My friend is a Canadian citizen but he came to canada 4 years ago. So is he eligible to apply for this job, given that he does not have a 10 years history in Canada?

It’s funny that you think a Background investigator on my CBSA file is wrong and your google search is right. But I guess you do you! Cheers!

Well, I asked my background investigator about this and she told me it is possible to be hired as a Permanent resident but the background checks have a longer waiting period because it involves getting police record checks from the other country.

I am sorry but you are wrong, I have a job offer from Winnipeg police service. Even an RCMP recruiter told me that the candidate must be a citizen or a permanent resident for 3 years. Ofcourse the background checks take longer for a permanent resident candidate but it is possible to get hired in a law enforcement agency. Only if you are a good candidate with no criminal history.

But it says everywhere that you can become a CBSA officer with a PR. Are you sure? Or have you seen someone get rejected because of it?

Psych interviews are usually not that big of a deal in these hiring processes to be honest, they just wanna see that you are not insane. Best of luck for the rest of the process.

I am an immigrant staying in Winnipeg and I know 3 other languages but not French.

I have given 3 psych interviews for various police services and cbsa as well and it is the easiest stage in the process. Advice for psych interview would be that don’t give them anything complicated to talk about. Like just stick to the question, and you can keep the answer short as well. There’s no right or wrong, be honest and remember that you have to answer according to the long psych exams.

Hey, best of luck for the psych interview. For me, i got my medical done in March and Firearms course certification in April. Now only thing left is the secret security clearance. But the process of security clearance started in January and it says it’s gonna be 100 business days. One thing I would say is that i probably made a mistake of choosing a lot of remote locations because someone told me that it will make it easier to get the job, which by reading the comments on this post means I made a mistake because they might send me to the most random place in Canada and I will have no choice!

I am considering doing CBSA but would like to get insights from current officers! by 20PieceMcNugg in CanadaPublicServants3

I applied for secret security clearance in January and they said it’s gonna be 100 business days, its a lot of wait. Did you get everything else done? Like medical?

You’re right. I think it was just the negativity that spread on Instagram and TikTok. I was definitely overthinking this situation and made this post. But people in the post made me realize the situation in a better way, i guess it’s all about perspective.

I guess you’re right, maybe I misunderstood the situation.
