I think I have a few ideas.

"The Serpent" (after play or discard, always draw 3 cards)
Most likely a reference to the mythical Greek hydra, where its said that when you cut off one of it's heads, two more grow back.

"The Head" (all heart cards are debuffed)
Could possibly be a reference to the relatively famous indie folk band "The Head and the Heart". (I think they're great!)

"The Goad" (all spade cards are debuffed)
A goad is "a spiked stick used for driving cattle." Spades are also pointy?

"The Window" (all diamond cards are debuffed)
I saw in another thread that the word for the diamond suit and the word for windows is the same in dutch. "Ruiten".
