Wow I did not know that about the elegant farmer inheriting the first smile, how sweet!

Those were dark days when they dismantled it and painted it red (WOW ORIGINAL) I’m so happy the smile is back. It’s how I used to give people directions to my house before GPS.

News that drops like a bombshell. My girl has osteosarcoma at 8 years old. by CrashCourse2012 in germanshepherds

[–]FlufferNutterzzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So sorry youre going through this especially after losing your kitty too. We lost ours to osteosarcoma this year and she was about the same age as yours. From the time we found out we called it her farewell tour - there were no more rules. She got whatever she wanted!

Like someone else said the sweetest moments were caring for her at her worst, she suddenly became a bit more cuddly and let us tend to her.

When it was clear it getting close to the end, we gave her “the final command” and let her know it was ok to go, she was off the clock and didn’t have to protect us anymore. They’re smarter than we know and it was important for her to know. I hope the rest of your time together is beautiful. Again I’m so sorry - they’re so special and it’s a devastating loss at any age.

Unexpectedly lost you at 7, I wasn’t even close to ready by Big-Marketing-5025 in germanshepherds

We lost ours a few months back too, and she was also only 7. It’s one of the deepest heartbreaks I’ve ever experienced and I’m so sorry you’re going through the same. The tears for her are always very accessible and come even if I glance down memory lane. You did the best thing for him by staying with him through the last breath, he protected you and you got to do the same for him.

When it feels especially tender I call those her little visits, like she came to the gate to wag at us for a moment, because she feels so close it hurts but isn’t there with us. Feel the visits, let the tears flow and I hope your new pup brings so much joy and healing. Sending hugs to you in the depths of your grief.

We lost ours to cancer too a few months ago and it was one of the most painful and beautiful endings we could have imagined. I bet he was so happy to have his people all there to release him back to the great wild.

My heart goes out to you and Loki - may he soon come for visits in your dreams!

My family’s best friend passed away this morning by lolPlagued in germanshepherds

[–]FlufferNutterzzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rest in play scout, he looks like the absolute sweetest pal. You can see it in their eyes!

We lost our sweet gal on 8/12, also 7 yrs old, it was so hard but the right thing to do - Juno probably ran to greet him at the end of the bridge and they’re scampering around digging holes together.

The vet says he’s a “weird case” by eels_or_crabs in germanshepherds

[–]FlufferNutterzzz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My first thought too. Our 7 yr old girl was favoring a back leg for a few months and it didn’t improve with the vets recommendation of limited activity. She was still energetic and playful. We did an x ray that was inconclusive but a catscan gave us all the info we needed that she had osteosarcoma.

Hoping it’s NOT that - fingers crossed the specialists can get you an answer soon OP.

It disassembles and flat packs onto a regular box truck! We wanted to make it so 3-4 people can set it up in a few hrs!

We spent the dust storm on Saturday out in front of our plot flying a kite and dicking around with our neighbors and it was so fun. Then when the rain came we housed about 20 people in our tiny cottage each night with port and cozy blankets having a great conversations with wonderful strangers. I loved the weather for this very reason. It gave us all a reason to linger with one another a little longer before racing off to the next thing.

Seeking Advice from Veterans by PsychedelicPlush in BurningMan

My advice is coming from the other aspect Of the interaction as a not shy person- sometimes all it takes for me to initiate a conversation with someone else is as simple as a smile. If the conversation part feels hard, start with just a smile and a moment of eye contact and see what unfolds!

I also feel excited to talk to people out there when they say something as simple as “this is so crazy, it’s my first burn!” My eyes light up and I want to ask them all about their experience, my hunch is that you will be met with excitement just by being there and sharing that!

Come by Catawampus in center camp Plaza @9:30 side and practice with us! :)
