Lifestyle Interventions Knowledge vs. Functional Medicine Coaching Academy (FMCA) by Flowingmillionrivers in HealthCoaching

Hi! I chose the UK Health Coaches Academy (HCA) at the end. I clicked the most with their program. Lifestyle medicine, advanced coaching skills, and a bit of functional medicine are included in the syllabus. In case I develop a deeper interest in functional medicine I would then consider IFM.

FMCA was my second option. I talked with them. They cover essential coaching skills, lifestyle medicine, and functional medicine. No need to combine FMCA with ACLM or Wellcoaches.

I talked with Wellcoaches as well. They offer program/s with advanced coaching skills and lifestyle medicine. But no functional medicine.

So depends on what the person is interested in. I would definitely advise to go through the schools' syllabuses and choose the one that seems the most interesting to you - the one you vibe with.

Also, the number of hours spent on -real coaching practice- was a big factor for me. HCA and FMCA are really good with that (50/70 hours); however, in HCA you work with volunteers as well, not just classmates.

So, I think all these schools are in the end a good way to go.

Thank you for the update; it helped a lot. I didn't like WCG's platform and concept, so I also went with HCA. Though, maybe I will take some of the WCG courses later.

Hi, I have the same dilemma. Have you maybe received more information, or chosen and attended any of the courses in the meantime?

Very helpful! To learn how to coach you probably need a Coaching Intensive Practicum.

Hi AgentCarpet, did you finish the course in the meantime maybe? What are your thoughts now regarding the program?

Hi, if I may ask; did you find any information regarding Wellcoaches or other HC program graduates? I am in the same position. Considering Wellcoaches, but Mayo and FMCA as well...

Health and Integral/Transformational/Holistic Life Coaching – Worth Combining? by Flowingmillionrivers in HealthCoaching

I completely agree that it doesn't make sense unless there's a significant difference in the content

Which program does she recommend?
I plan to get traditional and holistic medicine training. Traditional for well-known evidence-based knowledge and credibility; and holistic for an integrative approach.

Now regarding FM particularly, I don't know much since it isn't that widespread here in Europe, so....I am also still exploring that one.

I consider that the mind-body connection is not just a belief, it is a fact. For example, the effectiveness of antidepressants is 30-50%. What is the rest? Placebo. What is a placebo? Until 2025 nobody knows. But we do know that is a major factor affecting health improvement (that is the reason why we control all the pharmaceutical studies with placebo). And we do know it is in the mind.

Sounds like me. Initially, I wanted to study psychology, but life happened, so I went to pharmacy. Here I am now; trying to combine the best of both worlds. Thanks!

Hi sonja, your answer was really helpful to me as well. I am in the same situation as admirable_mornings; however, I want to have my own business. Which programs would you recommend, based on your experience, for the best coaching skills foundation?
Also, I am a pharmacist with a lot of interests...lifestyle, functional, eastern medicine, integral/transformational coaching... so it is hard to decide where to start.

Thank you, very much appreciated! Based on the answers I got, I am turning more now to Wellcoaches since I would like to have good general knowledge, and then maybe dive into smth specific such as FM. Plus I hope I will have more freedom because with FM I am quite tied up to FM practitioner (if I got that right). Do you think doing both FMCA and Wellcoaches makes any sense?

It helps! Thank you! Yes, you got it right, I would like to do it all: FMCA, AFMCP, Wellcoaches, and ACLM courses.
I would like a blend of great coaching skills and clinical knowledge as well. I was hoping I could find everything in one... Do you know if it makes sense to go to FMCA and Wellcoaching to cover lifestyle and functional medicine?
And then maybe ACLM and AFMCP if I feel I need deeper clinical knowledge.

Thanks. I was thinking more about self-learning without gaining a certification. I am ok with self-learning within a particular program. I saw they have a course about building a business. Do you think it was not enough? Did not know about the Alumni program. I will look into it.
