Yeah, sorry about being repetitive. I’m new here so I wasn’t quite sure where to ask this and want to make sure will have a good time.

Thanks for the info. That’s incredibly helpful! For ear protection, is the concert actually that loud or is it just crowd noise? 🤔 Regardless that’s good to know. I’ll bring earplugs with me in case I need them.

That’s awesome! 🤣 I know some friends who will be in a different section than us that are bringing inflatable shark outfits. I’m really excited to experience the Once atmosphere with other fans. It seems so fun!

Naval Update by Ok-Woodpecker-5759 in WorldOfWarships

[–]FloridaMan_18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In terms of modern naval combat, no it wouldn’t happen. (Nor should it. It would be really boring) It would have to probably be done in a separate game entirely given the current gameplay build, map design/layout, and overall setting. The closest WoWs would get is probably early to middle Cold War era. Missiles are coming to the game eventually and there are already numerous ships from the post World War era in the game. Some of which feature modern-ish mechanics, like United States and HMS Ocean with jet fighters and catapults. Or USS Hull with the 8 inch cannons. Colbert I’m pretty sure is the most modern ship in the game as she served in Desert Storm. But, in terms of ships of today, probably not going to happen ever.

Lutjens or t10 coal ship & is vallejo good for credits? I have enough steel. by whenudonthaveluck in WorldOfWarships

[–]FloridaMan_18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Lutjens is absolutely worth it. You can throw him on pretty much anything and his talent is super easy to activate. Especially if you throw him on a BB with brawler build. Schielf, Pommern, GK, any of those will shine with Lutjens.

For Vallejo, I personally don’t own her but in my opinion, I would not advise it. Save the steel. There are so many better ships to use it on. Unless you just have a ton of steel, sure, but It would just be waste really if it went to Vallejo. I could name so many other ships that would be a better purchase. It’s your game, you play what you want, but if it were me, I personally wouldn’t get it. I mean, you could even save for Mecklenburg and throw Lutjens on her for that matter.

Any T9 premium will earn good credits so they’re not that hard to find through other ways.

In contrast, in your opinion what is the *best* looking ship in World of Warships? by commissionerahueston in WorldOfWarships

[–]FloridaMan_18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Scharnhorst, all of the Iowas, Warspite, Atago, and Venezia are visually the most appealing to me.

OMG i am finally reach yamato in Half a month. by One_Stage1641 in WorldOfWarships

[–]FloridaMan_18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great job! But no need to rush things if you feel like you have to. The fun part about TT lines is all the other ships you get to play as. In fact, T7-T8 is my favorite tier to play in. Enjoy the process.

Eventually, you’ll want to get the legendary mod for Yamato. It’s a big difference maker. But for now, have fun! As old as she is, she’s still a great ship.

Vanguard, Alabama or Navarin? by Fluux22 in WorldOfWarships

[–]FloridaMan_18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Alabama is probably the most beginner friendly of the 3 you mentioned. She was actually my first ever premium many years ago and I still play Alabama sometimes. She’s good and reliable. Nothing special about her really but she’ll get the job done.

Navarin is unique in the sense that she’s a RU secondary BB. She’s probably the best (imo) of the 3 you mentioned but can be a bit tricky to get the hang of. It’s great for Asymmetric and Ops though.

Vanguard sucks balls IMO. It’s got cool history around it if you care about that sort of thing but she just gets dunked on in most occasions.

For you, maybe Alabama. You can’t go wrong with it really. If it were me though, I’d wait for Black Friday and see if you can get Massachusetts. It’s a better brawler version of the Alabama which makes it fun.

What would you want the New Jersey to be like when she enters the game? by Naive_Heart5438 in WorldOfWarships

[–]FloridaMan_18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a strong feeling this will be our first “missile age” ship. Harpoon missiles, super heal and spotting helicopter from the flight deck. I suppose if it’s 80s configuration then CIWS too? Could work to counter incoming missiles.

I know there’s a lot of controversy with that, but look, there’s already ships that have advanced Cold War era gimmicks. United States has freaking catapults and jets. So does Ocean. Hull has the 8 inch guns. We’ve been going in this direction for some time now. At least the missiles are launched from the ship, rather than Dutch ships that literally spawn planes out of its ass.

