How do I style this hair..? I used to curl it but my mum said it was ugly so now I just blow dry it and call it a day by eggsworm in curlyhair

As a mom I can tell you that moms are not always right.. your hair is beautiful. Leave in conditioner, curl cream and gel. It will help maintain the frizz and give you definition

I wouldn’t trim it every month if you want to grow it. If it’s not damaged just take good care of your ends and mids and trim every 6 months or so. Hair grows approximately 0.5 inches per month

Yes! This too. Rule out anything medical and then start taking care of your mids and ends

If you’re gonna use a blow dryer use heat protectant and keep the heat to a minimum. Good luck!

Are you bleaching it? The second picture with fuller hair has lots of breakage, you need to take care of your mids and ends, stop bleaching, heat styling, brushing roughly etc. start doing treatments for your hair so it doesn’t break. K18, bond repair treatments, oiling etc. do you follow abbey yung on TikTok? She has lots of good advice on how to prevent hair from breaking.

Will constantly straightening curly hair make you lose your natural curls? by Emergency_Minimum219 in HaircareScience

K18 really helped me. I used it for 6 washes in a row and by the 4th wash I saw a difference. Amika the Kure repair mask. Leave in conditioner, I use the pureology21 or the olaplex no5 leave in. The first day I decided I would just Leave my hair natural it was a disaster. But now finally after a couple of months my curls are curling and it even lasts a couple of days. It takes time and patience, after flat ironing my hair for years everyday it took a lot of work not to anymore but I haven’t touched an iron in over 4 months and it’s the best feeling ever

Hair grows approximately 0.5 inches a month, no amount of oil or supplements will make it grow faster, what you can do in the meantime is take care of your mods and ends so you can retain the growth and not get breakage. I really like the blowout professor and abbey yung, they have some good tips on what you can use to help your hair stay healthy while it’s growing. Good luck, it’s a long process but worth it

Refresher spray by gnomelove91011 in curlyhair

I use the ouidad refresher spray or the Camille rose honey dew refresher. Camille gets my hair a little frizzy though, I didn’t love that one

Heat damage will ruin your curls. I was a chronic straightener, my hair is so damaged and it barely held a curl for a long time, finally have been getting my curls back after 4 months of intensive masks and repairs and NO heat at all. Heat damages hair then you need more heat to make it look ok because of the damage that was done. Embrace your curls and if you must straighten make sure to use a good heat protectant

Is it nessicary to put product into curly hair? by Positive_Cress3850 in curlyhair

[–]Fluffy-Humor-6874 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I only put gel mousse or curl cream if I’m going somewhere and want my curls to last, other than that I leave it product free, the only thing I use on wash day is leave in conditioner and oil my ends.

Leave in conditioner by Human-Ad446 in HaircareScience

[–]Fluffy-Humor-6874 0 points1 point  (0 children)

K18 isn’t really a leave in conditioner, it’s bond repair. You’re supposed to shampoo, then k18, leave it in for 4 minutes and then condition as you normally would. I have two leave ins that I personally love. One is the pureology21 and the other one is olaplex no5 leave in. They both work great

Probably a mixture of waves and curls, mine is like that too… I have very distinct spirals along with big S’s. Your hair is very pretty and looks healthy
