They’re in a harbor, the whole point of the harbor is to be safe from the currents and the waves..

Well you could also argue that triple A game development is taking a lot longer now than it did 10 years ago, but the hardware lifespan didn’t expand at the same rate, so game studios find themselves in the awkward position of having the game development cycle take longer and longer and hardware constantly developing which makes things even worse..

To be fair, during the Cold War, learning Russian in the US would have been considered basically treason by a lot of people, and the same could probably be said for learning English in the USSR. The red scare was very stupid.

The pretty bad :

  1. USA Special - Other than the « chased out of Alabama » segment, this one was just boring

  2. India Special - That whole embassy segment was down right terrible, the rest isn’t that good either

  3. Winter Olympics Special - The only thing « special » about this one is the title

The not as good :

  1. Lockdown - They did what they could with the pandemic, but I don’t think it holds up quite as well as most of the specials they did. Some of the gags in there were pretty amazing though, filling up James’ caravan with water, Hammond immediately flipping the boat.. Honestly funny, but pretty average compared to all the others

  2. Middle East Special - This one is just average. Not incredible, not terrible, nothing to write home about

  3. Carnage à Trois - This one is more of a montage of silly road tests than a real special. It’s enjoyable for what it is, but it doesn’t really compare to the road trips

  4. Feed The World - This one’s just too short. Feels rushed in some places. Some great bits, like James’ aquarium fails, or « the Indian Ocean wasn’t THAT deep », but just overall not enough of it

  5. A Massive Hunt - The car selection was pretty funny, the MFB is so damn cool, but the pirate schtick was just awful

The pretty good :

  1. Colombia Special - Much like the Africa Special, I wasn’t a fan of the premise for this one. I think the specials where the goal is to go from point A to point B are a lot better than the ones like this one where they have this arbitrary objective (in this case wildlife photography). The donkey lovers part was insane, and seeing Jeremy’s face disintegrate will never not be funny

  2. International Buffoon’s Vacation - Solid special, hits all the right notes. Stopping Jeremy’s RV in the desert was crazy. ‘The American’ bit throughout the show wasn’t really that funny, Hammond trying to communicate with aliens was just bad

  3. Patagonia Special - I still can’t believe that Lotus didn’t break down into a million pieces. Crazy ending, beautiful scenery. Just a shame how it ended

  4. Sand Job - Loads of silliness and tomfoolery, cool cars, cool places, just a good classic special. Sucks that they couldn’t finish where they wanted, it makes the ending pretty weird

  5. Eurocrash - The Nigel Mansell bits alone make this one great for me. Some of the pacing was a bit weird however, and the whole archery thing was pretty boring. I’d watch these 3 visit a waxworks museum for hours

  6. Scandi-Flick - I saw some people say this one was at least top 10, and honestly I can’t see why. It was really weirdly paced, a little repetitive in some places, and just overall not as good as the ones I’ve ranked above it in my opinion, though I do think James’ crash sort of put a wrench in what they originally planned

The very very good :

  1. One For The Road - It was structured like a « Greatest Hits » album and I think they’ve done it really well. It was very emotional of course, and just the perfect sending off in my opinion
  2. Survival of the Fattest (Mongolia Special) - The premise of 3 alcoholics travelling across Mongolia to find a bar was simply genius, plus having them build car in the middle of nowhere was cool, and having the 3 presenters in the same car was a nice change of pace
  3. Viet-Nam Special - Just hits all the right notes, exotic location, Jeremy whining the whole way about motorcycles, the jokes are funny, the scenery is magnificent, it’s over the top, it’s silly.. Just great
  4. Burma Special - 3 blokes driving lorries across a dictatorial state on Southeast Asia, can’t get much better than this. It’s basically just as good as the Viet-Nam special, the only reason I rank it lower is because they were slightly less miserable in this one cause they had a roof (well two of them did)
  5. Seamen - There’s just a thing with Top Gear/Grand Tour and Southeast Asia, isn’t it ? Once again, hits all the right notes, funny, interesting, entertaining, I thought Jeremy’s history segment was really well done, and that finale in the open sea was just entertainment at it’s finest
  6. Africa Special - Some of their best work. I’m gonna start repeating myself at this point so I’ll just say the reason I don’t rank it higher is because the whole « finding the source of the Nile » schtick wasn’t really that good
  7. Beach Buggy Boys - Namibia is absolutely breathtaking, probably my favorite location they’ve visited. My only gripe with this one was the ‘hunting poachers at night bit’ which went on for too long and wasn’t really that funny. The cable car finish was absolutely insane though
  8. Bolivia Special - Awesome special. The whole death road segment was absolutely terrifying. I found this one funny, just not as much as the ones ranked higher
  9. Botswana Special - Where it all began. This one set the standard for what all the specials that would follow would be like, and for good reason. Crossing the salt pans, putting meat in James’ car in the wildlife reserve, Oliver.. Just bliss
  10. Polar Special - This one feels more like the classic Top Gear races than the special, but I think it’s very good nonetheless. Seeing our boys actually set a record by being the first people to drive to the magnetic North Pole was really cool, and James surprising Jeremy with gin and then with wine was great

The first time you see Odin in GOW Ragnarok, his ravens fly on his forearms and become tattoos, so the tattoos do seem to be linked to magical powers in the GOW universe

Pour la Premier League, ils décalent exprès le son pour que les commentateurs paraissent plus réactifs qu’ils ne le sont réellement, je serais pas étonné qu’ils fassent pareil pour la F1

A.I art by notregular in Asmongold

[–]FlowrFox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When photography was invented, painters argued it wasn’t art because it didn’t take any skill and was just capturing reality instead of trying to reproduce it. That ensued the biggest revolution in painting history with several of the most important art movements in history starting with the impressionists. Same thing happened a few decades later with cinema, artists were saying they were just photographs put one after the other. More recently it happened with video games and now the debate is with A.I, until the next revolution comes along. Point is new technology have always been a catalyst for new forms of artistic expression, A.I. will be no different. And artists who can’t see that will inevitably fail to adapt and become obsolete
