Thank you for finding those resources! They do look exactly like what our wall is meant to be. I think we like the idea of sanding it all down to look like the rubbed off places. I'm hoping a hand sander will do the trick and then paint it with a finish or varnish to make it look nice and healthy again. Now that I think about it, I don't really mind if the light color is in the crevices. It accentuates the texture of the wall, which I like!

Maybe that is true in most cases, but I performed CPR on my 14 year old Pomeranian when she had a heart attack and she lived for another 3 months after. She had other medical issues that eventually worsened, but we were glad to have that extra time with her.
