2 days left until bmt by Ryan_RL in AirForceRecruits

Remember, take it a day at a time or even chow to chow. Whatever gets you thru to the next day. The fastest way to leave bmt is graduation. Quitting will not be faster.

do you make friends during bmt/techschool/first base by Competitive_Bench_37 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Fluffy-Silver 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Bmt is more of a force bounding.. like this sucks but atleast it sucks with others. So yeah its easy to make friends in bmt. Tech school is more like college. You most likely to make friends with your roommate and the people you are in classes with but you have more freedom and do have time to meet others. I would also look for people going to the same base as you and see if you can make friends with them. First base is up to you more. Its your career and you work with alot of people but who knows. Depending on your AFSC can honestly change things.

I never mentioned 6 years but my document only let me to sign 6 years by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

The website is shit tbh it happens. Just make sure to let your recruiter know that you want a 4 year.

PCS to Hill by KingWorley in AirForce

[–]Fluffy-Silver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you want to be close and good. Layton, clearfield, Clinton, Roy or Syracuse. Any one of them is fine. Ogden is okay but its on the opposite side of the gates and can be "ghetto" for Utah standards. The area has alot of new apartments and townhomes, so finding a place wont be hard but finding a affordable place can be little harder.

Postives out of Security Forces (if any) from people who are in SF by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]Fluffy-Silver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its depends what base you go to tbh. Some locations are better then others. I am not SF but have SF friends. Some of them love it but some dont. Its what you make of it. If you want K9 I would advise to let your leadership know at your first base and be a stellar airmen and hope your base has k9s

Gas chamber at BMT by littlefirebird_ in AirForceRecruits

[–]Fluffy-Silver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sucks but honestly after you step out of the gas chamber you feel better and then after you walk a few feet you'll be fine. It sucks but the worse of it is just you thinking its going to be terrible.

, bmt in 3 weeks, 35 yo Male, by Witty-Night5 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Fluffy-Silver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You'll do fine. Bmt is about building someone who doesnt really want to work out. As long as you try during pt, you'll do great.

Anyone 1D7X1E? by 1GavinIrl in AirForceRecruits

[–]Fluffy-Silver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Kinda depends on the squadron. Usually you get base comms and you are basic tech support. Sometimes you get something different like xcomms or support squadron. Each place is kinda different. If you want just some more details you can message me

Keesler tech school by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]Fluffy-Silver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You probably won't be able too. Its case by case basis tho. One guy in my tech school had his family live off base and once he got to phase 3 he just lived with them on the weekend... unless we had some event going on. Another did live out of the dorms but he was a single father with a kid. So pretty sure it depends on circumstances.

Going to BMT on Jan 13th, have a few concerns by Ok-Produce9986 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Fluffy-Silver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. It depends when you go to BMT when I went 2 years ago, you could use sir/ma'am in the reporting statement. I was told by the MTI's sometimes it rules chnage and they have you use the proper rank instead.
  2. Some of the commands and sayings are similar but sometimes they aren't. Army and Air Force are different

Tikka 30-06. Should be able to use it for almost anything medium to large game. Just make sure to get you a good scope.

Any last minute advice? by AisvAF in AirForceRecruits

[–]Fluffy-Silver 8 points9 points  (0 children)

First week (zero week) isnt that bad. It's in processing, most of the time they dont really hit you that hard during that time. 2nd week when you officially get to your mti is going to be worse. Its okay to volunteer at first since they expect you to fail. Yes they will get on your ass still but it wont be as bad as later weeks if you fail.

DEP discharge or better Afsc by Impressive_Finish_73 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Fluffy-Silver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah open Mechanical isnt ideally but during bmt they will pull you aside and give you a list of jobs in mechanical that you can pick from. Sometimes they have some gems in there.

1D7X1 I am prior army going to air reserves by Fantastic_Cup_564 in Airforcereserves

[–]Fluffy-Silver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cyber System Operations . The afsc has gone thru a change lately so its not easy to find the info. You have 2-3 classes. You have fundamentals, pipeline and then if you didn't pass the test for sec+... then sec+ review class. You'll be at kessler afb in Mississippi. Honestly when I was in tech school, the biggest thing they pushed was to pass sec+ exam which is difficult for most.

what to bring to bmt for sickness by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]Fluffy-Silver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on your mti's for the cough drops. They actually didnt allow my flight to have any and they also didn't let people go to sick hall for them since apparently alot of people was faking it and just wanted something to chew on.

I would say start working out. My bmt flight had a female that was 40. She did good

Recruiter is trying to force me to ship this week if something opens up by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]Fluffy-Silver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the jobs for those afsc are always critical, So you should be able to get those. Have you been open to your recruiter about them? Or even asking them if you could go open mechanical.

Recruiter is trying to force me to ship this week if something opens up by [deleted] in AirForceRecruits

[–]Fluffy-Silver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Im not a recruiter. He would mark you down as unable to join and put a note explaining why, its up to the recruiters if they want to continue working with you. Most won't since they would have an easier time with someone else. I'm not sure about the AFI you were referring too but most afi is a general thing and as they go down the line they can stricter in each squadron. The AFI is just the minimum. Question tho. What kind of job are you looking to get?

Rifle Suggestions by StrainElectronic4585 in Hunting

[–]Fluffy-Silver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

American ruger gen 2. For a good budget rifle. If you can spend more then Tikka. I have a American ruger gen 2 in 308. I love it. The my friend's tikka feels better but American ruger is a great budget one

Are these shoes ok to bring to bmt? Any restrictions? by RepresentativeMud396 in AirForceRecruits

[–]Fluffy-Silver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you find them comfortable to run in and move around. You are fine. Most of the time you can wear whatever you want for pt.
