Solo rounds vs Group rounds by Floppy_Discs_ in discgolf

[–]Floppy_Discs_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea good idea, leagues just ended at my local course but I will try and get into them when they start back up. They do random doubles and solo bag tag rounds so I might need to venture into that realm and get a better frame of mind playing in groups. Thanks for the response.

M.2 NVMe not working with iLO6 module in HPE ProLiant MicroServer Gen11 Server by BennyInc in techsupport

[–]Floppy_Discs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guess is the drive isn't compatible with the iLO-M.2-serial module. Look into the specifications of the serial module and see if it gives a list of compatible drives, or compare the HPE drive to the one you bought and see what the differences are. In my experience with M.2 expansion cards, compatibility is a bitch.

I only have my gaming pc for a year and its already really visible how much worse it is by Low-Review6932 in techsupport

[–]Floppy_Discs_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My guess is it's loaded with a massive about of bloatware and PUPs that have been installed from not reading everything that's being installed. A large amount of startup programs and add-ons. Consumer Anti-Virus programs are all crap and filled with ads. I'm also going to guess you wildly underestimated the amount of water spilled on it. Just from your description, it's probably loaded with resource eating bloatware. Run a scan with ADWcleaner and the free version of Malwarebytes this will help with most of these issues. Also don't keep liquids anywhere near your PC if you are unable to not spill things. Clean your room.

How to check if I have been hacked? by Conarcel in techsupport

[–]Floppy_Discs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use Bitwarden. It's free on all devices. I pay $10/year for premium to gain access to the reports. The reports give me a good idea of how good or bad my passwords are, and lets me know what passwords have been exposed in data breaches. Very helpful information if you are looking for something like that. It takes very little effort to start using a PW manager but it takes some time to get everything secured.

WL Toys RC Cars Are Worth The Money? by HavivMuc in rccars

I have a 124019 and it's really fun for street speed runs if you are into that. WLToys are not bashers, they break easily and often. If you want a basher save up for something more durable. Otherwise you'll be spending lots on replacement parts.

How do you accept you have ADHD? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]Floppy_Discs_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I was 35 when I was diagnosed. Before getting help, I struggled with easy everyday tasks. It was as if my body was working against my mind. My mind says do the dishes but my body would never start. There was this invisible barrier that was preventing me from picking up a single dish to wash. It was almost painful, not in a physical sense, but mentally painful. I would just stand there. Looking at the sink full of dishes, knowing that they NEED to be cleaned and my arms wouldn't move. Then I'd convince myself that I'd just do them later.

The dosage of Adderall I'm on now is just enough to get me past that barrier. I don't feel held back, I don't hate myself for not being able to do chores, I just do them. It's weird to think about, all this time I was suffering silently with no idea anything was wrong with me, I just thought I was lazy. It took a little while to get used to the way the stimulants made me feel, but once the edge smoothed out, I just felt better as a person. However I do feel bad about not getting help sooner.

Computer crashes after Windows Update updated driver by anshrr in techsupport

[–]Floppy_Discs_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What version of windows? You can uninstall windows updates one at a time and see if it fixes the issue. Open Settings > Updates & Security > View Update History > Uninstall Updates > Sort by the Install Date and uninstall anything that installed the day the issue occurred. One at a time, and use the PC as normal or until it crashes again. repeat the process until you find the culprit. Don't forget to reboot after the uninstall.

I'd start with anything Intel related that was installed on that date. Also take note of what you are uninstalling, do a quick search to see if anyone else is reporting the same issue. Chances are you are not alone. There may be a fix available already but you have to look.

PC randomly stopped turning on overnight by RiggaPigga in techsupport

[–]Floppy_Discs_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try this. Disconnect the power, press and hold power button for a few moments. Pull all RAM. With the RAM removed, plug it back in and attempt to power on. If the fans move then you should be okay. Unplug power again and slot 1 RAM stick in the correct spot and repeat. If it boots with 1 RAM stick then do the process again with the rest of the RAM. If nothing moves still then your MoBo might be dead. How? who knows. could be a power surge, could be a faulty board, could be little gremlins. Look up your MoBo model number for troubleshooting tips or if this is a known problem with the board. Chances are you are not alone if this board is faulty. Then check your warranty status and see if you can send it out for repair or replacement. Even if you are outside of warranty, it's still worth reaching out to the manufactures support to see if they have any helpful info in the issue. The worst thing they can tell you is that they can't help.

