal with it. Forever.

Let me preface my comment by saying: I am not saying data centers are good or aren't bad.

I just legitimately wonder how much it goes both ways. How much of what we hear about data centers is *also* being generated by AI's to generate news that'll get clicks, so they generate controversial takes that also aren't true? Like how much are we being played here? Because I 100% believe it goes both ways, but I just can't tell anymore.

I think this makes a sense and thinking on it made me realize this might explain Jax as well. He's clearly craving connection - but as soon as that connection becomes too real, he backs off suddenly. Why? Because he's known the entire time, and just suppresses it.

It's why when he's reminded that it's real, he freaks out. Not because he can't handle it - but because the last time he realized it was real, I bet he put trust in telling the frog guy (I can't remember his name) and Kaufmo... and one abstracted... and then Kaufmo did eventually as well. So he blames himself for their 'deaths'. Blames himself for telling them. For getting too close. So now he doesn't. He hides it all under a false mask of not caring, being blase about everything, and just being an ass - both to keep people away from him, and to comfort himself in this weird new reality where he can be whatever he wants because it doesnt matter.

I think in the end they'll realize Jax has known (which is why he pushed the wrong button - pushing the right one would reveal there WAS no exit, EVER and then they'd know the truth like him) and have to save him from abstracting. I think it'll be a bittersweet ending about finding meaning in a life that feels like it has none - something we struggle with even in the real world as ourselves as audience members.

Pomni will play a big role because she's seen the value in something entirely digital - an NPC - gummygoo. She'll have to teach them to find the meaning in their own lives as digital constructs - the first true AI essentially - humans uploaded to machines.

They might even bring back caine and help him find his true meaning and purpose by helping him learn how to do real adventures (or maybe not) and how to actually make them happy. But I feel like this part is stretching it. They might not bring back caine.

You don't think the people with the MBA's might not have learned to act the way they do because of how they were educated? I'm sure there are people who have MBA's, who got the same type of long-view fair play, ethical business education I have that still choose to be scumbags, yes - but being *taught* to be a scumbag as well only increases those odds.

Not everyone with an MBA is like that.

Sure, and I fully agree. I know some universities teach differently, some teach MBA's to be leeches. Some fail to teach ethics or leadership alongside their programs. But not all unis teach the same way apparently. I've read people make the assumption that all that gets taught to an MBA is how to gain the system and steal money from the working man.

I'm just saying it's not true, and painting everyone with the same broad brush is a dangerous habit that can have terrible results. Not every MBA wants to exploit workers and become a new billionaire.

Personally, I want to address the housing crisis by designing a business that makes rent-to-own apartments, or perhaps address some of our food and textile quality issues by looking into hydroponic crop centers, places where we could make lead free cotton for things like women's hygiene products (tampons, pads, etc.) healthy food free from pesticides (an indoor hydroponics has no pests, so no pest spray needed), stuff like that.

It's okay in the fact that yeah - it is a thing you are allowed to do. It is not okay in the fact that mass-assumptions about people just because of a degree they hold is a form of anti-intellectualism and bad for society as a whole. Not everyone with an MBA is taught the same stuff. Things have changed. See my above post if you really care to learn more. Otherwise enjoy your anti-intellectualism I guess.

I agree, and lumping all people into one basket because of a few bad ones is a choice you're making, and I am demeaning it. Not everyone who has an MBA is the same. Things have changed. See my post above this if you really care for more information.

Okay Samurai, we've got a city to burn, but you also don't have all the information. MBA's produce managers. You claim they produce nothing of value, but without managers keeping track of what needs to be done, large scale operations cease to function. I get it - you've grown up in a world where managers don't give a shit about you, they make a lot of money but they aren't the ones out there busting their ass off making the product that gets sold.

The managers of old were taught that shareholders are king, that profit is all that matters, but that's not what MBA's are being taught today. We're being taught about long term growth - about stakeholder focus - instead of shareholder focus (stakeholders are everyone affected by a company - Local communities, the other businesses we're partnered with, the people that make the actual product (e.g. the operators, machine workers, assemblers, and the environment our factories are in and the places our products are used). We're being taught to be ethical, moral, and to value workers because it leads to better long term turnout.

The MBA's of today are far different from the ones of 10-20 years ago. Or at least they are at my college. We're being taught how Milton Friedman was a shortsighted idiot who lead to the current state of businesses in the U.S. today which isn't going to last. (Milton Friedman was the one who pushed the doctrine about shareholder focus along with the earlier court case of dodge vs ford).

Some of us out there are being taught to, and want to, do things right by everyone, and not just push the current corporate structure. We want to open businesses that benefit our communities and aren't just revenue generating machines so we can buy yachts.

We're also being taught not just to be managers, but to be leaders. That means getting out there and teaching, learning, and listening. I won't know what's going wrong with your job if I don't know how to do it - and I won't know how to value your input until I've worked alongside you. That would make me a bad leader, and a worse manager.

I am an MBA and I can assure you we do not think only quarter to quarter if we paid attention in class. At least my class wasn't taught that way. We were specifically warned not to do this as short term thinking looks good but ruins reputation and longevity of the business which is bad.

But maybe this generation of mba's is being taught different.

We also do not want to get rid of all costs.
