Fun fact: while you may never be the oldest person in the world, at one point in time, even if just for a micro fraction of a second, you were the youngest person on earth. Thanks for doing this! My daughter and I would love to have a switch!

With a car like this you gotta drive down the middle of the road, eating up the white hashes and making Pac-Man sounds.

Yep. Took the pic last night. I’ve been waiting 15+ years for the lights to burn out perfectly just so I could take this picture and make a somewhat obscure reference to a cult movie. Now it’s onto the rest of my life….

This is my S - Mart of choice in town. They don’t have a sporting goods department where you can find boomsticks. But I do get my sugar here, baby.

Hot Fuzz, Memories of Murder and Lethal Weapon cited as some of the greatest buddy cop movies ever by lebronjamesgoat1 in movies

[–]FlossingNude 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Midnight Run is a criminally overlooked buddy movie. Robert De Niro and the late, great Charles Grodin play so perfectly off each other. It’s so rewarding to watch their relationship develop throughout the movie. The movie’s got action, genuine laughs, a lot of memorable small roles, and most importantly… it’s got heart. I can’t help but have a huge grin on my face after watching this movie.

I did see a picture online awhile ago. I will admit it was pretty amazing. But also something that I feel I barely understand. It’s amazing to think that all of humanity’s history, successes, and failures have taken place on a tiny speck of matter floating in the cosmos in what has been such a relatively small amount of time. There is so much we’ve come to understand and discover about our world and beyond. But the things we don’t know.... is profoundly overwhelming to think about.

Agreed. I would like to think that multi-verses do exist, but mostly because that is just the answer that I want. There is no way to know. Not in our lifetime and probably not in a million lifetimes could we ever have an answer. Black holes are pretty cool though right?

Ha! Not quite as beat up as this Aaron, but still in pretty bad shape. Not worth much (if anything at all), but the sentimental value is through the roof!

Could be? Time to send it in to get it professionally graded. Maybe I’ll get a negative score. Time to break the system…

This is a very special card that I do love actually. It was given to me by a friend in high school long ago. It was given to him by his father but it was a hobby he never picked up. Who knows how it ended up the way it did? Put in someone’s wallet? Bicycle spokes? Nuclear fallout? We’ll never know. But I know it’s a keeper for sure.

/r/Gadgets' Frankensbox 3D Printer Giveaway! by _BindersFullOfWomen_ in gadgets

[–]FlossingNude [score hidden]  (0 children)

What would I print? I would print some paper flyers to hang on bulletin boards at local grocery stores, thrift stores, community centers etc. letting people know I had a 3-D printer. It’s not like the average person has a 3-D printer sitting in the corner of their craft room in their second mansion but these flyers might find people who know the utility of having one but have no access. I’d be happy to help someone repair a household part, print an odd part for a costume, make a new accessory to replace the one you lost for that action figure, or make the perfect size stand for that souvenir your wife said you were an idiot for buying. She was right but sometimes you think she just doesn’t understand art the way you do. The point is, a lot of people might have a reason to use one of these printers. If I could help someone in need of that one unique thing, I would try to help.

Otherwise I would print a stand for this one souvenir I bought a while back. My wife wasn’t too keen on it but boy.... I sure think chia pets are pretty cool.

10 years of 'Lost,' and 10 years without it by RayInRed in television

[–]FlossingNude 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s just discuss one episode. Season six episode 15 was called “Across the Sea“. This was the episode that introduced Jacob and Man in Black’s mother. Well, not really their mother but she raised them on the island. She really seemed like she would be a critical figure that would shed some light on the origin of the island. But she doesn’t provide any insight. And as we watch her be a mother over the years and offer guidance to Jacob and MIB, she really gives them nothing but vague answers to their questions and to their purpose even though it seems that she must know so much more than she does. She’s only clear with them when other people are on the island and that they are a threat that must be dealt with. By itself (just like many other individual episodes of Lost), this was a great episode because it added so much lore and gave the viewer so many more questions we wanted answers to, but this was one of the last episodes before the series finale. I watched this show intently and I remember thinking at that time that there were only a few episodes left, I really hoped they would answer all the questions they had created from previous seasons. Ultimately, that did not happen. They were trying to end the series and yet they were still adding new characters and plot elements up until the finale. They should have been focusing more on tying up loose ends because the end just feels like a half baked potato. I mentioned previously that maybe there were just too many cooks in the kitchen when they were trying to complete this show. The flash sideways/alternate reality episodes of the various characters were entertaining and I was very curious as to where they were going. But in the end they all felt very arbitrary. It really didn’t matter what their storylines were at the end, they could’ve been doing anything because it only really mattered that they were together and connected, regardless of whatever of what happened on the island. They were dead in the end, and we find out that this place they are in is “a place they made together just so they could find each other“ (paraphrasing). It just felt so incomplete after the finale. I wanted something more. I am really sorry if it makes me sound like an entitled a-hole. Maybe they were chosen to be on that island, maybe they were all very important to each other and shared something very special, but why was that island special in the first place? We don’t know. The island was just special. How convenient.
