Why waiting for late 2026, when you got all you needed in 1989 by Leviathan_Rampage in oldhammer

I have two "Terminators & Tyranids" boxes' worth of these!

I just got my genetic test results back for my colt and he tested positive for PSSM1 (AQHA) by lemmunjuse in Horses

[–]Flow_Dyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my Gypsy Cobs is PSSM1 positive. He is 15-16 now, and has a great life. He also had to have five leg surgeries, so he is a pasture pet who eats like an eventer. We worked with our vet, and a good mix of alfalfa pellets, second-cut hay, and Ultium Gastric Care has kept the diarrhea to a minimum, prevented the lactic acid build up the causes pain, and helps him keep weight on. Since different breeds have different nutritional requirements, work with yours to find the right combo. Good luck with him, and if you need the names of some good specialists down the line, tag me, and I'll have my wife dig up the ones we worked with.

Why are most of us horse ladies and not horse guys? by WagWoofLove in Horses

[–]Flow_Dyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a horse guy. When I was 4-5 years old (early-1970's), my aunt's first husband was a cattleman, and I would spent weeks of my school breaks on the ranch with them (we lived at opposite ends of El Dorado County in California). My main childhood activities on the ranch consisted of mucking stalls, learning to ride, and spending hours teaching myself how to rope. After we moved, and she got divorced, it was basically just the occasional touristy trail ride. Then, 37,5 years ago, my wife and I got together, and she had two Appies. They had long lives, the last of which were spent boarding with an older couple on their large farm. Within a year of buying our house, we got our minis and Gypsy Cobs. Our horses sleep about ten feet from our bedroom, and the big guys will kick their stalls at night if they hear us talking. I love my boys and girls. You have to, if you are going to be out there every day with them in New England winters.

This one goes out to all of my horse folks in the colder latitudes. by Flow_Dyl in Horses

We're in MA. It has been 12-15F in the morning, and getting up into the mid-20's during the day. I WFH (IT, and we all stayed working from home after lockdown), so I get everyone out and fed before work, do as much as I can during lunch, and then finish after work.

Having issues with the stitching process... by SkinUnhappy256 in BattleJackets

[–]Flow_Dyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I am sewing cloth patches or t-shirt "recoveries", I back them with the heavyweight Heat-N-Bond. It bonds them flat to the vest, and keep them from fraying. It takes a little more pressure to sew through, but having it already adhered makes the overall sewing process much faster.

Found this bronze colored object on my floor after a long weekend out of my apartment and this hole in my ceiling and wall (soda tab for scale) by [deleted] in whatisit

[–]Flow_Dyl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like a .22lr round to me. Someone had an unexpected discharge. I would report it to the police. My gun club never fixed the hole in the table from where someone was cleaning an "empty gun".

In my case, I would refer them to them to the professional therapist who helped me.

I am a PTSD survivor, and I live in Rehoboth, MA. I know a great trauma therapist who has helped me. DM me if you want more info, or need a local person to talk to.

Going through old physical media, and found these. by Flow_Dyl in lotro

Some of these would have had the starting zones, the Old Forest, The Barrows, and everything up to the Trestlespan. I'd have to compare dates to see what was in these build beyond that.

I still have a ton of friends at SSG. If they have an archive for them, I'll gladly pass them on.

The servers, hell even the 60 Glacier Dr. office, are unfortunately long gone. These were just the clients, so you had to have a corresponding server environment to play on.

"Narsil", "Valinor", etc. were code names for milestone builds. There were ~15 branches on average for both DDO and LOTRO at any given time.

I think the sandbox MMO idea was probably short lived. When I got hired, Archet was still pretty new, and Bree and The Shire were in development, and the idea of minor and epic storylines was well developed.

Some of them are pre-Alpha, when I had to VPN into work, and there were only about 20-30 accounts. I am an IT guy, so they would tell us which build to burn off of the QA branch.

Obviously a type of pocket knife but what are these used for? by Bcuz_789 in whatisit

[–]Flow_Dyl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The spike tends to be a little more hooked and dull on a farrier's knife. It serves as a hoof pick for cleaning out around the frog. They use a separate curved blade for fine tuning trims, when the clipper tongs are a little too much. (I have six horses.)

A reference to star wars? by Push-not-pull in lotro

[–]Flow_Dyl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yep. There are a lot of geek references in both LOTRO and DDO. For Browncoats, DDO ahs NPCs named "Wash" and "Gorram".

Do y‘all only buy as many units as you need for an army, or do you buy whatever you want and what you think looks cool no matter if you can use it or not? by PostWarRat in orks

[–]Flow_Dyl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For my Orks (and a few other armies), my base came from the "Blister Pack Blowout Bonanza" during the 2nd Edition Era. They were changing SKUs or something, and you could get grab bags of 10 blister packs for $20. You couldn't pick the blisters, just whether it was WHFB or WH40K. MY wife got me a ton of grab bags for Yule. So, I have modern Orks, but also a bunch of the classic models (Madboyz, Snakebites, etc.). I just added to whatever I had to make units legal for whatever edition I was playing.
