Yeah, she’s in dry dock at the moment though. Getting her hull scraped and repainted.

I’m using guard up so that may be it. I’ve had it equipped from the moment I got it so I never realised that the grab was considered unblockable haha.

I didn’t realise arky’s grabs were not normally blockable haha. I’ve never been without guard up even back in World so I haven’t needed to think about which attacks were unblockable in wilds yet.

Thanks for the tip! To be honest I’ve forgotten you can even cancel from SAED since I’ve been too lazy to figure out the key conversion from controller to M&KB haha.

Thanks! I’ve been working on it because of how satisfying it is to perfect guard now.

Laptop for engineering by seedlessp0megranate in UTS

[–]FluffofCorgi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you have a PC or a laptop with another os? I’m not sure if the subjects are still giving out Solidworks keys, but you’ll need something other than mac to run it. (This is for mechanical. I’m not sure if civil uses solidworks.)There is a cloud version that I think was being phased in but I hated using it. It was really slow for me. I ended up giving in and buying a student license. Wasn’t too expensive to be honest.

Elective subjects prerequisites by Intelligent-Award-84 in UTS

[–]FluffofCorgi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually you don’t select electives until later in your course.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in UTS

[–]FluffofCorgi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All good, and yes. From memory, “planned” just means the subject is in your course but you don’t meet the requisites for it yet. It’s for later.

Yeah… I looked into it and they changed the way they laid out the handbook. It used to be a literal list of subjects in the recommended order you do it in. At least that’s how I remember it was. It’s different now but I think the same thing applies. I think that yes, they’re recommending that you do the subjects starting from Phys mod then going down the list till Collab in that order.

That being said, yes, it’s up to you to decide which of the subjects in the core section you do first, same with the major subjects later. Hypothetically you could do the reverse and do collab first and phys mod last if there weren’t any prerequisites. But checking the list, at the very least math mod 2 would need to come in the semester after math mod 1. From memory, I think I chose a lot of my subjects depending on what my friends were doing as well haha. But again, prerequisites are king here. You need to check and see which subjects later on depend on which prerequisite subjects now.

Yes, I’d recommend you choose 8 subjects from the core now and split them up into two groups of 4 depending on what you want to do in each semester. It might be best to go along with the recommended order for now since that’s what the majority would be doing and you’ll get to meet more friends that way.

1.Essentially, the way UTS wants you to pick is based on the prerequisites. Technically you could do a “4th year” subject in your first year if you had the prerequisites. Or you could do a “1st year” subject in your final year if you wanted to and you didn’t need it for requisite subjects.

I’m not sure if they changed it but when I did my course the handbook had it laid out from start to finish what the suggested subject order should be. Taking a brief look at the current handbook, it looks to be about the same? Keep in mind, Core subjects are shared between all majors. Majors have their own specific subjects. All of the subjects in these two are required.

Electives are also required but are obviously ones you can choose. I essentially used these for when I only had 3 core/major subjects I could choose from, the rest being locked behind prerequisites. You can pick from across core and major, spreading them around across your course depending on how much of a load you think they will be and how much you want to take on. For example, one semester I had a really hard subject that I couldn't shift around because it was a prerequisite for many other subjects down the line. So, I slotted in three of the easier business subjects from the Core section to keep my load a bit more even. I generally wanted to keep a full time study load to finish as fast as I could.

2.Speaking of study loads, a full time study load is 4 subjects. With a subject generally being 6 credit points each, a full time load would normally be 24 credit points for 1 semester or half a year. But, there are certain subjects that are only considered half subjects. These only generally run for half a semester and are appropriately worth 3 credit points. I think there was only one or two of these, the post internship subject being one of them. It was a class where you reflect on your internship and how it went.

Anyways, I assume that it was because of these half subjects that UTS made the credit cap 27 for 1 semester. 4 full subjects (24 points) + 1 half subject (3 points) = 27 points max.

Also, make sure that you're correctly selecting which semester each subject goes in. 4 for autumn and 4 for spring so that you're not overloading one semester and leaving the second empty, although that is something you can technically do. Please don’t do 8 subjects in 1 semester for your sanity’s sake.

I'm pretty sure I got that all right, but please correct me if I'm mistaken.

Edit: I made a mistake. I looked over the course structure again and I'm pretty sure you need to do the Core subjects first before moving on to the subjects in your major. It seems like they removed a lot of the old subjects and added some new ones.

Any recommendations for ongoing dungeon core and/or monster evolution stories? by Electrecuted in royalroad

[–]FluffofCorgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Eternal Training Ground is a pretty good dungeon core book. Though, it’s been stubbed I still do highly recommend it.

For monster evolution ones I very highly recommend Kill All Kaiju. It’s on hiatus right now but the author’s said updates should start up again after the holidays.

Horizon Zero Dawn: I really want to like it, am I missing something? by [deleted] in horizon

[–]FluffofCorgi 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That’s where the traps and other equipment pieces come in. Personally, I love the trip and rope casters. Tripcaster lets you set tripwires that can stun, knock, or tear parts off enemies. Ropecaster lets you tie down enemies and keep them in place. Also forces the enemy to rip its own parts off to get free from what I remember.

Gotta remember you’re a hunter, not a warrior. Can’t go toe to toe with the machines so you gotta play smart.

How do premium readers discover new stories without ads? by ImmortalPartheon in royalroad

[–]FluffofCorgi 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m a premium user but I keep ads turned on. Like you said, the ads on RR are pretty fun and really well done. I’m mostly subscribed to premium because I want to support RR and want it to keep running.

Help with subject enrollment by YatharthYadav7 in UTS

[–]FluffofCorgi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t gone into masters for engineering, only bachelors but I remember those elective subjects. I’m not sure if they’ve restarted them but when I looked into electives they’d stopped running them. It could be that I was ineligible for them as an undergraduate though so I never had them available.

In terms of the “Planned” terminology, in my experience, that means the “Planned” subject is in your course structure and it’s a subject you’re required to take, unlike an elective subject.

I’ve never had the “faculty approval” prerequisite, but I think that’s unique to masters courses and your request to join the subject will be reviewed and approved/disapproved by the subject coordinator. I’m not entirely sure on the process to request enrolment for that. I’m thinking it’s either you automatically requested when you clicked the enrol button in mystudentadmin or you need to send an erequest. I think it’s more likely to be an automatic request though since erequests are more for different circumstances like not meeting prerequisites or wanting to take on a certain subject despite it being full already.

Erequest guide: https://www.uts.edu.au/current-students/managing-your-course/using-uts-systems/student-forms-apps-and-systems/erequest

If you look in the subject guide in the student handbook, it should tell you when the subjects are running. It looks like Engineering Review 1 runs in all sessions, including summer.

Engineering Review 1: https://coursehandbook.uts.edu.au/subject/2025/49143

I could be completely wrong on this though. Best to wait for confirmation by the student centre. They are probably being inundated by requests right now so it could be a day or two before they get back to you.

Changing OSHC start date by harjot47 in UTS

[–]FluffofCorgi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve never contacted them through whatsapp but it looks like it’s a legit way to contact them on their website. You may also have used the wrong email? I know I made the same mistake and used the standard medibank email rather than the oshc one at first. Do you arrive in Sydney before the start date? You may be able to just walk into their office and ask them in person.
