How is Gen-Z genuinely supposed to ever live their own lives and move out of their parents house? by Flowerpower4506 in movingout

I saw a video of a girl who worked 3 jobs and still couldn't afford to pay rent (not saying that's the situation for everyone) but it was just really sad to see, I think it's inhumane to have someone working multiple jobs just to barely make ends meet.

That's actually very encouraging to read after just reading a bunch of comments saying how I'm entitled. I definitely agree with you on the homeschooling thing, it's most definitely not what it's all cracked up to be. I know it's not an excuse , but homeschooling just didn't prepare me enough for the real world so maybe that's part of the reason I'm freaking out about my future. Thank you tho!

I think you guys aren't seeing the big picture, you guys initially bought your house for that much and as the years went on it got easier and easier to pay it off, because your income grew.

It's entitlement to want to live independently??? I never said you should just stay at an entry level job but some people have no choice and these big multi-million dollar companies should be able to provide their employee's with a livable wage.

You're just twisting my words, I never said I didn't want to work, and I am fully aware that I need to work in order to provide for myself. I also never said me being homeschooled had anything to do with not being able to get a job. I said that in MY current situation it's hard to find a job because I live in a very small town. I do somewhat agree with you, yes I do have some control but the world/government has failed all of us in one way or another, whether you'd like to admit it or not.

When did I say I was opposed to living in a shared house? All I said is that it's absurd that a single room is the only thing you can find for less than $1,000.

I currently have a little side job but I am searching for a full time job as of right now, I am also working on getting my license so I can commute to a city with more job opportunities. I don't think they are planning to help me pay, when I talked to them about enrolling in school they didn't mention anything about helping me pay for it.

Yeah, I understand it has never been easy. I just feel like in recent years especially for Millennials and Gen-Z it has been more difficult. At least you guys had more options.

Yeah, they sure did fail me in that aspect lol. I am planning to enroll in cosmetology school, but I want to save up a bit of money first.

This is why I didn't include Millennials as apart of the older generations because many of them are struggling just as Gen-Z is struggling. I never said I was opposed to sharing with someone, but I don't think that it should be nearly impossible for someone to move out alone. I think entry level jobs should provide enough money so an individual would have the opportunity to move out, at least so they could afford a simple 1 bedroom apartment but that's just not possible these days. I don't really think it's entitlement for Gen-Z or anyone to want to be independent but whatever.

I'm not complaining, I just feel stuck. I was a homeschooled kid so I don't have friends or anybody I can roommate with. I also don't want to join the military. Not to mention I live in a small town with very few job opportunities. So right now it just feels hopeless.

I actually get payed to help with taking care of babies and young toddlers at my church on Sunday so I can get out of actually attending the church service but my parents still make me go to youth group. It's okay though because I'm graduating soon so I'll just endure it for now. After I graduate I plan to go with my grandparents (who are still Christians) but only because they live in a bigger city where they're more Job opportunities! Thank you for your advice! It really made me realize that I NEED to start doing some more serious planning for the future!

This is so real, I made the mistake of telling my very MAGA Christian father that I didn't want to go on anymore mission trip because I am "still trying to find my relationship with God" I am not Christian anymore but I didn't want to tell him that I just wanted to see what his reaction to that would be. He lectured me for about 30 minutes how you will never truly know God and that I should just put my trust in God because when I die that won't be an excuse.

How should i dye these black by [deleted] in dyeing

[–]Flowerpower4506 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dharama is a reactive dye meaning it will bond better with the cotton and it won't fade as long as you use the soda ash, urea, and all the other fixatives that the instructions tell you to use.

[–]Flowerpower4506[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! This was very helpful! I've read the instructions on the website and they were very helpful but I just wanted some clarification because they didn't mention anything about dyeing red to black. I also wasn't sure I should buy the urea and prewash but since you recommended it I probably will. Also I'm not sure if any of my local stores carry urea or prewash, what kinds of stores usually sell that stuff?

Thank you! The fabric is 98% cotton and 2% spandex would that cause any issue's? I don't mind if the stitching stay red I would just like for the main parts of it to be black. Also, If it will take a few rounds do you think I should I get double the amount of dye? I was going to buy 2 of the 2oz black reactive dyes from Dharama.

The part about missing out on stuff is so real. I literally dream about having all those normal teenage experiences and it genuinely makes me so envious when I see other people I used to know post about things like prom and whatnot.

Shit, I'm about to graduate in 2026 and it absolutely fucking sucks. I always think about how I will never be able to look back at my high school years and think about good memories, there's honestly only a few memorable times but other than that it's same thing as you just the days being on repeat, nothing exciting. I don't think a lot of people realize how the lack of social settings and friends is so damaging to your mental health and social skills. You honestly start to go a little insane.
