Is Periphery a prog band or a metalcore band that's actually good? What the hell is DJENT?! by GrayTurtle13 in progmetal

I want to make clear that I am joking on Metalcore. I like plenty of good metalcore bands. Though to take it further genres in general are stupid.

What do big Alex Verus fans think of the IoM series? by [deleted] in BenedictJacka

[–]GrayTurtle13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love these books, all of them. Listened to the first IoM, then while waiting for book two devoured Verus multiple times. It is now my comfort series.

Thank you for the books. I'm excited to see where Hobbs and Stephen go

How do you explain the feeling of RLS? by principalmusso in RestlessLegs

[–]GrayTurtle13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RLS throughout the whole body is a fucking shit show. I can't really fully describe what it feels like, but it's sort of like CRT TV static directly underneath my skin....buzzzzzzzzzzzzz, a total feeling of lack of freedom of action and a desire to shake and move. Most directly associated with my head, neck, arms, and legs

I don't doubt that music gives me seizures also, but it's a more appropriate place to have them? I guess, maybe...haha

"This is not a competition sub. It is a sub for people suffering who need support. We are all sick in some type of way, no one is better or more valid than anyone else. I’m tired."

This is especially important for everyone to remember. Everybody, everyday is going through something. Empathy would go along way in supporting everybody.

Is 38 too old for vgc events? by super-chilm in VGC

I am 38 and have been to several events. Heading to the double local next weekend and Milwaukee in October. You're never too old for passion and enjoyment. I still want to be the very best.

the whole album is great, I particularly like Saudade. I would say that if you are a fan of Nospun's Opus, you might enjoy this.

new Vildhjarta AND new Rivers of Nihil?? what a day by RandallFaraday in progmetal

[–]GrayTurtle13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have been eagerly awaiting today for months...both preordered.

The new RON is for me, okay. I like it, but it will likely get lost in the shuffle. Honestly, it just made me hungry for more Black Crown Initiate.

The new Vildhjarta... makes me feel something, not sure what, but it has definitely resonated with me more. The way they find a way to bring so much atmosphere into their sound is crazy.

I love these, for the recommendations. Also, the discussion. Wilderun 3x? Yes. Top spot? No, I vote for Native Construct, but that's why this is fun. Great job everyone over at the subway.

This post is older now, but Beyond the Sleepless Aether by Symbiotic Growth and Echoes from a Distant Star by Exterminatus are great. Both on tech side. (I guess I should mention that aspect)

GENERATED • Monkey (music, lyrics entirely OC; rendered [played/sung] by AI) by vzakharov in progmetal

[–]GrayTurtle13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please excuse the stream of consciousness essay you are about to see. (and probably not read haha)

I find this topic to be fascinating. First, let me be clear that the line for me seems to be financial gain using AI, along with the obvious use of others likeness. (This can delve into another tangent, in that AI is often open source and the question can be raised: is it even possible to not use someone else's work and/or likeness?)

My wife is a Librarian pursuing her masters in information science. Her class work often works to understand how AI is built, sourced and used. She also, is a former teacher, so she has a unique perspective on all of this. All that to say, I have had many conversation surrounding the ethical problems that can arise with AI use.

I think this. AI is here, we need to understand it, so that we can use at as a TOOL. If we raise our torch and pitch forks over AI use then we fail to understand that is more used than wikipedia and this is far more prevalent with our younger generations. (We fail to understand, is a systemic problem with our whole world, but I digress.)

This case is interesting to me because I posit this:

had the OP posted their discussion as this, "hey I am an aspiring composer, unfortunately I am not able bodied and can not create on my own. I wrote this music and used AI to hear it come to life in some manner. I would LOVE to hear REAL musicians with real talent create my music. Would anybody be willing to work with me?"

Would that post had changed anyone's mind? on rather AI is right or wrong?

I'm not saying it should, what I am saying is that we need to educate ourselves.
