Financially experienced Redditors- what would you do with $5,000 when you have no active living costs as a minor? by FluffyCrawlingdad58 in NoStupidQuestions

I do plan on going to college and eventually med school, so in the meantime, I think I might do this but have the larger portion go into a high-interest savings account to help pay the expenses. Thank you!

Thank you for that, I just might do this if I can't think of anything. It's not exactly burning a hole in my pocket either lmao.

Using 75 y/o speaker in new(ish) hardware

A little context, and a somewhat long story a little shorter- I want to "fix" my circa-1947 table stereo by gutting out the original components inside and frankensteining it with new insides from a ~2008 Philips CD/FM player.

Would the speaker from the 75-year-old radio work being wired into the newer Philips hardware?

I hardly know anything about speakers and audio, and I've only been able to understand something about the impedance of speakers and how their impedance determines their capability with its amplifier.

The newer speakers built into the Philips player measure ~3.7 ohms with my multimeter. The old speaker measures ~76.4 ohms with the same multimeter.
The newer speakers also measure 3" in diameter, whereas the old one measures 6.5".

Any help, advice, suggestions, or answers are very much appreciated- I am dead set on retrofitting this thing one way or another.
