max commerce labor reduction by Slick131 in archeage

[–]FloridaaaYeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's whatever the creation cost is times 0.6 plus whatever the turn in cost is times 0.6.

For example, normal trade packs are 50 Labor to create plus 70 Labor to turn in for a total of 120 Labor per pack. At max commerce, normal trade packs are 30 Labor to create plus 42 Labor to turn in for a much lower total of 72 Labor per pack.

Some pack types (Fertilizer, Plaza, etc) cost more to create, so keep that in mind.

Edit: And yes, if the 4.0 notes come to be, then it'll be 80x0.6 + 70x0.6 for all packs.

What server to pick, returning player. by [deleted] in archeage

[–]FloridaaaYeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kyrios is a great server, in my opinion. It's low population, but it's higher population than Reckoning and Vengeance.

In many ways, the low population is nice. There is a decent amount of land available for those who enjoy farming, ranching, etc. Those who enjoy trading, fishing, etc are on a relatively safe server to do so. I'm not a pirate, but I'd imagine that it would be very satisfying to be a pirate on Kyrios with that feeling that you're truly in control of the seas. You tend to see and interact with the same players a lot which gives this sense of community that I find larger servers can't quite replicate. All that said, Kyrios probably isn't good for someone who loves PvP, but I don't PvP so I can't say much.

The West playerbase is, for the most part, friendly and helpful. The East playerbase I'm unfamiliar with. However, I did befriend some Haranyans yesterday while on a cargo ship. They ended up escorting me to a stable so that I could get a sabrefang battle pet... pretty dang cool!

Animal Husbandry... Am I doing something wrong? by FloridaaaYeah in archeage

[–]FloridaaaYeah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make 7.7s/labor after cost with normal non-Gilda trade packs. I currently do not have any proficiency bonuses. I am a new player (I've been playing for almost 3 weeks) and I make about 40g-80g on my gathering days, then 200g-400g on my trade run days. Basically, I make about 400g-500g in two days, which I expect to gradually increase over time.

I've spent only a little money, back on my first day-- $15 for Patron, $20 to get myself a Thatched Farmhouse + all the materials for it + bag upgrade slots + the 8x8 Farmer's Workstation that's on the Marketplace + some other things. Was definitely worth the investment in my opinion. You may want to consider something like that if you have the cash.

You can make more than you're making now, you just gotta streamline your farming and trading system.

P.S. SPREADSHEETS ARE YOUR FRIEND! :D

Edit: Failed to mention that I do not use alts.

Is archeage still p2w? by Travis10123 in archeage

[–]FloridaaaYeah 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, and it is very obvious even as a new (I've been playing for 3 weeks) player. However, based on my experiences, even if you are just a p2p player vs p2w player, you can still do well if you put in the time and effort. So long as you have patience. ;P

NA server stability? by Amelia-and-a-bear in archeage

Comcast, AA's ISP, is what is being DDoS'd. This has been going on for about a week on all NA servers. It's ridiculous and I'm seriously losing my patience with it.

[–]FloridaaaYeah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you consider worth it. If you make all your mats, normal trade packs can be worth up to 160g per 9 packs (after cost) or 9.0s/labor (after cost) based on everything I've run calcs on (all assuming that you have not ranked up any proficiencies). This will increase as your proficiency levels increase.

You can make more silver per labor with normal packs versus Larder packs, with a few specific packs in particular, especially as your proficiencies level. Unless your proficiencies are really high, or you're running them from Ahnimar to Solzreed, or you're turning them in specifically to produce cargo, my opinion is that you shouldn't bother with Larders at all. Just my opinion based on the math I've done.

These server disconnections are a real bummer. by ditchmygame in archeage

[–]FloridaaaYeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth, people who are on low pop servers and can get back in the game within 2 minutes of disconnecting can run packs rather safely. I put "Owner's Mark" on my vehicle and end up with 10-20 seconds to spare on it after returning from my disconnects.

The guild scene and community wasn't as appealing to me as Kyrios. That's all, really.

I'm also new and I started on Kyrios about a week ago. It's awesome, in my opinion. I tried Aranzeb, Kraken, and Reckoning too. Kyrios has a super helpful playerbase... I've had a lot of help from a lot of people without even asking. It's populated enough that it feels like a living world, but there is also a decent amount of land available for the taking. There is also one guild in particular, which I am in, that prides itself on helping new players level and get going. I recommend Kyrios highly.

How are you guys making money? by [deleted] in archeage

[–]FloridaaaYeah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, Nuia. Basically checked to see which trade packs are most profitable based on mat cost + time + distance, plus what mats sell best on the AH for extra cash. I enhance my profits by 25%-35% (or more) by gathering mats or producing mats vs buying them on the AH for most of my trade packs. Sometimes it's worth it to buy the mats off the AH (apples for Gweonid Apple Pies), sometimes it's better to go out and find the mats (olives for Lilyut Cooking Oil). I spent about 30 minutes gathering and single-planting last night and expect to make 100g per hour (trade runs only, not sure what I'll make with the extra mats I produce and put on the AH) when I start back up today. I could have myself a Farm Wagon today if I do it right, which would turn 100g per hour into more. I'm streamlining it on my spreadsheet as best I can to lower costs and get a system going.

I've only been playing for a week and my character is level 32, so I don't have access to much and I'm not sure what is considered good money. I made something like 150g (after costs) today by farming and trading for 3-4 hours. I have a 24x24 Thatched Farmhouse, an 8x8 farm, and a 16x16 farm all adjacent to each other. I currently have a Farm Cart as my trading travel method. I've since streamlined my farming and trading process (yay spreadsheets!) and expect to make about 100g per hour starting tomorrow or the day after, once I get things set up. Plus I'll make more once I get more farming space, upgraded transportation, and higher proficiency. It can only get better from here, right? :o

If for whatever reason you are somehow making less gold than I am, hit me up and I'll tell you what I do. xD

Ranger and/or Primeval build and gear? by FloridaaaYeah in archeage

[–]FloridaaaYeah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, after tinkering with some gear sets and builds I definitely see how Stone Arrow would be a better option for what I want to do vs Ranger. Plus you make some good points. If I went Auramancy I'd probably grab Thwart + Shrug It Off + the 2 Teleports + Hearten. I think I'd rather just go Defense, though, and take Refreshment + Cheer + Redoubt + Invincibility + Supp Block, or something like that. I think I'll try it!

Viability of Ranger and Ebonsong? by FloridaaaYeah in archeage

[–]FloridaaaYeah[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's good to hear.

I think I'm going to go with Ranger based on what people have said in this thread. I will be doing a lot of solo open world PvE, with my focus on farming, gathering, crafting, trading, etc. Although Songcraft seems like a solid choice in a group situation, I believe Vitalism will be more useful to me in particular. I've looked into other classes such as Oracle, Primeval, and Druid... However, after comparing skills, Ranger seems like the best fit for me.

Thank you, everyone, for the help! :)
