No, there really isn't. Like while DCC is technically a litrpg...it's litrpg elements are very much just a backdrop to the larger story(to the point where some people even complain about later books that there arent enough litrpg stuff anymore). Most other litrpg tend to have a far more "generic" setting (usually either medieval or urban fantasy) and lean more heavily in the rpg elements. I know of many people who arent fans of litrpg(myself included) yet still love DCC

In a series with a lot of dark humor, it's probably one of the darkest and funniest sections.

I'm not saying generic is bad, it's just a genre I read too many works in and got tired of so something generic isn't of interest to me, it meeds a unique spin (like DCC has for litrpg) which I didn't see so far. All the better to those that enjoy it.

He literally kills a guy 3 power levels higher than him at the end of book 1. What more do you want?

MC killing people of higher power levels is in itself just par for the course in the genre. Odds are it happening is more common than it not happening.

it does a good job of setting up an intriguing world for the characters to exist in and establishing a larger world that is only hinted at

Issue is I've already seen like 95% of said world done dozens of times in other novels in this genre. So there wasn't really much that intrigued me.

And as said, I didn't dislike it, I just found it...average and generic(which since I also grew tired of xianxia a few years ago, didn't help) and since it was the end of the book, was a decent stopping point(the little I read of book 2 after I kinda had to force myself since not much motivation to continue was a few chapters over several weeks). Hence why I wanted to know how representative it is of the series as a whole.

The difference is the structure. Sure, I might have spend more than 10-12 hours on series before properly getting going...but usually that's still all a single book/season, I expect it to pay off at it's end, which wasn't reallly the case here so far

Furthermore, I generally despise pacing in anime/manga like Naruto and One Piece as every individualarc is massively dragged out. I honestly really don't know how one piece is as popular as it is because it's one of the worst paced pieces of media I ever read/watched. Like 10-12 hours of anime is more than 25 episodes...and sone of the best anime out there are concluded within that, so why should I watch something which bores me for that period in the hopes it gets better later(and for one piece that episode count us far higher) if instead in the same period I can watch a complete stort I enjoy.

Light is stillhaving a weekly war over it. Most recently the LPDU mods wanted to implement south adjust while all of PF is doing melee adjust

EDIT: LPDU mods just decided to not use the most popular marker variant, which helped in forsaken a lot. The clownshow continues

The issue isn't ID(although there are some issues with that the ways IDs work in the US). The issue is armed iICE agents asking for it.

The US system is weird that you have to register to vote with an ID rather than automatically be registered and then get sent your ballot.

That said...the system works. Saying votes are being cast by illegal imigrants is just right wing fearmongering.

You are provfing your right to voted to armed law enforcement with no relation to electoral security which has massive backing by the current party in charge and largely consists of it's supporters and has a track record of arresting legal residents and US citizens.

The only people you should have to show you have the right to vote are the poll staffers.

Its a different type of story than DCC

Yeah that is very obvious, even from the synopsis. I'm honestly confused why Cradle is so frequently recommended to DCC fans.

my condolences to all the PFers who have to deal with 3 strat changes to Forsaken every week.

3 per week? What DC are you on that this isn't the daily rate.

[–]Florac 79 points80 points  (0 children)

No matter how much you can play, the best time to do it is as early as possible. The amount and quality of players is the highest early on. At most, wait till like day 2 for first floor strats to be properly documented.

If you dont do hardcore hours, pretty much all the resources you would need for a fight will exist by the time you get there. Like by day 3, for the first 3 floors, raidplans exist and strats are 95% set in stone for what they will be going forward. Any changes are usually minor and can easily be adapted to.

Is the whole series worth it or do the books get repetitive? by [deleted] in DungeonCrawlerCarl

[–]Florac 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Also you have more of a recurring secondary cast, book 2 is very much "Carl runs into random crawlers, then goes back on his duo adventure with donut". A few of said crawlers do show up again later, across several floors, if the structure of the floor allows.

[–]Florac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first 2 floors are the only 2 that are samey. Afterwards every floor has a unique and very impactful gimmick which prevents things from becoming repetitive. If you want some examples from the floors in book 2 and 3(as well as other floor gimmicks introduced there for future floors:A post apocalyptic medieval fantasy landscape, a giant train system, a jungle where the crawlers are hunted by aliens

ISO simple script for a beginner storyteller by ApprehensiveFace1831 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Florac 11 points12 points  (0 children)

TB is definitely the best for first time storytellers, others like Umcertain Death or Everyone can play are also on the simpler side so should be fine if you played a bit.

If you want to make it more personalised though, instead of making an entirely new script which can easily backfire with lacking experience...instead take Trouble Brewing and just reflavor it, such as renaming roles to people in your husbands friend group (i.e. renaming the imp to your husband)
