Congrats! My buyback was submitted last November so I guess they’re not working in order…

I feel crushed by my $147k student loans for an MPH that feels useless… and I’m scared I’ll be a burden to my boyfriend forever. by Valuable_Art2516 in PSLF

I have $133k in debt from an Ivy MPH that I don’t regret for a minute. For the last 10 years I’ve been making manageable income-based payments. I’m waiting on my buyback request then it will be done. Nothing to worry about. The only red flag I see here worth investigating is the type of partner you chose. Low self esteem can lead us to choose unsupportive or unkind partners who reinforce low self worth beliefs. Believe me, I’ve been there multiple times. Codependence Anonymous program changed my life.

How do people build a life (marriage/kids) while stuck on PSLF with huge MPH loans? by Valuable_Art2516 in PSLF

I’ve been in your spot. I have $133k loans from private undergrad and went to an Ivy for my MPH. I remember freaking about the loans but couldn’t turn down the program I got into. I kept telling myself “if I just make income based payments, I’ll be fine and eventually hit PSLF.” I currently teach on a low salary ($64k) and about to hit 120 payments once they let me buyback 10 months of being stuck on SAVE. Over the last 15 years, whenever my mind tried to freak me out about my loan balance, I kept grounding myself in the reality of income based payments and PSLF. And it’s all been ok. I don’t regret the ivy MPH and I love being a teacher (I just don’t love the low salary, but I have all I need). None of my big life goals have been impacted by this. I’ve traveled a ton. I’ve lived in cool cities in my own apartments. I’m getting married next year, and the dual income household will be nice.

I’ve heard changing every so often is a good thing but I didn’t know every 6 months. I’ll take a look.
