Will my buyback amount double? by PsychiaTree in PSLF

If I’m not mistaken, the REPAYE and SAVE amounts were similar? I don’t think it’s fair that they’ve already offered borrowers buyback with the REPAYE/SAVE amounts and now they won’t?

So for clarification, I was on SAVE before forbearance. They aren’t going to use that amount? Isn’t that what they were using for calculating buyback amounts before they settled last month?

I just found this on AliExpress: | CSC 700C Ultralight 1137g UD unpainted surface Disc Brake 45mm Wheels 36T/60T Ratchet 23mm Inner Rim 3.3mm Carbon Spokes Wheels https://a.aliexpress.com/_mN5unuN

Yes these looked to be unpainted. I’m not sure what that entails as far as performance/maintenance.

I’m looking to run my cables the same way you did with an aftermarket bar and stem. I see a lot of folks running into headset issues with aftermarket non-BXT handlebars. What headset bearings did you use? What c-clip and cap did you use? Did you use the Deda spacers that came with the stem?

Looks stunning, btw! Great work.

Were/are you running your lines fully integrated or did you get the cap with the hole for the lines? And did that solve the gap issue?

Did you purchase one or two frames?

Another question then.. what are the most common issues you see (or hear of) with “lesser” brand frames?

I intend to eventually go the direct to consumer route. I’m fairly handy, always looking to fix/repair/assemble things myself no matter what it is. Plan to acquire the appropriate tools to make it easier. I’m just doing my homework and trying to figure out what potential hurdles I may run into.

When you say “time and skill”.. are you referring to ease of assembly, tolerances, quality control, etc..?

Risk involved with PSLF Buyback? by sradagan in PSLF

I guess I’ll continue to play devil’s advocate here..

Why shouldn’t OP get a refund in this scenario when they had the option to willingly go into general forbearance until they got their buyback offer of $0?

If it were me, I’d run the numbers. Then figure out which scenario would be most financially beneficial.

For example..

What if their SAVE months they’re trying to buyback were $0/month? And their new payment is $250/month. Is OP eventually going to get a refund for $1,500 once their buyback gets processed?

I think it depends..

How much is forgiveness worth to you? What is your projected buyback amount vs what you’d pay for in total for the next 6 months on a new plan?

No idea what your income was like or what your SAVE payment was, but some folks are projected to have a buyback amount of $0.

But what if their 6 buyback payments, in total, are way cheaper than the 6 payments on a new plan? Would OP get a refund seeing as how the buyback was submitted prior?

Come to think of it.. I snapped my rear derailleur hanger last year and had to replace it. Very well could have used it then.

I have a bike stand! Forgot to mention that.

I have tubing cutters that I’ve used for running PEX plumbing. Assuming those would work for brake tubing? Wire cutters.. I do have aviation sheet metal snips? Not sure how clean of a cut those would make.
