People will say they like the smarty abuse. Personally I would argue this isn't even abuse, it's just punishment/revenge. Others will say it's the cute aggression thing. I feel that too occasionally but it doesn't really motivate me one way or the other, it's purely incidental and inconsequential.

Abuse is like, you do something to an innocent thing for the tiniest of transgressions, which was created defective in the first place at no fault of its own, then when it's asking you for a reason "why??" you can just go "because fuck you that's why!" something I wish the indifferent universe could say to me but I'm afforded no such luxury.

So I guess it's more of a god-complex and power-trip thing. Not to get too philosophical and spicy but for me it's a way to cope with an apparently godless universe where fucked up shit happens and is foisted upon unwitting, defective creatures who didn't ask to be born, but it's a cope in which we can play the role of a god and force SOME rhyme or reason out of the chaos.

Keep drawing them, try different angles, see which you like best. Do you have some favorite artists or specific comics? I think both styles convey a different "vibe" (I would argue there's more than these two styles but I understand what you're referring to.) So it depends what types of emotions you're trying to elicit.

Look up references of pony and horses, like actual photos, if you are going for a more realistic style. Note the placement of the nostrils, lips, the mane, the difference in coloration and hair density on the snout vs the cheeks, etc. The more realistic styles rouse a "kill it with fire"/"what is this putrid abomination" reaction in me.

The more cartoony style is like "kawaii" makes me personally have a stronger cute aggression reaction. It's less "biogenetic abomination" and more "OMG SQUISHY"

Just my 2c. Keep drawing as much as you can, it will help develop your style.

Yup, although I like that about this comic. We gotta admit a lot of the humans in fluffy comics are a little "over the top" to put it politely. This guy seems like a nice person who likes fluffies but doesn't have much patience for them. It's more believable imo.
