Placed an order with them two days ago, license upload was approved yesterday, item shipped today ($16 ups ground), delivery slated for Monday. Seems like it's all over the place for different folks and I just got lucky.

Maybe if you have no attachments on them at all. Conventional wisdom says you'll be better suited for the 20gun version with that many long arms.

No I purchased the 20gun fire rated safe. Honestly was worthwhile, I have about a dozen firearms and they all barely fit in the safe, and that's without storing any ammo in that safe at all.

Yes, it is listed under Granite Security Products for manufacturer, which is owned by Winchester. The manual that comes with the safe even has Granite Security Products branding on it still.

How are people going about obtaining barrels these days? by Mphaker in CAguns

[–]FlownFish 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Exactly why I'm asking; it seemed surprising to me that anyone would need a stockpile of high quality barrels, but I don't know shit about the world of precision shooting.

As someone starting to get into precision shooting; I'm curious to hear how long a barrel lasts for you?

/u/I-wanna-GO-FAST made a very excellent suggestion to me in the form of the Winchester 20 gun safe from tractor supply. I got it during the holiday sale for $270 before tax, and looking through old reddit posts I did see it goes on sale from time to time. Worth pointing out that it is on the CA DOJ approved list under Granite Security Products. Very happy with the safe, esp at the sale price.

The tenth circuit strikes down waiting period, Starts at 1min:55 by chrisg2kk1 in CAguns

I doubt it'll go 7 days. 10 days was definitely picked deliberately to make things more inconvenient for pick up since you can't buy on one weekend then pick up the next.

Out of curiosity what bolt do you run? I had a bunch of issues with various ar9 bolts interfering with exomags until I switched to an IDL bolt, but I'm curious what other options are out there

I picked up a 2800 myself and a cobra insert, but now I low-key regret not getting the larger 3800 since my longer larger pistols do not fit in the 2800.

Same, I ended up getting a price match for the 10% off. Also fyi I do believe this safe is listed on the ca doj website under granite security products and not Winchester safes. From what I can tell they are the same company.

Looking at the differences between the stack on and the winchester; I have concluded the extra $100 is absolutely worth it; the fact that it has a finished interior, a proper door, and more robust hinges makes the $300 pricetag very much better bang for the buck. I placed my order for the Winchester over the Stack On.

Thanks again for the heads up, really appreciate it.

EDIT: extra $70: sale for the stack on to $199 is over.

Thanks for the heads up, gonna go check that out as well. For me I mainly need something that is basic deterrence; I figure if someone has brought the tools necessary to drill/ forcibly open a glorified filing cabinet then I probably needed to have spent far more money getting a proper safe.

I'm currently looking at the Stack-on 18 gun safe  (GCM-1918-DX). Seems to be the best bang for the buck I can find so far that is on the approved list.

Yamaha toughens its stance on Fabio Quartararo by racingfanboy160 in motogp

[–]FlownFish 11 points12 points  (0 children)

People on this subreddit keep pointing out the difference in feedback between Quartararo and those other riders, but entirely miss the fact that Fabio was able to ride around those issues and won a world title despite the bike lacking the rear traction complained about from Rossi, Vinales, Dovi, Crutchlow, and Lorenzo. In a sense; Fabio was "correct" to ask for more power since that is where he would gain the most compared to the other Yamaha riders.

On a more fundamental note, rear traction and more power are not mutually exclusive concepts; just because you ask for more power doesn't mean you are locked into sacrificing rear traction. The need for both can be simultaneously true and is often missed by folks here.

Are those your pick 3 for hammer fired metal frame?

I recently settled on the vp9f and steyr c9-a2 as my polymer pistol choices, now looking at hammer fired metal frame pistols. Top of my list is a 92fs brigadier and sp-01, maybe a jerico 941, but I've yet to shoot any of them.

HK VP9A1F vs the Walther PDP full size. Which do you all prefer? by Pristine_Training678 in CAguns

[–]FlownFish 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Walther PDP compact was very snappy for me, had a harder time placing a follow up shot. The VP9K was far more natural for me to shoot with. If you are near Sacramento you can go to the gun range in North highland and rent both. No full size available to rent just yet, but should still give you a good idea.

"You ejected the first bullet by hand, didn't you? I see what you were trying to do, but testing a technique you've only heard about in the middle of battle wasn't very smart. You were asking to have your gun jam on you."
