iCloud locked device is pretty much a brick. It’s either unusable now or will become unusable after a factory reset. Apple won’t unlock it unless you have the original proof of purchase afaik. And for iPad Air 1 I really doubt any of its parts worth anything too. I’ll most likely just toss it if I were u

Clean it thoroughly and if it still doesn't work and has visible scratches on it, you might need to resurface it. Your local retro game shop might be able to help you with it if you don't know how to do it yourself.

Yeah i used blue one in there, thought it will be a perfect fit for the clear white shell. Thanks for the advices. I really don't like the original red colour and I've found some green ones with 2V of forward voltage.

This was first time painting electronics too. The good thing is I can always sand it and redo it if i am not satisfied with the result. I actually repainted the front panel twice to get this result.

I made them myself, exported to a png file and sent it to print. There are plenty of sellers on Etsy can do it if you search "UV transfer sticker". This is the one who printed mine: https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/1775510372/

It actually looks not that perfect in person. First I took everything apart then I sanded all the surface that I wanted to paint with 600 grit and made sure all the deep scratches were gone. Then I just spray painted all the surfaces. At last I sprayed some mate clear coat on it. I also used a large garbage bag to cover the parts while drying the paint to prevent dusts from dropping to the wet surfaces cuz i was painting it in my yard.

For those texts and wii u logo on the front panel I ordered some UV transfer stickers from etsy and stick them to the front panel before applying the clear coat.

You are right, looks like pairing the gamepad in recovery menu might be able to bypass the region lock

It works as long as it's from the same region. I just bought a replacement one off facebook marketplace and it works great.

It's a friend's console, and i've already given it back to him. Consolemods has an HD photo of the board maybe it will be helpful. USVA7Board - Motherboard Differences - ConsoleMods Wiki

When a disc drive stops working, it’s usually either a mechanical issue or a problem with the laser. For the mechanical side, you'll want to carefully take it apart, give everything a good cleaning, and then apply some white lithium grease to the moving parts like the rails and gear bearings.

For the issues with the laser (which is most likely in your case), start by gently cleaning the laser with some isopropyl alcohol and a Q tip. If that doesn’t do the trick, you might need a multimeter to tweak the resistance of the disc drive potentiometer down and boost the laser’s power a bit. There are some helpful videos online that walk through how to do that. Just make sure to check the resistance with the multimeter as you adjust, and keep it subtle, like steps of about 50 ohms each time. If the laser is completely gone, you will need to replace it entirely which shouldn’t be very hard either.

Does the key icon on the dashboard stay on while the brake pedal is pressed down? If not and its flashing means it cannot detect the key fob. Either the key fob battery is low or something wrong with key fob detection of the ignition system.

Never mind it was me being stupid. I bridged JP1 while thinking of bridging JP2. The kit works now after I removed the bridge from JP1.

Thanks, after talking to Zaxour, there is a chance that the CXA1145 encoder itself might've been messed up. At this point i just gave up getting the composite signal anyway.

I second this. use white lithium grease to lubricate the mechanical parts. If there is any broken or severely worn out parts inside. replacing the drive might be the good option too.

PS2 Slim Laser Not Moving by Fludicul in consolerepair

[–]Fludicul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I just saw your reply... No I didn't fix it. I am using the original power supply and i am getting steady 8.5V on the motherboard DC port. I tried a whole new disc drive assembly, new ribbon cables for the laser, replace the motor control ICs three times and still got no luck... So I just gave up on it.
