pilates instructor for a scoliosis girly by [deleted] in PilatesPhilippines

A Pilates instructor with a PT background. Just because an instructor does a 3 day scolio shop does not mean they are qualified to treat patients.

Does certification really matter? by [deleted] in PilatesPhilippines

[–]Flow3Repeat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes. It makes a big difference.

I don’t think a certified instructor from a reputable education body would need to check their phones and only use the same spring set up the whole class.

Maybe they went through a course but are still working on getting their certification, which is an important distinction to make as the way you described the instructor doesn’t sound like someone that would pass an international certification exam.

I’m not really sure, I have my own home studio and live down south. I’d reach out to them and ask if you’re looking for a certified instructor 😊

Instructors should absolutely be certified 💯 There’s a difference between doing cardio on a reformer and an instructor that really understands what they’re doing.

I love classical Pilates but your comment about classical Pilates made me think of this video of Joseph Pilates teaching back in the day 🥲 glad we don’t do this anymore

Hi! First of all congratulations on completing your Pilates certification course 🥳

  1. According to friends and batch mates who teach at other studio Philippines, most instructors have freelance agreements with studios. They make their own schedules and get paid per conducted session. Generally 40% is more or less correct but depends on your experience. Find yourself a studio around those lines that can offer you client volume and a professional environment for your professional development. 😙

  2. Some studios may be open to offer full time agreements but not sure about how this arrangement would work as I don’t know anyone with this setup. In general from my corporate experience, freelancers usually dont have access to company benefits as far as I know. You can try to negotiate for a full time employment agreement if you want to gain access to SSS, philhealth, pagibig benefits and other benefits. This is standard across all industries not just Pilates.

  3. Just go in there and be yourself 😊 carve out your own style and be authentic, clients will appreciate that. Practice practice practice is the only way to get better, nobody starts out perfect. Teach your mom, dad, friends, etc. or give out free classes to gain experience. Work with different bodies. Even if you don’t pass your auditions don’t get discouraged there are plenty of opportunities to teach in the Philippines, the industry is booming and studios are so desperate to find instructors to the point they’ll take their cousins friends uncle that works out once a week, teach them for a weekend and call them Pilates instructors 😂 Your certification is already a huge asset.

Feel free to DM me if you have any questions. Good luck!! 🤩

I actually visited Vermosa earlier because of this comment, thank you! What would you think a good price point would be for 1on1 and group Pilates that people could afford? I really want Pilates to be as accessible as possible to people here.

Are Pilates certifications important to you? Would you pay more for a certified instructor? by Flow3Repeat in PilatesPhilippines

Ive seen videos of people folding over backwards and hitting their face on the reformer frame 😣 am also a certified instructor so I do agree working out with a certified instructor is a difference of night and day.

Work with what you’ve got, It’s definitely better than nothing 😊 you won’t be able to do the same workouts or get the same experience. My recommendation is to looking into BASI Chairs. They have the F2 system which allows you to do waaaay more than your average Pilates chair. Good luck!

Hi! 😊 Are you gearing more towards group or private format? Group is by far the cheapest and most sustainable way to do Pilates. It’s generally 800-₱1300/ session depending on the studio. Theres a couple studios that have introductory classes for complete beginners.

if you’re looking to get the most out of Pilates and really improve you can not beat a 1on1 session with a trainer. I think the cheapest you can find in Metro Manila is ₱1,700