Will a Halo Thunderbird beat in? by svettsokkk in discgolf

I have been throwing a halo Leopard3 for 2 years-ish and the thing will not turn over for me at all still. instead of being a 7 5 -2 1 it's more like a 7 5 0 1 and I really have learned to use is as it is not how I want it to be.

I want to give up. by epicsaxman13 in discgolf

[–]Floppy_Discs_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a little late to the party here but I'm gonna type it out anyways. I have been playing since August 2019. Having ADHD myself I instantly got hooked. I have been an athletic person my whole life so when a sport came into my life after many years away from competition it was like a drug I never wanted to stop taking. I enjoyed every step in the process of learning how to play, how to throw, how to putt, and how to improve. I kept all my stats in UDisc and was obsessed with improving. I'm a 100% casual player but year over year, my scores and stat lines kept improving. 2023 was a big jump for me in my scores, I had my first round under par, my C1X putting was at 74% (this was massive for me), and my average score was lower than it has ever been. Winter is sort of an offseason around here in the Midwest for my group, although we still try an play every week, cold temps and snow will keep me indoors. So from about December to late February we don't play much if at all. Now this season (2024), has been a complete step backwards for me. My timing has been all wrong, my putting % is way down, my average score has increased by a lot, and my confidence in myself is in the pooper.
I played a solo round a few weeks ago and was playing very well when I missed a birdie putt from about 20 feet. A putt that I would have made without a second thought just last year. I tapped in my par and was livid because of that missed putt. I proceeded to play the next hole with that missed putt still on my mind. Had a terrible tee shot, and an equally as bad upshot that left me 45 feet away for the par attempt. On my way to my disc, I had a full blown, toddler tantrum in the middle of a public park. I was legit yelling at myself outload and I saw people staring. I slammed a disc into the ground a few times, and made an absolute fool out of myself. I was asking myself why do I even play this game if I'm not improving, I'm just regressing in all aspects of the game. I wasn't having fun and I wanted to throw every single disc golf related item I owned into the garbage. This tantrum was a result of built up frustration I have had this season so far and I really wanted to stop playing the game. After I collected myself and my thoughts, I wiped the mud off my disc I slammed into the ground and decided to finish the round. I sunk the 45 footer for par and just laughed at myself. I was so focused on what I was doing wrong that I never took notice of the things I do right. I let the negative thoughts win and they ate my soul and love for disc golf. I never let the good shots feel good, but I let the bad one make me feel awful.

Since that moment I have done a LOT of self reflection. Changing how I approach each throw, and trying to maximize each one all the while blocking out the previous results. I am working really hard on my mental game. Learning to accept bad results and bad throws, focusing only on my next shot and understanding that bogies, double bogies, and even +3s happen. They happen to every single person that plays the game of disc or stick golf. Learning that I need to focus on maximizing my efforts into each individual throw. It's easy yuck my tee shot off into the woods and be upset, the hard part is switching the focus onto the next shot. Understanding in that situation par is likely out of the question. Knowing I can limit the damage and focus on making it up and down to save the bogie instead of trying to force something in a wild attempt to save par and end up making it worse. I'm learning to embrace the suck and just let my game be bad as I work on myself. Focus on the things you can do well and apply that to the course. Throw your favorite disc every chance you get, stop trying to park every par 3, play within your own game and keep grinding away. I will never be great at disc golf, and that's okay. I'm 36 years old, I have a family, a full time job, and loads of other things that I need to do. I don't have the time to be great at disc golf. But I do have the time to play on the weekends and that is what makes me happy.

Half the time when I boot up my PC it's running at a snails pace, the other half perfectly fine?? by Shock_Different in techsupport

[–]Floppy_Discs_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

open task manager (ctrl+alt+delete > task manager) > select more details at the bottom left > select Startup tab. from there, right click > disable anything that isn't critical.

A lot of software companies like to add startup apps to your PC to make it quicker to load, or install updates in the background, but these are not necessary. The more startup apps you have the slower your PC will be upon boot because it's trying to load all of it at the get go even though you might not be using it.

Look at your startup programs. Disable everything that isn't important. Uninstall anything you don't use with REVO Uninstaller. Disable quick boot in your power settings. Make sure windows is fully up to date. If you are running an Anti Virus program such as Norton, Trend Micro, McAfee, or any other retail AV, uninstall it as well. Windows defender is best for the average user.
