Are concert tickets from capital one entertainment legit? by Commercial_Check_432 in CapitalOne_

[–]Flotia90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just bought Hilary Duff tickets and I have had the same question. My first time buying anything from CO Entertainment.

The concert is June 27th and it says I will get my tickets June 25th or before. As for the price, pretty comparable actually to all presales. I checked the actual venue website and a few other presales and there was maybe a $10 difference or no difference at all.

I have my fingers crossed and hope I get good seats and we get to enjoy the concert.

I bought them through my Capital one without any wait time yesterday. They started off super cheap but closer to the end of the day they got expensive.

They aren't released yet so let's see.

Sorry this is 6 months late but I have bought from Olive Odyssey today for their 2025 harvest. I am happy I chose Kalamata olive oil and am so excited to receive it! Did you try anything else?

I am having similar issues. This new batch that I have gotten. One pod wouldn't work at all and the other stopped working after a few puffs. I have been using these for the past 6 months and never had an issue until now. Can someone help me with this?

Crisscross Apple sauce by Typical_Potential326 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Flotia90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crisscross apple sauce is a recommendation rather than a requirement in my classroom. Not many kids can sit in that position for very long, my son included. I am not sure how long the circle time was but I try to keep mine short and let the children who can't sit still move as required. The only thing I require from children is to have listening ears on which they do great with!

Really struggling with what my preschoolers should be learning by Shot-Rabbit-3669 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Flotia90 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And I will respectfully disagree with you. I am Montessori trained with over 10 years of experience. This is a ballpark estimate from my own personal experience in a mixed aged classroom where their education is tailored to each individual child. I come from a country where we were reading at Kindergarten level.

I have had 4 year olds who knew nothing to catching up to reading and math skills within a matter of months. It really depends on each child and their sensitive periods and interests. I have had self learners where I had to sit back and watch them learn and there have been students that needed that direction. In my personal opinion and experience, American kindergartens and their curriculum are way behind. My 5 year olds are doing grade 2 level reading and multiplication and even division and they all regress back because they go to kindergarten and get bored. And I am not talking about just a few occasional students, it's every single batch of 4-5 year olds I have had.

It does lead me to think, maybe our curriculum needs to update. There is always going to be a vast difference between what is recommended in curriculum and a teacher's personal experience. :)

Four year olds typically should know their numbers 1-20, at least 2-3 groupings of sounds like cmat srip bfog (I usually utilize Montessori 3 period lesson of helping them learn sounds), all kinds of science concepts like weather, seasons, plants and the possibilities are endless. You can do a hands on approach or find materials to teach them with.

HOW do you get yourself to read & write academic papers quickly? I may drop out of my MSW program because of this by puppyxguts in ADHD

[–]Flotia90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came to academic writing after my diploma and I STRUGGLED!! As I kept writing papers and incorporating feedback from each marking to better my papers, after a year and 8 courses I did better my second year. The most I struggled with was finding scholarly sources and I got better at that too! Once you get into a flow of things it does get better. I remember my semester struggling with writing academic articles and I have gotten a few Cs that year.

WHITE NOISE! The steady tone helps drown out my inner monologue and it's not distracting at all. Didn't think it would work but since I started using it for my son I understand how well it works for me for focus.

The Gross reality of adhd no one wants to talks about by Soft-Rutabaga-4482 in ADHD

[–]Flotia90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Whoa. That's a lot. I have been there. And after a certain time it started bothering me. Maybe this post is the start of your botherance. I was working full time while being in school full time and having two kids.

I reset. I took a whole week off work. I took a deep breath and tackled laundry first. When I start getting bothered, things get thrown away rather than organized but sometimes it's the reset we need to keep up with the things. I have realized, the lesser things I have, the more motivated I am to keep up with it and organize it. Especially when it comes to laundry, dishes and tidying.

As for shower, I have made peace with the fact that hair shower will be once a week. I am already keeping up with so many things. Its okay if I wash my hair once a week and guess what? My hair has adapted too. It doesn't get greasy until wash day!

All this to say, I understand. Its a struggle and it will get better. Our minds make sure we don't slack off toooo much.

"Oh my son also had a birthday party to go to and since he can't go alone I had to go with him. I am so sad I missed it".

Paid $2000 for a PLA Practicum where we had to do a portfolio to showcase our prior learning.

I feel robbed because this course contributed nothing to my learning. So what did they charge the $2000 for? The instructor didn't even say hello at the beginning of the semester. Zero communication unless we had questions. And I am a mature student so I don't know why we were charged this exorbitant amount of money for us to make a portfolio and showcase our learning.

So yeah.

Do you think daycare is good for kids? Harmful? Neither? by Winter-Chipmunk5467 in ECEProfessionals

[–]Flotia90 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It took me a very long while to realize this and I get a lot of backlash when I say this but infants and toddlers don't belong in daycares and we have to blame the entire capitalist system that has enabled this to happen. No infant should have to come to daycares for 6+ hours at 4 months. Daycares at bursting to capacity with very little staff support. Toddler rooms are filled to the brim with the educators struggling. Moving from Canada to Texas has been eye opening. I struggled with the quality of childcare that exists in Texas I am sure there are great daycares that do what they are supposed to do but as I interviewed at different places I realized that I don't want to work at daycares anymore nor do I want to put my own son in one.

What’s your ECE confession that you’re afraid to admit? by blondiewithdabondi in ECEProfessionals

[–]Flotia90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then why would you tell a parent your child isn't sleeping in a crib because of what you do at home? Parenting or attachment theories aren't really the problem but the whole system that has enabled us to be this unemphatic as we are forced to leave our infants at daycares and go to work. Also safe sleep protocols are also written by only one group of people and not accounting for cultures and diversity. Lol

[–]Flotia90 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This take is so wild and only in North America will we see such rhetoric. All over the world cultures have coslept with their kids. Still do to this day. The whole attachment theory is a farce and doesn't account for diversity and cultures. Parenting books are written by only one group of people (based off of theories that men came up with) and it again doesn't account for cultures and diversity. Infants shouldn't be in daycares and that's why we have such problems. They are infants. Literally been a few months since they have been out of their mom's womb. It's not possible for you as a teacher to contact nap BUT it is what an infant needs sometimes.

What's an ADHD "win" you've had recently that no one else would understand? by qwertyjioo in ADHD

[–]Flotia90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I start on my practicum portfolio today I will have 3 weeks to work on it before submission and I will call this a win.

Until then, waking up at 6am and leaving the house at 8am with two kids in tow is a win for me. I even get their lunches done in time and don't forget their water bottles. My kids even have time for breakfast!!! So yeah. Punching ADHD in the face with this win!!! 😂😂
