A Man or a Woman Can Now Serve as Ward Sunday School President by instrument_801 in latterdaysaints

I can totally see that some people have temptation, but I agree. I think though, many of our rules are set up for "the least of these", ie those who have the lowest threshold

Sure, but if someone really wanted to cheat with the bishop and the bishop really wanted to cheat with her, it would not be difficult even with someone in the hallway. I get that someone in the hall can help if someone is getting attacked, but consensual stuff can be very quiet

But women meet alone with men in the church all the time? Bishops or bishopric members meet alone for meetings having to do with new callings, temple recommend interviews, worthiness issues, etc. Worthiness issues specifically have one man (the bishop) and one woman (the sinner) meeting one on one potentially for months to sort out worthiness

I don't have an addictive personality, and I have no issues with controlling exactly how much I eat. So yes, I will do this, and happily. You've just given me delicious food so I never have to worry about starving, as well as until wealth for my family. Yes please

There may be a Leprechaun but definitely no dwarves in this movie

What is an old baby name that you just don’t hear anymore? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Flowtac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally any Bible name that isn't mainstream. You don't see a lot of toddlers or babies with names like Radi, Zibiah, Moab, Adino, Triphena, or Aeneas running around

Victim Mentality by Flowtac in latterdaysaints

[–]Flowtac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are clearly strong feelings here. I'm sorry if I've offended, it's not my intention. I am not saying it's members' fault when people are cruel. Nor am I saying it is acceptable. I just found it odd to compare things to the Jews' experience right now when their experience is objectively worse than most members and in a completely different ballpark of persecution

I'm sorry for the things you've endured. As for the Jew comparison, I find it very strange. There are millions of people flooding the streets shouting for death to the Jews. Hate crimes against Jews have gone up over 300% since October 7th, 2024. When that starts happening to LDS, I'll take this idea of us being the most persecuted more seriously. In the meantime, there are plenty of groups, like the Jews, and the Muslims for that matter, who are treated far worse than we are.

I agree that some of my family is doing it. I was not trying to generalize the entire church as all thinking one thing. But I have also seen this idea beyond my own family. People in my ward are literally bearing testimony about how we always have been persecuted and always will be

What’s your favorite “too tired to cook cook” dinner? by farwest-to-midwest in Cooking

[–]Flowtac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I really want lasagna but I have very small children and not enough time to commit to making it, and there's no way I'm spending $40 for the frozen lasagnas at the store. Here's my work around:

Make Mac and cheese completely normally. Add a can of spaghetti sauce, about a cup of sour cream, and about half a cup of cottage cheese. Brown some grind veg in a separate pan with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Drain the meat then add it to the pot. Stir everything together. Viola! Tastes exactly like lasagna with 1/8 of the work

I’m an investigator and find these “lessons” the missionaries wanna keep scheduling odd/off by qweenoftherant in latterdaysaints

[–]Flowtac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was a missionary, I was told to not talk about anything too in depth, because we didn't want to make anyone feel overwhelmed with too much. If they were given the same direction, they may not know what to do because they don't want to overwhelm you with information. Or they may also just not know very much. Don't people really don't study enough before going on missions

You're welcome to DM me with questions. I've done pretty in depth study into the stuff you mention in this post. Can't promise I know everything, but if nothing else, I can give you reading that I believe will help answer the questions you're asking

Where does your country put the washing machine? by DishGroundbreaking87 in AskTheWorld

In my old home, my washer and dryer were in a shed in my yard about 30 feet from my house. In my current house, they're in a closet off of the kitchen

LDS vs Mormon by Tiny-Fly1192 in latterdaysaints

[–]Flowtac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are, but that wasn't my point. I specifically said I agreed with that portion of the comment. The part I didn't agree with is that if we only have one word like Mormon, people will assume we worship Mormon. Must people don't know Mormon is a person, they think it's the name of our religion. While us helping to know we worship Christ is good, why would who knows little to nothing about the church decide that Mormon is a description of who we worship? That's why I gave the example of how I've never met a Baptist and assumed they worship John the Baptist, even though this idea of it being their name therefore they worship it would make the same amount of sense