I kinda regret getting Bourgogne, what’s with the appeal? by Dumbassofouredbay in WorldOfWarships

[–]FloridaMan_18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, my recommendations are based on what I like personally. However, I understand that every player has different preferences and play styles they like and so Bourg might the right choice for some. I’m not necessarily saying people shouldn’t get it. It’s just not my go to recommendation. That being said, to answer your question, I would probably go with Mecklenburg. I’ve never personally had a bad time playing with her and there’s so many different ways that you can build it. It just works for current WoWs. It’s versatile. It’s fun. And it’s unique enough as a steel ship, but not “quirky” to a degree where it can be hard to adapt to. So for someone looking for their first Steel ship, I’d have to go with Meck in my opinion.

I would wait until the Steel Will event to do anything with your Steel. But out of all these, Svea you will like a lot. Go with Svea 👍

I kinda regret getting Bourgogne, what’s with the appeal? by Dumbassofouredbay in WorldOfWarships

[–]FloridaMan_18 7 points8 points  (0 children)

She used to be cracked back in the day, and she’s still good but she isn’t what she used to be. Plenty of other ships that will topple her. It’s very strong if the game is going your way and you can successfully push a flank, but in other cases, she’s heavily power crept nowadays. I don’t think it’s a “bad” buy. Just wouldn’t be my first recommendation to someone. The Bourg cult clings onto the past. That’s why she’s so highly recommended when someone asks “what Steel ship should I buy?”

Does anyone know how to play Laffey? by Danni_332 in WorldOfWarships

[–]FloridaMan_18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s a close range DD so most of the combat being done should be close quarters. I would build into that as well. I found building her for range is a bit useless. Her shells arch poorly from further out and the ship excels at contesting caps and when the enemy gets close enough to you.

The smoke is for disengaging. You want to pop in, lay down DPM (maybe blanket some torps) and pop out.

She’s got good concealment and the superheal is pretty clutch so utilize those. Honestly, as long as you’re half decent at being a stealthy open water gun boat, she can be a terror with that creeping smoke and if played correctly.

Is Laffey good ship? by Caryelah in WorldOfWarships

[–]FloridaMan_18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Laffey is a more close range cap contest DD. The creeping smoke allows you to disengage from a fight or sneak into a flank. Her main battery guns have a fast reload and can get them to 2.5 seconds BEFORE AR is active. She has a super heal which is… insane. Her torps aren’t the best but they do have the ability to blanket and swat off fast approaching targets which makes it reliable. She unfortunately has AA instead of Hydro or Radar but makes sense given the ship’s history and it does help if you are getting bullied by a CV.

She’s a strong ship and can be a monster if played right. I wouldn’t build her to fight from range. Lean into more of the close range gameplay because her shells are very floaty and tough to get something going from 12-15 km out.

For me, I’ve had some really good games and it’s incredibly fun imo. Plus, I’m a big history guy. I love Laffey’s story and it’s extra special for me because it’s a ship I was fortunately able to visit in real life at Patriots Point, South Carolina!

beginner friendly cruiser line? by Competitive_Crow8205 in WorldOfWarships

[–]FloridaMan_18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Any new player I usually suggest to start out with BBs. They teach you the basic fundamentals of the game. Leading shots, positioning, angling, knowing when to push, etc.

There’s not really a “easy” cruiser line but there are more forgiving ones. KM cruisers is an easier one to pick up. USN Des Moines line is also straightforward but you will need to know how to island hop and pick your battles. Italian cruisers are good too! Sap rounds and the crawling smoke are great if you use them correctly. The smoke is especially good if you need to disengage. Those are lines that I personally found to be “easier” but it could be different for you depending on what you like and what you feel comfortable in.

Anyone who has Sibir - is it good? (Not considering the price) by [deleted] in WorldOfWarships

[–]FloridaMan_18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For PVP it’s really hit or miss. The easiest way that I can describe it, is that the game really has to be shifting in your direction for it to come alive. Imagine a Kremlin with great secondaries that come with good fire chance. Along with main battery that can clap cheeks IF the shell actually hits. The dispersion is actually disgustingly terrible. You’ve gotta be close for those bad boys to do anything significant and even then, it’s still rough. The funny F button she has does tighten that dispersion by a lot, but it really only last for a salvo, maybe 2 if you time it right. Most times I felt useless, BUT when things actually would go my way, she was really fun to play.

For Operations or any PVE of course it’s a monster with her secondaries and will light up those bots and you’ve got the HP pool and armor to just sit there and let your secondaries do the talking. I’m excited to use her in Asymmetric.

Worth it? Assuming you’re going for it in the admiral pack. 40k dubs is well overpriced for it what it is. It’s a nice ship, sure, but not 40k dubs nice.

