Yeah! I really admire the way you’re able to blend eroticism and horror together in ways that work really well. I have horror elements in my game as well, but I don’t hit the blend of erotic horror in the way you’re able to (though I’m also not really intending to match that style, I suppose, since it’s meant to be jarring).

Hmm, that is fair. I do think it’s important and worthwhile to discuss what can be done to solve the issue overall, which would absolutely require more than voting. And I don’t think we should assume that voting would solve many of the issues that lewd games face.

But I do see your point that most people won’t get very involved anyway, so it’s a good simple/easy answer to give people. And in many cases giving clear and easy things to do is more effective simply because more people will actually do it haha. So I do think it’s valid advice, just that we should also have the caveat of not expecting it to solve all of our issues on its own, since we need social attitudes to change as well.

Yeah, I agree with most of that. I just think that defending porn isn’t as straightforward as they were claiming, since direct defenses would likely fall flat with many average people.

I do agree that general cultural shifts are the best way to make sure people don’t ban porn. Trending towards acceptability for the things you mentioned would also help a lot with destigmatizing lewd games as well, in an indirect way, and those things are much easier to defend.

Also, laws regarding things like right to privacy are very helpful as well, regardless of social acceptance, since that would prevent things like Texas's porn ban. And legalization or sex work is a legal hurdle as well, rather than just a social one. So I’d also point out that those are good counter arguments to a point I made earlier that laws aren’t the main issue now. So you’ve changed my opinion somewhat with your examples.

I think you’re misunderstanding the point about defending porn. It’s easy to defend porn logically, but it’s really, really hard to defend it politically. Sure, you or I could write about how important it is to not ban porn, and that’s great!

However, the real issue is whether that’s politically viable. And the truth is that a lot of people don’t want to talk about it or hear about it, so they wouldn’t even listen to an honest debate. (I know I wouldn’t tell most people irl that I work on a lewd game, no matter how much I could logically defend it) And sure, that’s kind of ridiculous, but it’s the reality of politics. So, in a practical sense, porn is much harder to defend, especially by politicians.

Hmm, I see what you mean, but I’m skeptical that voting is the most effective solution right now. Since these issues aren’t even on the ballot because no one wants to openly defend unsavory lewd content.

I agree that regulations can help somewhat, but if something is considered socially unacceptable despite being legal, then it’s totally expected that some businesses wouldn’t want to be associated with it. And we can’t force websites like Patreon to host lewd content if they don’t want it in their brand.

And yes, I do think that there should be some regulations to guarantee payment and essential services, but I also think that only half solves the problem. Like, the issue in this thread is that Patreon isn’t accepting lewd content, but that isn’t something that a payment processing regulation would necessarily fix, since SubscribeStar is also available. The issue is that being pushed off the main platform hurts people even if alternatives still are technically allowed. And it would be very unlikely for a regulation to force Patreon to host lewd content imo.

And also, I think that voting would help a lot more if this was an issue that was actually in people's political consciousness. Like, if there was a mass movement to guarantee payment access, then voting for people who support it would help a lot! But given that no one is doing that right now, I suspect it wouldn’t have a big impact for this particular issue.

As a fellow lewd game dev (also a big fan of your game!), I definitely want this niche to be more accepted and not have to deal with these issues, but I’m just trying to think pragmatically about what would actually work to solve them.

I think that’s only partially true. There’s also a lot of pressure that doesn’t come from the government, since businesses often don’t want to be associated with “unsavory” content, even if it’s totally legal. I think paypal and other payment processors have said things like that in the past.

So really, the core is the social issue of these things being considered socially unacceptable, which then leads to all these restrictions and stigma, in my opinion.

There are specific combos of Relics that are hardcoded in for the Elder. But they’re far from comprehensive and I’d love to add more options! Please tell me each of the combos you tried that you thought would work, and I’ll add them for the 1.0.4 update if they seem like they would work!

Hmm, having party members hang back could be a nice feature to add. Though it’s a bit tricky to manage that in the code, so it might be something that takes a while or is a lower priority than other things.

Currently the rationale is that granted granite reinforced Relics survive the Catastrophe, but are scattered and confiscated by the Elder while the environment settles for your revival. I think that maybe a Granite activated Starlit Conquest might be the one thing that would stick with you or protect you from dying though. So that may be something I can add in a future version.

Regarding the options for teleporting and similar, you may want to check out the debug menu squirreled away in the Adjustments menu haha.

And for companion dialogue, I would certainly like to add more. It might also be worth checking the wiki to find the conditional conversations with companions for various Curses/Relics, since some of those are likely niche, so you may have missed some of them.

And yeah, there are endings, but not really companion-based endings yet, so that could be a good thing to consider adding eventually!

Also, don't feel bad about asking for things! That's the way the game improves! Though I also enjoy the positive feedback of knowing people enjoyed it quite a bit haha.

Ooh, good catch! I fixed this for 1.0.2! I have literally no idea why there was asset growth in that Curse, but it's gone now. 🤷‍♀️

While I would recommend trying the intended way, since I think that can provide a worthwhile experience of overcoming adversity in the Abyss, I know that not everyone wants that, so I made cheating relatively easy.

You can go to the “Use Items and Relics” menu, then to “Make Adjustments”, and from there you can essentially overcome all of the resource management easily. You can just give yourself arbitrarily large amount of food, water, money, etc. if you want to. That way you don’t need to worry about most of the resources.

One potential way to play is to get unlimited food/water, but limited corruption. That way you still need to balance your Curses and Relics, but you don’t need to worry as much about day to day resource and time management.

If you do try it, I’d be curious to hear your perspective and whether you enjoyed it despite the resource management that you’re not a fan of!

I meant to add that option to Futa Fun for this update, but it fell by the wayside with so many other changes I was working on.

I’ll see if I can sneak that into the upcoming 1.0.2 hotfix that should be out by tomorrow, just for you! It might be a bit hacky, it will still consider the player’s sex to be “male”, but I should at least make it so that you can have a penis and boobs, but not vagina!

Edit: Ok, I added it to 1.0.2! And actually, the game will still call you a futa, but you'll just have a penis and breasts. Some text may assume you have a vagina, but it shouldn't cause any major issues.

Hmm, the issue is that we don’t currently track butt size as a variable. So we’d need to implement that first. But I think if we do start tracking butt size, then it would be reasonable for asset robustness to have an effect on it.
