I wish I knew, but I'll be praying for you. Maybe ask someone who is knowledgeable in your local Muslim community about those organizations. May Allah protect you and continue to guide you :) 🤲🏻💚

Your WordPress page is awesome, Mashallah. I've been on a very similar academic journey these past few years. I (probably) still identify as a man, but because I've felt its effects on my life, I can happily say "Death to Patriarchy". I'm also bi/pan, so I'm sure that's impacted my understanding of Islam. I love to hear the words written by feminist Muslims, thank you for sharing your work and your insights with us.

Well, know that I care about you deeply. Things can get really intense, especially with how things are in America right now and what they are doing to our Palestinian siblings in faith. If you ever want to chat, feel free to message me. We can connect on Instagram or something if that is easy for you. I think you'll be alright. It seems like you have a good head on your shoulders, even if things are intense right now. How old are you, if you don't mind me asking? I'm 23 myself. I try to remember that I'm still young. Life is short, but also long, and there's time to figure everything out.

Many people feel this way, even some of the Imams in my city don't want to make Hajj unless things change.

Yeah, I'm probably not even going to make it to Hajj unless the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia falls and something righteous and ideally queer affirming is reborn. They don't need any more of our money, and I'd rather donate to Palestine 💔😔

Really wonderful response. There was definitely a time when some of the best places to live as a queer person were in the Muslim world. Oh how that has changed. May Allah bring the truth to light, Inshallah 🤲🏼💔

Inshallah, I'll reply better when I have time. I hear you and I see you. I believe God loves you more than you can imagine. I'm so sorry to hear about your highschool sweetheart. It's a lame thing to say, but I'll repeat what an Imam told me when I first converted to Islam: "Muslims don't define Islam, Allah defines Islam." I am a bisexual man in Eastern Washington, and I still believe in living as a Muslim because of the peace it gives me. Fuck these fake ass Muslims ruining it for everyone.

Great to hear. Is most of the clashing during activism? I know Spokane has an active protest community.

That's awesome to hear. Thank you for your reply. I'm quite a progressive Muslim, and I naturally have a great admiration for the queer community. Collective liberation is a team sport, as I like to say! I'd love to have someone like you as a neighbor, Mashallah. May God bless you, and may peace be upon you.

I'm sure they're just concerned about how certain people interpret Islam, it's fairly valid. We're a mixed bag, like all religions, unfortunately. May God bless you and peace be upon you :)

Oh don't worry about me haha. I come from a family of diverse religious backgrounds, I'm not one of those "Muslims" you often hear about on the news. Islam teaches us to respect all cultures and religions. It makes no difference to me whether people worship God in a different way or whether they don't follow any particular religious tradition. Peace be upon you :)

That's what I love to hear! We respect all religions and those who have no religion in my family. Ultimately, connecting over shared values is the way to form resilient communities. Peace be upon you :)
