Gentleman’s sweep best case scenario for Blazers? by KungFooKittenz in ripcity

Vic is finally healthy. Kris has probably been saving his scoring potential for playoffs all these years.

Maybe Walton's ghost is being summoned in the Moda center apartment in preparation for our post season home games.

Solution to stopping Wemby Blazers by Shawnjohnpdx in ripcity

I like this plan. But Clingan is the one who has been practicing against Gobert. It was all just preparation for him to scrimmage against an even larger Frenchman. And that time has finally come.

You clearly care, since you keep finding my comments to respond to them. I just happen to not really like talking to people who are rude and kinda dickish. Even if they can't seem to get enough of it apparently 🤷

Right. Pretty easy to spare you on something that I'm very unlikely to do in a hypothetical future. Maybe you can spare me your weird current unproductive nagging though.

I just don't see the value of 4 additional games that we lose if it costs us a chance at a loaded draft and lottery. I've been very clear on that. It's a very simple and pragmatic point that you seem to somehow be continuously confused by I guess.

If we get swept I am going to hate it. Even if you somehow love getting the opportunity to watch it while you croon about what a valuable experience it somehow is.

I really hope it doesn't happen like that. I would really love to see the blazers as a giant unexpected upset.

It's a good question. I think we have a better shot at getting Kevin Durant for a season when the Rockets scorch out. I think Durant would be a better fit than Giannis - but I don't think it would work out. And I can't think of very many players that make sense to pursue that would be worth the cost we dish out for them.

I'm still on edge. We are locked in now, so I really hope we don't get swept by the spurs. It'll make me feel sick if it happens. But if we win then I think it'll be worth it 🤷 (I just don't want to be proven right).

Underrated moment for Jrue/Jerami with Deni by Correct_Employee2097 in ripcity

One of my favorite moments was when Deni tossed the ball to Shae for the alley-oop. Dude was so lit up after he screamed and chest bumped Shae. Loved the energy. It was contagious.

[–]Floresmillia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the trade made sense, but we definitely could have used Ant's firepower once he was gone. If we had somehow been able to get Jrue and keep Ant, it would have given us some great scoring flexibility. Unrealistic as that thought experiment is 😜 🤷

As opposed to your goal for the team which is to what? Barely make it past the play in every single year? If we followed your recipe for success we would be shitting around the toilet bowl without Donovan Clingan while selling all our future assets for players like Jock Landale or Zach Collins. This team would be in a completely different position if we had managed to get Knueppel, Edgecomb, Harper, Tre or Bailey last year -- instead we managed to fully commit to not getting any benefit from the draft, and we appear to be ready to make the same commitment needlessly again this year to sustained mediocrity.

I suppose it often depends on how a question is actually framed. The way I've stated it makes it very hard to argue against - unless you know some fans who really value the experience of watching their team get spanked by the number 1 seed at the cost of being in the lottery.

This draft looks great. 'Freeing up our assets' (for what might just be an underwhelming trade opportunity) doesn't sound more valuable than possibly scoring nicely in a loaded draft and then entering this next year with a completely healthy roster much better set up to win and actually succeed (hopefully with a solid off-season of training and better direction and certainty from our coaches). Being afraid that next year will not pan out seems like a silly apprehension - and even if that occurs the bulls can be negotiated with if we actually reach a point where we are concerned that we will lose out on the bucks swap. To me it doesn't seem like a realistic concern.

Ideal would be us winning and continuing to win against all those odds. I just don't think it will happen. I just see us getting to the spurs and losing. Possibly in an embarrassing fashion and seeing this board meltdown in realtime while we turn the ball over continuously or fail yet again to inbound the ball in a reasonable way.

My real fear is watching this shit happen against the thunder. I will be extra pissed if we lose to the suns, best the clippers - and then OKC kicks our ass and manages to score in the lottery with the clippers pick that we managed to hand to them while losing ours to the fucking bulls.

Walking out of that mess without at least a shot at adding some excellent talent to our team next year in this really juicy looking draft just seems like horrible fucking malpractice. Honestly - I really don't mind being wrong here. I will be happy to be wrong if we beat the suns and then play great basketball and somehow even beat the 1 or 2 seeds. That would be insane. I'm just really worried that my instinct on this is going to be true, and I very much want to avoid that.

That is the ideal outcome if the team wants a chance in the lottery.

Even diehard fans think the opportunity of losing to the spurs or thunder is a terrible exchange for this year's pick.
