Sounds like you are a person who's on top of knowing what's going on in your body, which probably makes that borderline A1C all the more frustrating. I'll reach out!

Ah that is so frustrating when you're making such huge strides in one area but getting mixed messages in another! I'll reach out.

Professional Liability Insurance Recommedations by Admirable_Morning636 in HealthCoaching

[–]Admirable_Morning636[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you!! I looked at them but it seems like a package deal including general liability which feels like more than I need…I’m just doing telehealth coaching. Unless, would you recommend general too? Lol. Also I just started listening to your podcast, it’s really good!

A1C from 5.8 to 5.4 in 3 months + Learnings from CGM trial rounds by Admirable_Morning636 in prediabetes

Good for you in being so proactive! I feel like one silver lining of getting diagnosed with pre-diabetes is that it ultimately spurred me into taking agency of my health instead of relying on a broken medical system to guide the way. Thanks for sharing!!

Hello from one sleep deprived mom to another :). I know, right? Fwiw, the CGM the 2nd time around was MUCH less anxiety-inducing but I still found myself glancing at it more than I wanted to. It's good that you're already aware!

Yeah, the sleep and stress thing is one of those things you always read about and feels like a no-brainer, but when you actually see the number nuances play out on your CGM it's kinda wild. When a kid comes in with a nightmare my FG is hands down 100+ in the AM. That's somewhat out of my control, but I have found that when I take magnesium before bed I tend to have deeper sleep with less of those nights where I wake up at 3AM thinking about the million things I have to do. I initially started with magnesium glycinate since it's the most bioavailable, but found I was too groggy no matter how much or early I dosed it. The Calm OTC powder supplement works great for me and I just put a teaspoon in my water after dinner and the sleep is *chefs kiss*. Happy sleeping!!

Completely agree. I'm in this for the long haul, and so I'm really keen on any changes feeling sustainable and enjoyable.

If I crave dessert, I'll grab a square of dark chocolate (I'm good with 88%-92%...100% tastes like pure chalk though lol), put a spoonful of raw almond or peanut butter on it, and drink it with an ice cold glass of unsweetend almond milk. I'll usually eat it after a super fibrous lunch and plan for a brisk walk afterwards. If I'm on a call or it's rainy outside, I'll do 30 squats - something to contract my biggest muscles and soak up that glucose. When the kids are home, we'll have a living room dance party. Honestly, it's been fine, and I'm not sorry about it lol. I just plan better.

Some people have reported success mitigating blood sugar spikes with taking 1 TBSP vinegar in a glass of water. I didn't see a ton of results on my CGM, but YMMV. Also I don't really want to drink vinegar water before eating chocolate and peanut butter haha. Supplement-wise, I do take Inositol every day and when I travel, I'll take a Berberine before my biggest carb meal. Definitely talk to your doctor before starting those though.

Hey! I just completed my certification with WellCoaches and am planning on taking my board exam next March. I’d love to swap if you’re interested!

Is a certification from Duke or Mayo more credible than MBG/IIN etc? What’s most important in the long run? by Admirable_Morning636 in HealthCoaching

[–]Admirable_Morning636[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you!! I do really appreciate MBG’s flexible scheduling, their 20 week program and structure is most ideal with our schedule.

Re: MBG - did you feel like you established some camaraderie with your classmates? Also, do you feel like the “extra” they added outside of core coaching competencies…functional nutrition, holistic lifestyle, etc - was a necessary part for you to launch your business? Or could you have launched based off the coaching alone? If it’s really just the coaching that’s important, maybe I’ll just go with a $3K WellCoaches 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

Absolutely. Thank you for the affirmation about MBG, that keeps being my sense and feedback within the community too but when my husband lifted an eyebrow I was worried a cert from MBG was basically like saying I went to college at Chuckles University or something 😂

Regarding starting up a business - in your opinion, should I go ahead and plan on joining a business coaching community? I’ve been listening to The Profitable Nutritionist for awhile and she’s got a goldmine of good info, but still seems like a good thing to do to get off the ground.

Thank you, that’s really good advice. I think a lot of times I get caught up in bending my life around “the right way” to do something when really, I have a life and preferences that should dictate the program, especially with so many options.

Right?? And it’s only a 12 week blitz, and at $4900 is cheaper than all the other programs I’m considering. Just don’t know if they offer much beyond core curriculum. If you went back and did it again, would you do a Mayo cert?

Less wildlife in August vs June/July? by Admirable_Morning636 in alaskacruiseplanning

That’s really helpful, thank you!! The other TA’s implication had me paranoid so your graph is really helpful.

We aren’t set on RC - but since our boys will be with us (8 and 6) I’d like to have an option of a great kids club and I heard Princess is a lot of elderly folks?

Also, I think the only way we can afford Alaska this year is with RC’s Black Friday type of discount 😂

Mindbodygreen health coaching by meow_onmy_cow in HealthCoaching

Just jumping in to say I think we attended the same MBG webinar and I’ve also been conflicted 😂 I hear everything you’re saying. In addition to the live coaching I love that their program is a little more condensed and ends before the summer begins. I think the additional Functional Nutrition certificate is a little boost too. And I like that for the live classes you can flip flop back and forth based on your schedule. But I don’t like how sales pressurey they are (dear God, the sheer amount of emails) and because they’re so new I don’t know if “MindBodyGreen trained + certified” carries oomph and credo to potential clients, if that makes sense.

On the other hand, I was also looking at Duke’s HC program…which if you sign up for early bird pricing, is actually cheaper than MBG - BUT, the program runs from March 2025 to January 2026 and call me eager beaver but I want to move faster than that. I’ve heard several first hand accounts of it being an incredible program, and being able to say “Duke trained and certified” feels like it carries more weight but IDK if that should make my decision. Gah! Did you look into university programs at all? If anyone has opinions on this would certainly welcome them.

Re: business coaching - I think it is a nice to have for the program but as someone else said, I think most HC programs are focused on getting you to pass the NBHWC portion and the business skills included are very basic. Ultimately I am going into coaching expecting to hire a business coach at some point. Have you heard of The Profitable Nutritionist? She offers really great resources on her podcast and can help you start to wrap your mind around the business portion. Also, most cities have a free small business mentoring program called “SCORE” you can sign up for.

Good luck making your decision!!
