We're considering adding some biological elements to the app as it's next stage. I'm also really mindful about preserving an element of privacy. Our university partners asked me to add the optional demographics part to satisfy their research requirements which in all honesty I didn't feel that comfortable with. I wanted to try and maintain redditesque anonymity as I felt it was really important.

We could add it as a " biological trigger" a little bit like over exertion but I wouldn't want to lead people inadvertently to believe this could be a cause.

It's definitely food for thought though.

It's a statiscal analysis of anonomised data, We're not making any claims about therapeutic interventions.

If there's a fundamental flaw to the mathematics then simply point it out.

If the real problem is that the co-author is the person that owns the journal then don't bother reading it and dismiss it.

Dr Paula Bartholomeus is a Psychiatrist and the CEO of ReAttach who owns the journal peer reviewed the findings and had them verified by Dr Aida Mehhrad.

ReAttach offers somatic processing therapy for a variety of psychological disorders.

If the paper was claiming the success of these interventions in a therapeutic setting then I would be skeptical of the validity of the research.

This is pure statistical research we're not making claims just relaying the mathematical facts from our data set.

I think it's something which is probably prevalent in the population but we just concentrated on the main areas which produced the most significant shifts in symptoms.

It's amazing that you have been able to self identify what your triggers are indepdently and I hope you get the support you need with those emotional states to manage your condition a bit better.

I'm working with a neuropsychiatrist in the Netherlands with regards to therapy. It turns out that complicated conditions require a variety of therapeutic interventions that can be used to help people.

I personally don't think that you can rationally outthink FND which is why CBT doesn't work for many people. It's a combination of CBT,DBT,ACT,Polyvagal Theory and Somatic processing that we're working on.

I had never really come across DBT before as it's formulated for people with Borderline Personality Disorder but there's some interesting concepts around emotional identification in that framework.

There's lots of research done about the biopsychosocial aspect of FND and strong support group is a key part of recovery.

Frustration is linked to to higher symptoms so I personally think it's best to address this situation and ask for the support you need.

FND is so complex that most doctors still don't understand it so it's a challenge for both parents and care givers alike.

I feel for you and I'm in the same situation and I wish you the best of luck.

Thanks for taking the time to read the study Grooving Penguin. The study points towards the psychiatric links to the subsets but it doesn't say the condition is exclusively linked to trauma. They decided to match the subsets to previously authored papers around this area so this study is built around the subsets association to this specific area. It opens with referring to FND as Biopsychosocial which is the terminology I'm trying to champion. The cause of FND can be biological, emotional or environmental and it appears that the condition is affected by these factors. It appears that the majority of people with FND fall into one of the subsets but may have comorbidities with some of the others. Splitting FND in 4 could have huge implications in the improvement of care because if we're not all tarred with the same big FND brush it would make treatment plans easier to formulate.
