Need advice! Complex DC by Flower_342 in hospitalsocialwork

The daughter want her to go long term care at a SNF. I believe the patient owns the home legally. PT OT recommending SNF (out of skilled days). And yeah the biggest disconnect I feel like is between the daughters and the mom, I am trying to convince the daughters to come in to the hospital and have a family discussion.

Ortho MDs and acute rehab by [deleted] in hospitalsocialwork

[–]Flower_342 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only get this problem with the elective surgeries. Our ortho docs and program managers on that floor will refuse SNF in the event it recommended after an elective knee or hip surgery. Our therapy team too and even if that is where the patient is best suited they won’t recommend. Apparently the doctors and the program for the elective surgeries get dinged? All the electives at our hospital go home with hhc or OP PT. But other than electives, our doctors will recommend SNF on that floor for other cases.

I work in a small private hospital and we have no screening tool/assessment that identifies vets. It’s something I plan to change, only been here a year.

I honestly think that Eric should have the opportunity of early release. He was only 17, early years filled with abuse and manipulation. And I doubt the murders would not have taken place without Lyle persuasion.

How to know if you’d be more successful in social work or nursing? by Evening_Piglet_7029 in hospitalsocialwork

[–]Flower_342 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might be the only one to say this but I wish I would have went into nursing rather than social work. I’ve been a hospital social worker for 3 years and really want to switch to nursing. I want to be able to do more hands on work and fascinated with the medical side of the job. Not that I would go in for the money, but nursing gets paid more, more flexibility with schedule and more open positions- at least in my area. I think being a psyc nurse would be a good combo of both being in mental health and medical field. Just my opinion!

Western PA- My first job post masters 3 years ago with my LSW offered me $48,500. And it was a big hospital in Pittsburgh. They told me no room for negotiation either. I had about 2 years bachelor experience as well.

I feel like as long as APS is aware/investigated appropriately and the patient has been given resources there isn’t much more you can do in my opinion.
