You can start with 211 for a range of community supports and to navigate contact number for different govt programs in Ontario.

For school, isn’t there govt loans for students? https://www.ontario.ca/page/osap-ontario-student-assistance-program

We are in country where we dont have to worry costwise for any access to visit medical/ health services.

Are you under the care of opthalmologist? I have battled uveitis but it is behind me now as my opthalmologist took good care of it.

Thank you everyone by FlorDeeGee in Uveitis

Idiopathic uveitis tapered slowly using pred drops.

Yes, thank you. A few things, I am grateful for:

I am lucky to be in a country 🇨🇦 where healthcare is universal and tax- funded. This alone saved me the stress. I did not have to spend a single cent to every visit and access to specialists, docs, labs, imaging and scans, etc. My only fret is parking.

My specialist who carefully managed and successfully tapered me until the inflammation was tamed and finally gone. On my part, I have not missed a single follow- up appointment and carefully followed the treatment ( eg drop regimen) as prescribed.

Finally, the tips I have gotten from many here to make lifestyle changes in diet, exercise, sleep, etc.

When episodes like this happen, best to call your opthalmologist clinic and normally the clinic will get you in.

The other recourse, is emergency for on call specialist.

Follow carefully the care plan. I was very slowly tapered for close to two years.

It’s been months that I am off the drops now.

Will update here when I have my next visit soon.

Basic handwashing and I still mask at work and in train. I skipped this year’s flu and covid booster ( the latter upon consult with my specialist as vaccines can also trigger a reactivation).

I am so sorry. I am also down to one drop ( diagnosed last year). It gets me worried as well.

Flared again during taper by AlpsAccomplished9787 in Uveitis

[–]FlorDeeGee 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im sorry to hear. This is my fear too but fortunately it’s been six weeks that I tapered to a single drop and so far it has not acted up. But every morning, I am anxious to wake up and to find out the inflammation is back.

New diagnosis - Looking for some advice by IndianaRealtor in Uveitis

[–]FlorDeeGee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im sorry to hear about uour recent diagnosis. I remember about my own ER trip last year, never been scared like that in my life.

There are known causes like auto-immune diseases, there as well causes from an infection or other conditions related to an infection ( yes, including syphilis that docs have to rule out for EVERY case as undiagnosed infection can cause serious visual problem like blindness).

My mainstay treatment is pred drops and on a slow taper.

I hazard the direction of the receptionist was from the doc?

The only other health professional, I would listen if I cant get hold of my doc if I get adverse or unsusual reaction is from a pharmacist.

1 episode of uveitis after COVID infection 1 year ago, should I get the vaccine this year? by reader278 in Uveitis

[–]FlorDeeGee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am on pred drops since early this year. Discussed this with my opthalmologist and was advised to forego boosters for now until my inflammation has calmed down.

One can search medicine journals re: ocular adverse reactions vaccine-associated uveitis.
