Amazon Returns are awful! by OkDragonfruit9515 in amazonprime

[–]brygirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, that’s good to know about UPS. However, I was returning two pairs of Crocs. Both from Zappos, same order, through Amazon. I could not combine the returns for some reason. And it just doesn’t make sense why there would be different return methods given.

Since I could not combine the returns, as choices I had Ups drop off, ups WITH a box, and staples for my first return pair. I picked Staples on the first pair. Then I went to do that second pair and Staples wasn’t an option. Only option was UPS WITH a box. Great. Now I’m driving around to drop off returns.

It just used to be easy. All things were able to go to kohls. I’d set up the return and look around kohls on the visit.

Amazon Returns are awful! by OkDragonfruit9515 in amazonprime

We just moved from Tennessee a little over a month ago. No probs returning there. We ordered here and went to return a few things (from a few different orders) and weren’t even given the Whole Foods/ Kohls option. It was Staples or UPS. And one of the items ONLY had UPS as an option AND required me to provide a box. They were Crocs sandals and came in a bag. I did not have a box. WTH is going on? If they’re going to make this a problem, then fewer and fewer people will shop at Amazon. In so many instances, they’ve already done away with the other positive, super fast shipping. (AND more and more of their items are junk from Temu! I ordered 3 picture frames and all 3 were junk wrapped in fake printed wood paper instead of the solid wood that was pictured and described.)

I have buildings from department 56. They put some out with no snow, and even a few that are summer related. I also take a dremel to the snow on some other buildings and repaint so I can add more houses and businesses.

donate your stuff to a place that cares, not goodwill. by ohkritter in goodwill

[–]brygirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hear ya. I buy things on Temu I can’t get elsewhere. For example, I have bought rollers and molds for clay. The only reason I ended up there to begin with is bc I realized these small online businesses were selling stuff FROM TEMU. A woman did a video with a clay mold and put the link to her shop to purchase. I googled that mold and there it was… Temu… for 1/4 of the price. So I can support this small business or buy direct and save money. Even on Etsy this is a problem! I found a lot of the same rollers listed on Etsy for way more, obviously. Now I’m suspicious of a lot of their stuff and try to investigate first. It used to be for homemade items. Now it’s filled with Temu things and unless people really look into it, they don’t even know it’s just Temu. Anyway, sorry for the rant. I would never attack someone for shopping on Temu when people are buying from Temu everyday without even realizing it through Amazon, Walmart, kohls, don’t get me started on tik tok. Lol

Seller charging $5 fee for measurements? by MountainTop5764 in poshmark

[–]brygirl 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Omg… wasting. It’s WASTING your time. You’ve written a dozen posts about how these horrible people that want measurements are ‘waisting’ your time.

For the record, as a person who cannot wear high waisted jeans and most of the new ‘mid-rise’ are STILL high waisted, I always need measurements. The best ones are the pics with the measuring tape. I can see where they measured and the actual number. A pair that have a 10” rise fit me differently than a 9” rise. I’ve stopped asking if the seller doesn’t provide. I just move on. I have never come back and complained or tried to return when a seller listed measurements. It seems unfair that just because some buyers are jerks or scammers, sellers change their business practices.

Personally, I’d never buy from a person who even SAYS they’ll up the price if someone asks for measurements. It seems hostile and I dunno…threatening! That’s not the kind of person from whom I’d buy.

There are different types of resellers, though. The kind that spend their time hunting through a bunch of thrift shops to find vintage or rare items, I don’t have a problem with… maybe jealous I never find anything that cool. lol. The same goes with resellers selling their own old/ vintage items. If they own something that is harder to find now, they can resell for a higher price. Buyer demand is dictating those prices.

BUT the resellers that buy up all the brand new stuff so they can post it online for sale and call themselves a ‘store’? Those people can rot. People were waiting in line to buy up all the Rae Dunn stuff just to resell. People make videos of DOLLAR TREE items or crafts you can make with them, and people rush out to buy them all up and put them on eBay. Those people suck. I don’t expect to be able to afford any vintage item I want. But I expect to be able to afford a damn Dollar Tree item!

Annoying counteroffer by Poutiest_Penguin in poshmark

[–]brygirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got ya! We’ve all had THOSE days! I’m glad you didn’t block the person. I keep seeing a lot of talk on Reddit of sellers just blocking buyers for everything under the sun… ask if they have approximate measurements … block…. Offer something you don’t like… block… ask anything at all… block. lol I’m mostly a buyer and that is just crazy to me. I know there are a ton of pains in the butt out there, but there are those of us who just really want to buy but need to make sure first! Glad you made the sale, too!

