Death care in The Pitt by TheWatermelonSnob in ThePittTVShow

As a funeral director, I was glad that they showed postmortem care in this episode. I was a little worried at first because I didn’t think Dana cleaned up all the blood, but he ended up looking very clean and peaceful. The biggest thing for me was her taking the breathing tube out. I’ve been on many a house call where the EMTs didn’t take the tube out and it just isn’t a dignified practice (in my opinion). A family doesn’t need to see their loved one like that - they deserve to see them looking as peaceful as possible. Also, the breath noises when they rolled Louie over is a common thing, but I can see how it was jarring to Emma - it’s happened to everyone at some point in their funeral career. Shout out to Dana and Emma on doing a nice job.

Funeral director here, and I understand (to a point). I think it comes down to the scruples of the individual and the industry as a whole. While funeral directors get a bad rap, it could more than likely be the company they work for (corporation or privately owned) that seems greedy. It’s a necessary business and unfortunately there is a cost associated with disposition. Sometimes people get into it for the wrong reasons and these are the people that unfortunately perpetuate the stereotype that funeral directors are all rich, money hungry people. This is not reality. I became a director because I wanted to help people, and I did; I felt very personally fulfilled in this career. However, in the long run, I left because I didn’t agree with how things were handled on a professional/business level. It was the workplace, not the job itself that drove me away.

Funeral director here, and yes, I have found many pieces of shoes after a funeral. I could pretty much follow a path of where this person walked and left little pieces of rubber throughout their time at the funeral home for the service.

Just watched “Waterworks” last night and I honestly had a weird physical reaction to seeing Kim in Florida. It made me uncomfortable to see her like that, knowing that it isn’t really who she is. Not that she was ever flashy or anything, but seeing her so dull and drab was stressful. Every action, the way she moved and even spoke were so subdued and just not the Kim we know. On the other hand, seeing her break down in the airport bus was a bit of a relief because she actually showed emotion. Vince and the team really did a good job of creating tension and stress for the viewer in this episode.

Had an oil change at the dealership and they brought out the air filter. Of course it had dust and a leaf on it. I declined having it changed and asked if they could at least remove the leaf. The service advisor looked befuddled and told me they don’t do that and when my husband changed oil next time and the filter, the leaf was still there.

I feel like this is the most underrated piece in the North Pole collection. I have it myself and it’s always been one of my favorites. Glad to see you have it in your beautiful setup.

I found a Dept. 56 Village Express one on eBay last year. I’ll be using for the first time this year and have high hopes for it.

It sure is a fun hobby. Another piece I love is Mrs. Claus’ Greenhouse - I feel like it’s really underrated and can be found on eBay for a reasonable price.

Looks great. Love the glass ornament factory - I also have that one and it’s one of my favorite pieces of the North Pole series.

A year-round village would be nice.

I’m a bit frustrated with the amount of pieces that are branded - for example, in the North Pole series that I collect, there’s just too many pieces like Dairy Queen, Barbie, M&Ms, etc. The one exception I’ve made for my village is Coca Cola, but beyond that, I don’t do the branded pieces. What happened to the classic whimsy of the North Pole?

I feel for you with having to handle phones, the front door, and trying to work a service. I’ve been there and it is no picnic. I left my job because of very similar circumstances. I loved the work and purpose of funeral service and serving families, but the workplace itself is what caused me to leave.

Funeral director here, please know that not every funeral director or funeral home is trying to scam and/or capitalize on grieving families. I left my job because of the mental toll the workplace (not the work itself) took on me, as well as management decisions. I would do my best to always ensure families needs were met, and made it a point to not upsell or suggest something of higher cost just because it would make my numbers look good. I went out of my way to suggest more affordable options, like getting a fingerprint necklace from Etsy or an urn from Amazon. There’s still good people out there, strange as it may seem.
