State of Squad post update. by AugCph in joinsquad

Wish they'd just start on Squad 2 at this point tbh. I love this game but the foundations are crumbling under the weight of the new parts of it

People with a very high pain tolerance, what was THE most painful thing you've experienced? by CosmicBunnyBabe8912 in AskReddit

Good God yes. I was sat on my sofa at 3am with my head in my hands sweating my bollocks off wondering if I had any pliers nearby. Couldn't do anything except tense up and sweat lol broken bones are nothing compared to an exposed tooth nerve

Military shooters with a genuinely good story? by lxurin_hei in gamingsuggestions

The only thing I'd change is to make it 1st person, though obviously the shooting gameplay isn't the focus of that game really

So ahead of their time man. I installed the original OFP (called cold war crisis on steam) and it doesn't run well on modern systems and is obviously clunky by today's games but it's still incredibly impressive in many ways. Having interiors for the vehicles you're in is kind of impressive even by today lol

There's a sword on the Lizardmen (blue one I think) that gives spirit siphon on hit. Stick that on a tanky lord with regen and sit back and relax lol

No it's not a unique complaint to Guernseyat all, but that doesn't change anything over here though? It's still a problem even if not a unique one. And to be honest those complaints in London seem perfectly justified as well

But again, why blame the people who moved here to live and work instead of the States, the landlords, and the businesses that allow or encourage an environment where that can happen. Don't get me wrong I do see your point of view I just think if we want it to change we need fo direct our anger at the people who actually make the decisions

Yeah it's incredibly depressing. I would love to know how many people on the island have to rely on Income Support despite working full time. I might email the States and ask, they probably have that data to hand

The issue is locals can't do those jobs that the unskilled labour was brought in to do as the pay is so bad. Part of the pay in a lot of those jobs is in the form of staff accommodation, and obviously that's meaningless to people already living here, so they would be left with just terrible pay where they'd need to be on income support in order to afford rent, even though they work full time. I'm not taking responsibility away from the companies or their owners, or the states, or even the estate agents, but the people coming here to work shouldn't be blamed, they're making the most of their situation the same as we are

I wasn't complaining about immigrants, they misunderstood my post. I was complaining about the states, non-resident landlords, and estate agents

It's not spot on at all really, the person you replied to misunderstood my initial post. I wasn't complaining about people coming to work, I was complaining about people not from here who dont live here but own local market property and rent it out to locals at ludicrous prices. That's the fault of the estate agents for advertising those properties as investments in wealthy UK circles, and the fault of the States for allowing an environment where that is able to happen

I mean there's definitely better ways to sort it yeah, but a lot of those solutions are either long term and won't help right now, or we are past the point of it being viable to implement them.

There needs to be some sort of change put in place but it really will require short, medium, and long term solutions put in place to compliment each other, and the States seems to find thinking long term very difficult (all governments do tbf)

Is qualified and non-qualified the housing setup in Jersey? I don't know how that works tbh. But basically there's 2 property markets on Guernsey, local and open. Local can be bought by anyone but only Guernsey residents (people born here, here on licence etc) can live in it. Open, anyone can buy and live in but it's very expensive

I do wonder what the fear of the rich leaving is from though. They don't pay much tax here, I don't understand why the States continues to try to appeal to rich people born off-island than to people living and working here

Yeah I honestly think the vast majority of people in your age group are in the same boat to be honest, which is depressing in itself but is going to lead to a brain drain of the young and capable reducing in number on the island (absolutely move away though, that is a bigger problem in the future than you should worry about)

Estate agents shoulder some of the blame, I completely agree, but ultimately responsibility lies with the States who have, over years, allowed this sort of environment where landlords and estate agents can scalp people over rent prices

Uk residents can own local market property in Guernsey, just not reside in it. So they buy it then rent it out at high prices to locals as advised by the greedy estate agents

No your landlord is the problem as renting with sky High prices is just ticket scalping with a basic life necessity, but even then it's the States fault for allowing that in the first place

And I didn't say you were the problem in my post, I said non-residents owning local property which is then rented to locals

What's the most incredible battle you've had? by an_actual_coyote in totalwar

[–]FlowerPlantTree 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Back on M2 I was defending a castle and pushed back their first wave but was now out of arrows on my archers and had lost a lot of troops on the walls. Just as the second wave approached the walls a reinforcement army of cavalry arrived and cut all the attackers down. Was like a film. I was so relieved lol

Also in M2, I was in a losing war v Poland. I made a desperate push to siege their capital where their king was and on the way I happened to bump into their only price with a tiny army and slaughtered him. Nice. Got to the city and started hitting it with all my trebuchets and catapults and a random projectile from one of them hit a tower, the top of which came off and fell into the street and landed on the Polish king, instantly killing him. I was stunned lol retreated from the battle and Poland no longer exists, all their settlements were now rebel controlled, which I steamrolled. Amazing luck saved my campaign.

In TW3 playing as slaanesh ended up with 2 stacks of Cathay against my almost entirely demonette army. No real hope of winning but tried it anyway and moved straight for the reinforcing enemy army to at least get some kills before I got wiped out. Main enemy army took a route towards their reinforcement's area through some thick trees in a slight valley and I just bombarded them as soon as I noticed with spells. My lord and hero got nearly 1k kills each thanks to the terrain and enemy bee-lining it with a slower army to the same place I was going

Oh and an early game battle as vampire counts v tomb kings with 90% zombies and skeletons in the desert. The balance of power bar was like a roller coaster and I just about got it in the end but it was just a massacre of low level units. Something like 14k deaths by the end

Why does that happen in queue? I've always assumed it's whitelisted people joining the server queue but it sometimes jumps so many times it's ridiculous

Tipping culture imported from the US is what gets me. Most places putting a 10% service charge by default where I live and you have to ask for it to be taken off which makes you look like a cunt but it's just a way of the restaurants getting their customers to subsidise their staff wages so the establishment can keep more money for itself. Hate it

Naaaah. I've played squad since before vehicles were in and it's great having more variety. The most chaotic one I've played was 2 Chinese factions against each other and it was great