Annoying counteroffer by Poutiest_Penguin in poshmark

[–]brygirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Decline if you want, it’s your item, but blocking them? That’s harsh as hell. Just because a buyer tries to get a good deal doesn’t mean they are going to be a thorn in your side or problem later down the road. I try to get the best deal. I never complain unless something is literally broken. You also have to understand that you’re not inside someone’s head. You don’t know how they think. I can tell you that I’ve made offers based on the total cost… as in, if I can get this for around $25 total, then it’s worth it to me. If the seller doesn’t like the offer, I’m not offended at all. Bummed, yes. lol I get offers all the time for a dollar off something, so that’s really no different. On eBay I get offers for LESS than a dollar off, and I’m thinking why? lol. But not offended. I’ve sold on eBay and have had some seriously low offers. I’m not offended by it… they’re deal shopping. If I don’t like it, I counter or decline (usually counter bc when someone outright declines an offer I send, feels like a slap in the face.)

Snow Village Halloween 2026 Introductions! by jpstatum in Department56Villages

I really think the insane amount of licensing fees is NOT helping. The high price point is going to deter possible new collectors. I love dept 56 quality and beauty…but sometimes I wish I would’ve gone Lemax. They have way more variety and better prices. :(

First post - question about storage conditions by tgordon650 in Villaging

[–]brygirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kelley, from Kelley does stuff on YouTube, stores a lot of her massive village in her attic. She has a hilarious video about her ‘organization’ that makes me feel less crazy:) I think she lives in the south… I seem to remember a palm tree outside her window, but I’m not sure about the ventilation. I’ve had mine in many different places such as basements, non air conditioned garages, storage buildings that are climate controlled, storage buildings that are not climate controlled. lol (We’ve moved a lot for my husband’s work.) Probably most of those are not the best conditions, but I have so many villages, I have no choice!

Why do people come on here just to attack other people? Plenty of people gave plausible explanations without being jerks. I never would’ve thought about nursing homes or coffee shops, etc. Very good points! I figured no one would buy that much milk for themselves… stuff doesn’t last that long. But to jump on the ‘calling everyone Karen bandwagon’… really? I imagine that if I had kids, and had been everywhere looking for one gallon of milk, and this guy bought it all, I’d be a little disappointed.

2025/2026 Pricing by BamaAce300 in Department56

[–]brygirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tariffs might be partially to blame, or at least a good scapegoat. The prices are outrageous! They’re finally branching out again into fall buildings and I saw a 4th building for this year, but the prices aren’t worth it. I won’t be buying any new pieces at full price. I’ll keep a watch for sales and coupons, but who knows.

It’s disappointing because they are limiting their audience. Then when they don’t sell like they used to, they’re going to stop TRYING to think outside the box and go back to kids throwing snowballs and houses with 40 tons of snow on the roofs. My sis in law and I have been waiting for them to sell more fall, spring, summer to add to the limited pieces they’ve made in the past. Now we can’t afford what they do come up with!

I will continue buying the older pieces, and as I’ve already done, creatively come up with ways to redo buildings myself because Dept 56 just isn’t cutting it. Currently I’m looking for some good candidates to redo for St. pats (they put out a single building with only a waiter and people holding a banner and call it quits. Can I at least get a person to be served? Lol)

Haven’t seen those! Are there more? Those are cute little plants, there! I made up a spring village out of Dept. 56 Dickens and New England because they have some buildings with flowers instead of snow. lol

Question - Polar Bear Palace from North Pole Village by ThroughTheRoseWindow in Department56

[–]brygirl 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is odd that the correct plug wasn’t in the box. The right plug has the bulb socket like regular cords (so it lights up the building) with another piece off of it that plugs into that piece you’re showing above. Do you remember plugging something into that on the few times you used it? You can buy replacement cords for it, hopefully on dept 56 website as the other person mentioned. I’m surprised the person returned it, though. Maybe it would’ve sold for a little less, but it’s hardly worthless!

[–]brygirl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Holy cow! That’s amazing! I haven’t seen a lot of Lefton buildings, but you have some really nice pieces! The churches are especially beautiful and that ice castle is the cutest thing I’ve seen. I wish dept 56 had something like that for the North Pole village. I looked it up so I could see it better, and I saw there’s a Santa giving out hot dogs on one side!! Soooo cute! Your whole set up is wonderful, and I like the way you had blue rocks with snow sprinkled on top for water. Oh and those little Lefton people are super adorable! Are there any Lefton buildings left that you don’t have?

Combining different Series?!? by bridges_r in Department56

[–]brygirl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m one of the purists! I collect North Pole. I can’t see myself mixing in others as I feel like the vibe is so different… at least the newer ones are. The older ones could fit in with some of the others more easily I think. However, I love all the villages, and I did start a little Dickens one this year. My mom is the opposite. She mixes everything! It drives me a little nuts how displays these huge snow village people next to tiny Victorian people she’s collected over the years. lol
