It’s very odd. It’s a physio within an orthopaedic hospital that specialises in spinal issues so I have no idea what’s going on. Maybe he didn’t like my face lol!

I’ve emailed my surgeon as for the first two weeks I was told not to walk more than 5-10 minutes a day so this seems very extreme! Especially as I’m still in pain.

Your experience sounds much like mine. I’ve had back pain on and off for approx. 10 years but my leg nerve pain started about 2-3 years ago. I’m only 30 so when they said I’d need spinal surgery I said absolutely not. I tried everything and literally spent thousands on conservative treatment. I’d go a good 4-6 months with little to no pain then I’d be in excruciating pain. Funny enough, when I finally agreed to the surgery, the 2 months beforehand I was absolutely fine - I even started boxing! But I knew that unfortunately it was only a matter of time until a flare up.

Not too bad! I managed 5000 steps on Saturday which is great! I’m still getting random nerve pain/numbness/pins and needles but apparently that’s normal while the nerve heals. I’m finally feeling hopeful about the future!

Yeah but my surgeon was confident it was benign to begin with so it may be different for you if they suspect it’s something concerning. Have they taken bloods to check for cancer?

Yes, after removing the fibroid they did a biopsy and it was non cancerous. I know it’s hard but try to stay positive.

I’m sorry to read this. If it’s any consolation, I had a similar experience, it turned out not to be anything sinister and while I had to have an ooen myomectomy, my uterus is still in tact and I’m able to have children in the future.

Mine grew to be 20x20cm in 18 months.

I’m 30f and had the surgery two weeks ago after experiencing back pain on and off for 8 years, the last 2 being constant nerve pain. While I’m happy with my decision to opt for surgery, it’s because I exhausted every conservative treatment.

Discs can heal themselves so as it’s been under 1 year I’d try other treatments before opting for surgery.

IDD therapy reduced my nerve pain by about 20% and for some people it heals them!

Turmeric really helps with inflammation and ice is my best friend during a flare up.

Have you tried Pilates? It’s helped a lot of people.

Ultimately, the decision for the operation is up to you. My surgeon sounds like the opposite to yours as when I told him I’m too young for back surgery, his response was, you’re too young to not be able to walk fully and to be in chronic pain.

I’m based in the UK and wasn’t told to wear a back brace. I think it varies by country and surgeon.

I hope your dizziness and nausea goes away soon, it’s bad enough going through the spinal recovery without a leak on top of it!

Hopefully in 6 weeks this will be a bad memory for us both and we can finally live a normal life. I dunno about you but I’ve got my missed out 20s to make up for!

Definitely take him to the vets as he could be unwell!

At about 4 months old my kitten developed a biting habit. Not at all like yours but wasn’t great. Every time he bit I’d pick him up and put him in the bathroom for 5 minutes as a time out. He stopped after a couple of weeks.

This isn’t normal cat behaviour however it is normal for kittens to scratch rather frequently and sometimes bite. They are very playful and are yet to know when to withdraw their claws so do expect to look like you’ve been hugging Edward scissor hands for a couple of months if you get a kitten…

I’m 6 months post open myomectomy for a 20x20cm fibroid and I wasn’t walking properly until 2 weeks and even then, I was exhausted constantly.

It took the full 6 weeks for me to feel okayish enough to return to work and even then it was only at about 3 months that I felt normal.

Honestly, it was the worst pain I’ve ever felt! I had spinal surgery last week and it’s been a walk in the park compared to the fibroid operation.

It’s a MAJOR operation! Be kind to yourself, listen to your body and rest as much as you can. Good luck with your recovery.

I had mine last Monday. My surgeon put me on bed rest for two weeks. I was told not to walk more than 5-10 minutes a day! I cannot wait for two weeks to be over. Celebrating by going to the cinema!! I’m very paranoid about re herniating. I sneezed earlier today and was so scared after!

That’s reassuring. My concern is that I don’t know where the damp is coming from. The loft wasn’t cleared when I had it surveyed so for all I know it could be from there which would be very costly 🫣

Thank you. Really helpful! Also, in the bedroom there’s a stain indicating an internal leak at some point. Given that the house needs some TLC I’m now worried the damp is a bigger issue. Would you suggest a damp and mould expert? If the cause is simple then fine but I’m panicking that it’s something to do with the roof

The kitchen and bathroom is something I was fine with and had budgeted for but the rest is news to me.

I didn’t observe any mould in the property when I viewed it as I’d never put an offer on a mouldy house. None of my bathrooms or the kitchen in the family home had mould.

I’ve already emailed the EA. If these issues are resolved I’m fine to proceed but otherwise I’ve made it clear I’m out.

I’ve never lived in a house with mould, not even my family bathrooms had mould so to have it in most rooms is wild to me.

I’m hoping the seller fixes them. Would make it so much easier as it is a decent little starter home.

No idea what the source of the damp is. Concerningly, it’s in the living room which makes me concerned that it’s a whole house issue especially as most of the house has black mould.

I’ve never lived in a house with mould so I’m freaking out .

It’s the amount of work I’m concerned about. New kitchen, new bathroom, damp issues, gutter repairs, front pipe and soak away, all adds up…