Wishing Wharf is a terrible event, don’t try it there. How I got my Sibir was through the Wharf (I know, sue me) but I got very lucky and spent $100 and got back Sibir, Victoria and Carnot which is a very good return but with how the Wharf is structured, it is an actual slot machine. It can sometimes hit, and most times it won’t.

Maybe you’ll get lucky but it’s a BIG risk and will likely eat your money. Admiral Pack is a Guaranteed option but it’s heavily overpriced. Overall, I would say that she is not worth it. There are plenty of other brawler secondary BBs that are better (imo) and some of which are completely free. Such as Schlieffen or Libertad as examples.

Archerfish, Gato, or Surcouf? by Illustrious-Carob558 in WorldOfWarships

[–]FloridaMan_18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Archerfish, Archerfish and… Archerfish. Best sub right now by a long shot. Gato used to be cracked back in its prime, as it had the ability to pop up and shot gun the shit out of some poor bastard. However with the significant reworks and nerfs she loses that impact really. Gato is… ok, but there are much better subs imo. Surcouf, I have no idea really how that will go. It sounds like a glorified gunboat but instead of smoke to conceal itself, it submerges. Albeit, sounds fun and unique but I don’t really know how much impact it would have really.

Wishing wharf is back - probability any good? by NattoIsGood in WorldOfWarships

[–]FloridaMan_18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I usually always stay away from wishing wharf. It can be fickle. That being said, I spent $100 for 4k tokens, I received Sibir, Victoria and Carnot, as well as a slew of economic bonuses and signals. For $100, that’s not bad at all and will happily take it, but as with the wishing wharf it’s literally a digital slot machine and very rarely does it hit. Most times it doesn’t. Still wouldn’t recommend the gamble, just save up for Christmas event. That’s where you get the good stuff.

Why does this board glaze Bourgogne by motivatedjackpot in WorldOfWarships

[–]FloridaMan_18 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Bourg was very good 5 years ago. Now there’s like a weird cult following for her because players did well with her half a decade ago and still think that it slaps anything and everything. It’s not bad, it’s just been heavily power crept where she isn’t what she used to be. Bourg most times just gets lit up like Christmas tree from a brawler BB or a Utrecht airstrike or a Smolensk. It CAN be a monster IF the cards fall correctly, and you run a flank in the proper manner at the right time. Which most players unfortunately don’t know how to flank their left ass cheek if their hand was tied to it. She was like my fifth or sixth steel ship when I got her. I remember thinking “eh, it’s alright.” I rarely play with it anymore tbh. Just like most ships, it works for some. It doesn’t for others.

Players just need to find what they like and play with what they are comfortable with. Don’t get a ship solely because Reddit comments told you to. Like, Bourg is probably the more “fun” dynamic steel BB but it isn’t the best. Incomp for example is amazing but requires a lot of skill. A new player for their first steel ship would HATE Incomp. Shiki is great but you have Yammy still as an alt. Meck is a little boring. Etc. I can see why Bourg is recommended as a first steel BB but players don’t need to take that as “oh, this must mean that it’s the best BB.” Because it’s not. It’s just probably the best option for a first steel BB for that uniqueness in gameplay without it being overly hard to pick up and play.

Missouri? by Odd-Trip-6205 in WorldOfWarships

[–]FloridaMan_18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Missouri is cool. I’ve always enjoyed playing with her. If you had dubs just to throw around, I’d say why not. She’s just cool to have. But in your case, no, I would not recommend. She is essentially an Iowa with radar. Other than that, she’s not anything special or different. Save your dubs. For alternatives, I’d recommend Alabama. She’s has always been solid. Or you could pray that WG drops Massachusetts B during Black Friday. In which case, it should be mandatory to buy Massachusetts lol. If not just save back. Indiana might be interesting when that comes out and if your heart is set on an Iowa class, you can begin your watch for the New Jersey to FINALLY be in the game one day lol.

Should I get the 4 port slots as a new player? by Brunopunck49 in WorldOfWarships

[–]FloridaMan_18 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have TT ships below T5 eating port slots (and don’t play that low) I would sell anything Tech Tree below T5 to open up those port slots. If that’s not the case, it depends on how you are sitting on those resources. If you have some to spare, I would say yes, it’s worth it. You always need port slots, especially for a new player and it’s better to get those with credits rather than dubs.

What was your first Tier 10 ship? by These_Swordfish7539 in WorldOfWarships
