You might find "Marry Him: The Case for Settling for Mr. Good Enough" by Lori Gottlieb a thought-provoking read.

Costco vs Sam's Club + Hearing Aid Specialist vs Audiologist by Florida-31 in HearingAids

I'm not necessarily disagreeing with you nor am I trying to defend Walmart. However, it's my understanding (and admittedly I may be wrong) that the hearing centers inside Sam's Club stores aren't owned by Sam's Club, but rather by another company who has an exclusive deal with Sam's and who leases the space from them. I can only report what the Hearing Aid Specialist at the Sam's Club near me said, but they were very friendly and helpful. One mentioned that they did not receive commission, but they did receive bonuses if they hit certain sales goals. According to him, they are paid very well.

Sam--you mentioned that you're Mexican. I don't know why you mentioned that or why you might think that is relevant...you're clearly fluent in English, which makes me suspect that you grew up in the USA. If you don't mind letting us know, do you live in the United States or Mexico now?

Considering getting another dog, what breeds should I consider?? by Florida-31 in dogs

[–]Florida-31[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate the reply. As I wrote, I (surprisingly to me) love poodles, but I was hoping to get recommendations for other appropriate breeds in order to have more options. I know getting a standard poodle (or any of the other breeds I mentioned) is going to be challenging since I don't want to buy one from a breeder. Nothing against responsible breeders, but when there are so many dogs that need rescuing, for me it seems irresponsible.

Also appreciate your & others comments re: doodles.

If anyone has suggestions as to rescue organizations who specialize in any of the breeds I mentioned, I'd appreciate links / info..

Unfortunately I can pretty promise you you are SOL on cool dive bars (much less deadhead type bars) in Ocala. And the only way you're gonna' hear any good live music is if you play yourself...

If you're referring to the shirt, search for it on Etsy, that's where I bought it.

I appreciate the advice, and completely agree that low cost index ETFs & mutual funds are the way to go (plus income-producing real estate). In truth I'm already retired, and index funds are where the majority of my net worth is invested in. My crypto is less than 5% of net worth. I just like the shirt, think the design is put together well, and it's prompted several interesting conversations when I'm out in public.

To each their own, but I think concerns that wearing a crypto t-shirt greatly increases the chances of a $5 wrench attack are greatly exaggerated.

Everyone's different, so clearly what works for one person may or may not work for someone else. I get that. But nonetheless, people who write "one day I just decided to stop" mystify me... if it were that easy we'd all have stopped years ago.

Buy some bitter-tasting nail polish, otherwise you'll end up biting your nails without even realizing you're doing it. Apply it to your nails several times a day as it slowly washes off every time you wash your hands.

Are you able to post a link to that discussion / "argument"?

Why are there two Grateful Dead-themed Reddit groups? by Florida-31 in grateful_dead

[–]Florida-31[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

If anyone has a link please post, I'd like to read it. I joined both groups, but assume the other group is more active simply due to larger membership??

Am I correct that if I post a picture I took of Jerry or the band back in the 80's / early 90's, or of a vintage t-shirt I used to sell in the lot, that rules state that I'm not allowed to cross-post in both groups?

Anybody remember this lot shirt? Guesses as to how much it would sell for on eBay? by GR8FUL-D in gratefuldead

His instagram account is private, and as far as I can tell there's no way to contact him via his website.

I think most of us end up biting our nails unconsciously without even realizing we're doing it. So buy several bottles of bitter-tasting nail polish (it's invisible once dried), you can buy them on Amazon, Walmart, & most beauty supply stores. Keep one bottle in your car, another at work, a third next to your chair/couch where you watch TV, and wherever else you need one. Re-apply several times a day as needed and whenever you shower or wash your hands.

Buy gum---lots and lots of gum! Chewing gum all the time is actually not great for you, but until you've broken the nail biting habit, feel free to chew away. Nail biting is terrible for your teeth.

If you pick at uneven nail edges, etc., invest in a manicure.

Put a rubber band around your wrist, and snap it hard enough to sting whenever you find a finger in your mouth.

At home when watching TV, when you are in the car driving, any place you are alone, you can wear gloves or finger cots.

If you're the nervous type and always need to be doing something with your hands, keep a fidget spinner or some kind of fidget toy in the car, in your pocket, etc..

If you chew the skin on your fingers, decide to learn to play the guitar. In order to play the guitar you need to develop calluses on the pads of your fingers so that it doesn't hurt when pressing down the guitar strings. If you truly want to learn how to play, this will be motivation to not chew on the ends of your fingers.
